I think GM Varuzhan Akobian is the best chess teacher as well. I download his videos, and watch them on the way to work every morning and evening. Respects from Turkey.
GM Akobian. The Endgame Virtuoso!!!!!! I am still strugling with his presented study material. Which is a very good thing! Especially the brillian 3. Bf2-c5 manouver still costs me sleepless hours! Thank you a lot, mister Akobian, I am very gratefull!
I just had the exact same endgame as in 36:26 and it saved my life! I blundered terribly in game but i managed to make a draw! Opponent was 2 pawns up and i wouldnt know what to do if i didnt watch this video before that! I'd probably resign because there is just no hope vs 2 pawns. It was perfect! Thank you Akobian!
barsorrro Agreed. These bishop end games seem more complicated than the trillions of positions that arise from the opening. I don't know if it finally took computers to solve these kinds of problems, but if it was a human then I am extremely impressed.
On the puzzle at 12:30 I knew that the king needed to go to g8 and that I needed to place the bishop needs to control g7 but I didn't know why. Now I know thanks you so much for your lectures!
Very interesting video. I never knew that triangulation could be used as a defensive resource as well as a winning resource. Funnily enough, that very first endgame position was white to play and lose!

I honestly like GM Akobian's style of lecture. It really makes the point and is very instructive. Thanks GM.
Marius Grobler
Likewise.
He tries to help you understand then tests you on that.
Amazing lecture! My brain is boiling after that entire hour. It's just incredible we can enjoy and learn from GM Akobian for free!
barsorrro its amazing

All I need is popcorn and Varuzhan Akobian
Yes!!
My ideal night in!
I always appreciate when a GM takes time to teach, because a lot of it is so far below his level... he's probably bored af lol
One of the most instructive endgame lecture
"Remember. Push Push, You Win!"
these bishop endgames are legit super fun
Very nice one! I really enjoyed that one, these endgame lectures are great!
Julian is definitely his favourite student.

47:00 There is a cheeky draw with Bxg6! If you retake it is stalemate.
Nvm lol Julian to the rescue.
Puzzle starting at 12:22- can't you play Ke8, Bd8, Bd7 blocking the bishop and queening square?
Black nestles his King on e6, and Be7 is no longer possible.
Sometimes when he waits for students to think.... And everything goes motionless. I check if my connection is disrupted.
Nice! Endgames are very important. Still learning them this video helps much.
Fantastic lecture.
one of the best teachings
Best chess teacher in the universe (Return of the chess king)
7:19 Why does the bishop need to move away there?
Julian?
this guy just blew my mind. holy crap. this is beautiful chess.
You are a great Teacher. Really awesome videos.... I am looking for more endgames ..pawn, rook..where can I find?
47:00 Bxg6 and stalemate
The master is back!!
Great lecture
At 6:40, what if the white king moves to c1? a3 would not be advisable, yes?
Apologies, I get it now. a2 is the next winning move
Why does Akobian always call Julian?!
Khánh Trịnh Julian has the answers!
Great teacher
can you please provide what games these are so that I can find the full game? Thanks!
I do not have in dept analysis on this but in the first problem why would Bb5 be any stronger or clearer than Bh5 ?
I put the position into the engine. Both work. Bh5 is much quicker and more effective. Surprised that he neglected that when a student suggested it.
Very interesting video. I never knew that triangulation could be used as a defensive resource as well as a winning resource. Funnily enough, that very first endgame position was white to play and lose!
what chess engine did they use? i wanna analyze my positions with stockfish and i dont find a good gui. Arena dont analyze my games, i dont know why
+Chino Moreno Arena certainly does. just click on the EDIT and then ANALYZE buttons.
So pushy xD.. Pusshh pusshh, and win! He's a great teacher :)
Awesome
I always try to get the answer before Julian... teacher's pet!
Good vedio
best one for ever.
Buy he's in check he has to move his black kimg
37:19 Somewhere. Guelean.
@14:48 so awkward lol
He kinda looks like old Eric Rosen
Regards from INDIA
if king goes here you simply push it, push the passed pawn!
Julian!
What is meant by sook swang?
it is "zugzwang" it is when it is your turn, and you can't move any of your pieces without losing material and/or getting a losing position
with the g7 control, i immediately knew the answer from the tip about kings never being able to touch, so that is automatically a no go for black king
This video is required to be seen for 3_4 times to understand clearly
Why is he letting the white pawn check his black king without moving it? He should move away
Do you think you know more than him?
