  • Rollups are way to "roll up" a bunch of transactions into one single piece of data to save space and processing power on the blockchain. Right now, there are 2 main rollups: ZKsnarks and Optimistic rollups and you can watch our video to learn how both work, including the benefits and drawbacks.

    Just a situation-
    In optimistic rollups if everybody thinks that somebody is checking, but as everybody thinks so, nobody is checking in reality.
    So what may happen if nobody is checking but transaction gets approved as everybody thinks that a certain transaction is valid because somebody may checking?
    Not sure, but my question sound's too funny. But definition love to get an answer.

    Awesome, I want to understand is:
    How can we effectively use rollups?
    What are some of the networks that work as the 2 layer solution?
    What I see is, rollups could effectively decrease the cost of transferring Ethereum, but how can I transfer Ethereum using it, to reduce my costs.

    • @loganmann9399

      If you’re familiar with the DEX, DYDX, they use rollups in order to give you the same feeling as a centralized exchange, but with far cheaper fees, compared to Uniswap which does not use rollups and is on L1 eth. (Although they will be implementing a L2 soon)- I hope that helps.

    Still loving your videos :-D Question - Timepoint 4:46 - How does basically outsourcing the computing of one task to another computer do anything other than making the work of the main network faster/less burdoned? I´m really thinking regarding the idea of ETH 2.0 being more environmentally freindly on layer 2 - since you say that this is what the layer 2 scaling solution does. Seems like a lot of computing power is still burning up power

  • @chris-nx1nk
    @chris-nx1nk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    5:11 The ZK *prover* (the scaling solution) does need to see the transaction data when creating the validity proof. 'Zero knowledge' pertains to the fact that the ethereum network does not need to know the nature of the transactions to deem that the validity proof data (to be applied to the EVM) is valid. That is, Ethereum is a ZK *checker*.

    Hi mate, informative video as always. Mind if I ask, what about ADA relative to this topic? From my understanding, ADA doesn't need Rollups because it has implemented the solution to scalability far ahead in its creation? CMIIW and thanks mate!!

    • @dcannon85
      @dcannon85 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My understanding: if ZK rollups work, then they will scale far better than Cardano or even Solana on their best days.

  • @charliehegarty5478

    I still don't follow why: if a rollup contains 10 transactions then wouldn't the size of the data be 10 times the size of a regular single transaction and so take up the space of 10 transactions anyway?

    Can you explain rollup for me a bit more plz? I’m kinda confused. If you make 1000 txns on the roll-up chain and settle that 1000 txns on the ETH chain, how are you avoiding paying gas fees for the 1000 txns being settle eventually on the ETH chain?
    If there will actually be only 1 txn being made on the ETH chain for that 1000 txns made on the rollup chain, how does security exactly work for each transaction on the ETH chain? How are the 1000 txns exactly confirmed and secured at the transaction level per ETH addresses? Are there 1000 ETH addresses involved?..

    Thanks again guys for the video, that is really helpful! I really love the first part of sending letters in one big fat envelop analogy! in few seconds my brain just understand what rollup is in a big picture ( have been reading many articles about it but keep yawning before I could understand a thing =)).. but would optimistic rollup kind of risky though that you are trusting everyone's work without further check or validation?
