He's crazy Persistence of Time is not only my favorite Anthrax album but it's in my top 10 albums of all time and Joey did great on it!
The Nexus
Dave mustaine does not fit that category, does he?
I was 18 and played the shit out of that album back in the day. Really the only Anthrax album I liked start to finish, not really a fan but loved this album.
Time is a fuckin banger..
Persistence Of Time is my favorite Anthrax album.
Joey did great on everything and got stabbed in the back by his peers. It’s real shitty no mistake about it!
Thank GOD Anthrax brought Joey Back!
FOR ALL KINGS is possibly their finest album.
Yep!
Persistence was a darker time and darker feel and sound!
Sometimes maybe you d'o need time and space! Live and Learn! Plus the fire too!
New years' Eve!
I love Anthrax! Great guys too
I love this guys personality, comes across as such a great guy
People that actually met him usually think otherwise.
+Art Hazard I met him, he was super nice, dude.
Depends on his mood maybe.
Art Hazard no you dumb ass people just hate to fucking hate use your common sense
@@danishmoocow4424 wtf did you even say?
i saw scott ian in my garden, i looked out my window and there he was just standing there.
red hat on, shovel in hand, beard
wait, it may have been a garden gnome.
I always said Kerry King reminds me of a garden gnome.
Or maybe it was Keemstar
darksorcerermusic Nice.!! He and Joey and Dudes from Man O' War used to hang across from my house in parking lot in N. Y.
Awesome!
Joey is the voice of Anthrax.
+SuperStrik9 Again yes but he should sing Bush era song. It would be funny cause he can't do it.
He sings "Only" at every show.
No he does not. I seen it at the 1st show of the worship music tour in Grand Rapids MI and on you tube a few times like 5 and they dropped the song. He can't sing it worth a shit. If he is so good he would sing John Bush era songs just like John sang his era songs.
+TheBoinger5150 and bush can't sing joey era, it's better when they stay in their era of Anthrax. New Anthrax album is killer.
Anthony Avila Where have you been? and obviously have never seen them live or on you tube. John Bush sings Belladonna era songs better than he did.
Persistence of Time is the BEST Anthrax album. A true, unparalleled masterpiece.
Underrated gem for sure
I love it - like almost all the Anthrax albums, but Spreading the Disease is my all time favourite.
i would like to meet Scott Ian some day
What makes him a hypocrite?
I have a friend who met him once and he was a total dick
So basically Belladonna was kicked for Scott Ian's relationship issues
Hahaha
Its funny I am more into thrash singing and Death metal singing but I was so bummed when they let Joey go. Joey was the only Metal singer back in the 80's I liked. I was still really into Hardcore and just getting into metal but man I loved Joey's singing it made Anthrax to my ears. So when he came back I was super excited. And I would have to say since I have been playing guitar Scott is my favorite Rhythm guitar player out there huge influence on my playing
And when he came back they put out an absolute masterpiece with For All Kings!
I bought the book about a week ago and now I'm almost 80% through it. He has had quite a crazy life and I appreciated reading through what his view on all those years in Anthrax were really like and especially reading his justification for firing Joey Belladonna.
That goatee is a beautiful and wondrous thing. Love Scott and Anthrax are fucking legends. Among The Living was the album that introduced me to thrash. I didn't even know that style of music existed until hearing that record. My 14 year old brain was changed forever....
Why do so many people hate him? He just says what he thinks and talks bout his oppinions with an actually reason for the oppinions not like others. He is also realy nice actually. Hes also an nerd like i am and he did some comic books for dc i still want to read. This guy is just intelligent. But i have to agree that sometimes his oppinions can piss off someone but overall hes an cool guy and one of my inspirations.
Dont even ask me !
Because I'm half drunk and probably in a few I won't be commenting or if I am I wont know what I'm talking about!
I hope typing under the influence is legal lol
Lol xD
Well maybe I will be drunk
Just maybe
Ahhhhhh no I don't want the after effects
I got to reminded of the old TH-cam shit and got sad on to how much went away and then it went from there
Did you actually made videos in the past or do you have plans for q&a's? Yea an big headache is the after effect i hate that.
They should do an album with Joey like they did with John and have Joey sing some Bush era material. Maybe not a song like "Only", but songs that use higher registers like "Room for One More" or "Random Acts of Senseless Violence", I think those would sound awesome with Joey.
+UneedaMedicalSupply I have been saying that from day one of Belladonna's return. The greater of two evils volume 2. And I highly doubt it would sound good.
Joey should redo a lot of John's stuff and call the album The Greatest of All Evil! I actually like both singers though.
I think Joey would nail any part. As Ian intimated, they really underestimated his range and ability.
I saw Anthrax in a small club in Brooklyn (St Vitus). At the end of the show as I was walking out, Scott came up behind me and said “Boy that band sucked”. That’s his personality.
Yes that doesn’t surprise me
lol what an awesome story!!!!!
I enjoyed the book. I've been an anthrax fan for a long time over 20 years and enjoy them just as much now
I was wondering for so long what happened between Anthrax and Joey I'm so glad I found this
Joey’s performance on Persistence was one of his best IMO. I was sad when he went, but gave John a go, he worked well too. Then he went and Joey came back.
Joey Belladonna is the reason I listen to Anthrax
Back in the day there really was only 2 thrash singers that could really sing - Belladonna and Erik AK from Flotsam and Jetsam, and funny enough both of these 2 bands are my favourite thrash bands. I was shocked when I watched this interview, how on earth could you not consider Joey an amazing asset!!!!
Belladona is just great man
“Respect? No. Who the fuck wants to read about me having sex?” 🤣
These guy's had to get Belladonna back into the band or they would have had to hang it up.
Well said
I would love anthrax if they had a better vocalist someone like Tom Araya, Chuck billy, James Hetfield or even dave mustaine
Joey is anthrax
@@kevinrodriguez9701 Yep. "A.I.R", dude! (Awesome opener of the "Spreading The Disease" cassette/LP)
Scott RULES!
One of the best Jewish metal musicians on the fucking planet ...
Scott is probably the nicest guy out of the big 4
The Puertorican Beast Jonathan Ayala david ellefson
Tom Araya, David Elefson, and Kirk Hammet Also.
Tom Araya, and Kerry King are both pretty good dudes as well. Tom comes off as a royal dick, but honestly the two times I met him I think its because the dude can't hear worth a fuck anymore.
Kerry King is a tool
Scott’s an awesome guy!
The band is finished now. Understandable that Belladonna hasn't said one good word about Scott and Charlie since his return in 2010. Joey basically is keeping the band together now - talk about poetic justice.
I wish joey had not been fired , anthrax would be global Giants now
Still probably the number 4 in The Big 4
And maybe then, Danny Spitz, who *still IS* the reason why I love Anthrax, wouldn't have gone away... I think there was a solid friendship and complicity between the two (maybe I'm wrong but I feel that in Oidivnikufesin)
To think that Joey was fired because of Scott Ian's personal shit is simply unforgivable.
@@provisionalhypothesis let's change _unforgivable_ with _unbelievable_ then...
Am I the only person who gets distracted by the goatee when he talks? Less so when he plays the guitar.
I'm glad that they didn't "move forward with Joey at the time", because Sound of White Noise is a fucking killer album, and I just can't imagine Joey singing those songs with the same attitude, power and aggression that John Bush does - his vocal style is too clean.
Joey is anthrax bush isnt
@William Baker
They were actually musically and vocally diverse, just with a unifying groove. And there's at least 5 or 6 really good songs.
@William Baker
I love the Alice In Chains meets thrash metal vibe.
What’s a bit comical is that the albums with Bush were not heavy.
I love John Bush but man sorry if you talk about Anthrax it's gotta be Joey's voice ringing in my head.
He looks exactly the same as he did in the 90's.
Didnt knew he was a jew... Anthrax music suddenly sounds terrible. Fuk scot ain
+RIk Aderson 12 year olds lmao
+David Ellefson your a fuckin racist scumbag! Your real brave here on TH-cam. Speak your mind around me and I'll knock you the fuck out!
How is that Racist, Jew isn't a race..
Kal Andrews so if someone speaks their mind about you, you’ll beat them up? Great.
On the one hand, though I know he had his own problems going on that didn't help things, it is messed up what happened to Joey originally. On the other hand, I'm glad that the John Bush era happened. I wouldn't have wanted that to NOT happen. And I still feel to this day that their original reunion with Joey in the 2000s, and expecting John to just be cool with doing the two singer nostalgia tour, was pretty messed up too. John had invested a lot of time and a lot of himself into Anthrax, and then they want to do an 80s tour with Joey all the sudden. I don't blame him for not wanting to do that.
If I'm honest, I have mixed feelings now. I think that Joey has done a great job on these last two records. And I'd certainly rather than him than that toolbox Nobody Nelson. But part of me will always wish that John never left the band. Because as good as Joey can be, and as much as I love classic Joey Anthrax, I got into the band when John was the singer. I love both eras, but I feel like there was still a lot more they could have done with John.
I got into band before John Bush, and am SO GLAD that Joey came back. As much as I love "The Sound Of White Noise"...love that Joey is back anyhow!
I equally love both eras of Anthrax
I read Scotts book, from beginning to end it's kvetching.
I can't believe how different Jason Statham looks with that giant beard.
Lyrics on Persistence of Time about his first wife.... "Keep it in the Family"
"But your actions, they're more than curiously.
Juvenile, you emulate what you hate
And you don't even know why you feel this way
'cause daddy hated this, and mommy hated that
And your own ability to reason's like a tire gone flat"
Absolutely astonishing lyrics, amazing that an 80s thrash band could came out with such conscious and deep words but perhaps more terrifying is how they still ring true. Those words could be describing the average Trump voter.
Dont bring politics on this one man... You know there is other countries that have serious problems in this world compared to your problems as having some fat reality tv business tycoon as a president which dont suite your mind because the race has only been fair if youre the one who end up winning.
Joey’s voice is better than John Bush. To be honest I did like Indians with John bush that’s it but the rest is amazing with Joey on Lead Vocals
My gf and I met him at monsterpalooza he was not very friendly and nobody was coming up to see him at all I gave him the 🤘 and he just nods his fuckn head saying right on right on like really man now I know why I was never crazy for the band
Whoever said John Bush sucked damn sure dont know their metal!
Amen. Bush rules!
Right On ! Bush Was An Amazing Vocalist
Bring back bush
I don’t see anthrax with bush I see anthrax with joey
I like Belladonna better but John Bush certainly doesn't suck : he's terrific and probably was the best replacement for Joey considering the band wanted a new orientation.
I think what happened was singers like Eddie Vedder and Scott Weiland became more popular. Hetfield sings lower, too. The high pitched style of guys like Robert Plant and Joey was seen as `70's and `80's, so to stay "relevant" they had to adapt and got John Bush. It made them look like sellouts and they lost status for several years, though.
Art Howard I kinda like the lower stuff - then again, I am a bass. Lol
He made the error of not realising that the contrast between the music and vocals on POT was what made it special and so effective. He took the most unique thing about the band and threw it out.
He didn't realise they were big enough that the world would adapt to their style rather than adapting to the world's style.
Also, Joey does Bush stuff better than Bush does Joey stuff and being as big of a pro as he is I'm sure he could have met Scott in the middle anyway.
Let's talk about Greg Walls
I don't want to think about Scott Ian having sex.
The man knows his audience...
Been listening to Anthrax again after a number of years. Man they got some great stuff.
This is the thing that happens in bands where the main songwriter is not one of the leaders musically. Jealousy ensues and self-sabotage follows sabotage your band sabotage yourself.
Well you know, the thing is you know because you know that you know
"The neurotic jew in my head"😂
Scott is an awesome dude
I really wanted to like this video but it already has 666 likes so I couldn't. So I have to express it as a comment - I like this video
what is the song in the backround??? the melodical stuff
What about Dan Nelson?
Make a you think you know korn video
Scott is only telling half the truth here about Joey. Scott and Charlie saw grunge popping off, and other bands like Metallica and Megadeth trying to be current, so they did the exact same thing. Scott blames it on his relationships, and that's part of it, and supposedly Joey was drinking too, but they also did it for commercial popularity. They had one really great record, Sound of White Noise, then three records which didn't do so well. When Metallica suggested a big 4 concert, they got Joey back. They actually had another singer that was not Joey or Jon at this time, but Joey coming back gave them the shot in the arm they needed, and they were able to reboot. I really wish they never would have ditched Joey, but it is what it is.
There's an interview where he said he wanted to get rid of Joey as early as 1988. I'm sure the whole grunge thing helped push them to kick him out though.
Wait, was Scott Ian in Anthrax? I had no idea.
He ruined anthrax in the 90s by getting rid of joey in which helped ruined the masterpiece 4 LP era of anthrax
When they fired Joey I lost all interest. Worst decision they made. Killed their momentum. They could've ridden out the 90's alongside the other big 3 but instead they ended up playing clubs to 100 people and carrying their own gear through the crowd.
Yeah, once Joey left Anthrax I lost interest. He is their best singer (IMO).
Keith Moon would have got the person's attention on the sidewalk and said "Hey mate, here catch" then thrown the television out the window!!!!
This is funny Scott is not the lead singer from Anthrax but he is the one who call the attention the most making tho others less interesting for some reason is it the sick beard?.
Who knows? Also, I think it's Frank Bello who controls most of the attention.
@@ElectronJohnSA control how?
cool guy, master riffer. \m/.
I wish Scott was my neighbor!
He's 100% Right, NO ONE would want to read about Mr. Not slipping the salami.
He really fucked up the band. Aaaah what could have been.
Interesting. He married my high school health teachers daughter. Leavitt. This explains when I saw him at Disneyland he seemed a bit on edge. He was in line to play After Burner that did full gyroscope and didn't seem like he wanted to say much. It's cool
My favorite metal jew
I wonder why he has a full bar in the background of his TH-cam videos with $200 scotch bottles.
you know
3:55 he's lying. There's an interview where he says they wanted to kick Joey out as early as 1988.
Motley Crue! Hha!
Scott should admit that the firing of Joey was because he's envy to Pantera's success with Phil as vocalist, Scott wanted a Phil Anselmo type of singer to compete, Joey is great but he has a softer voice. Sound of White Noise was purposely written with a different vocals in mind. In my opinion that's behind it all..
Women came to the metal shows Scott, we just had to combat the mosh pit… we were harder to see 😂
You easily got drunk because you're 4'8", Scott.
I like SOWN but its the only Anthrax album I like with Bush. I don't entirely blame Bush for this either because I think he is a good vocalist. The song writing went down hill. Stomp 442 being one of their worst albums ever. I'm glad Joey is back and he never sounded better.
I Love Scott Ian, Awesome as Awesome can be, but... watching him for 5 minutes, I just want to cut the remaining beard off... that’s all.
🤘🏻
The average height being 4'8" might be why Anthrax got so few groupies...
Hey, piss off - lots of great rock musicians are short and get chicks.
Midgets
What about ac dc tho?
Tell that to prince
I’m sorry but I never liked Bush . Joey is an awesome singer and I loved all the albums he was part of .
Hardcore shows were sausage
parties. Thrash metal shows weren't as bad but they weren't great places to meet girls or women.
First question seriously?
Yeah, I couldn't believe what I read. These days, decency, self moderation and modesty are one step away from being considered deviant...
0.0%? How was she able to take 100%???
As much as I love his singing, Joey does sound very 80s. I think hetfields voice has aged better even though he is not technically as good a singer
Mustaine had the metal thrash voice.. i live metsllica. And anthrax.. all respect.. but dave is the better singet and megadeth is the best of all thrash... mustaine has that kinda crazy fffuuuuccccckkkk in his voice.. the others are good.. dave is great...
Joey's voice sounds a billion times better than Hetfield's voice these days.
@@provisionalhypothesis that's what I mean his singing voice from the 80s hasn't dated as much
Scott has talent but he seems like a jerk and is only out for himself
He’s not a nice dude to fans. He was not cool to Dan Spitz and Joey. Scott is not a good person. He is better than you and you don’t matter mr nobody. POT and the song Time are Spitzy’s favorite…
I Liked the video but then I realized the number of likes was 667 so I Unliked it and brought it back to 666. 🤟
First divorce! I'm sorry man!
Ha Ha neurotic Jew , my thoughts went to Woody Allen. Listen guys somethin I don't know maybe it's my Ma channeling the TV but I think we should throw it on the other side of the building
LOL right. Im sure they couldnt get girls........
+Nicholas Cone that's completely false, but okay.
Sarcasm
I mean, John Bush is far superior vocally..
first
not a fan of anthrax, joey's voice is the worst thing that ever happened in metal
Why do you think that?
