"... that we should all be unsatisfied with mimicking the popular, rather than mining the fertile veins of creativity that God placed deep inside each of us." YEEEESSSSSS!!!!
This song is my anthem - in the era social distancing. I Stand Alone... the only test is to survive, I will succeed, I will not die... I stand alone 👌🏾
HI, MY NAME IS ISAAC, AND I STAYED ALONE, I AM A NEW MAN BY GOD THE KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS THE VOICE OF GOD IN MY MY MINED GOD IS GOOD 😊 THANK EVERYONE WHO MAKE THIS SONG GOD BLESS
ITS The EAST SIDE ANTHEM. You gotta know what common is demonstrating, Avalon park fights , Most of us East Remember those, Jackson park , THE Stones, STONY ISL profile. He's telling OUR story. ALL the WAY down..
My favorite rapper....and my favorite singer....on the same track...??? THIS MAKES UP FOR EVERYTHING BAD ON THE RADIO. what a find!!!! I love this song....holy crap.
Robert Glasper and his band are gifted innovated brothers that's giving us an alternative to redundancy in the music world. Black Radio and Black Radio 2 show's the versatility of Robert Glasper but make no mistake, his traditional jazz albums are also outstanding gems.
I love you so much man ! You play incantations, profound harmonies and rhythms that resonate with me on an existential level. Nothing but immense respect for you. Everytime I play the piano, I can find pieces of you in my improvs. And seeing you in Paris was one of my best memories ! Can't wait for you to come back once Miss Rona is done pestering us all. Much love.
+Charles McKinney Pretty much a BIG fan of Dr. Michael E. Dyson, I bet he did write it. But I don't know for sure and if someone besides Michael wrote it for him...it fits his style 100 ! Thanks for the reply also :)
Mr. Glasper, please feel free to release the instrumental version of this if possible!!!...One of the best tracks of 2013....Keep up the great work.....Thank you.
"No man can reveal to you aught but that which already lies half asleep in the dawning of our knowledge. The teacher who walks in the shadow of the temple, among his followers, gives not of his wisdom but rather of his faith and his lovingness. If he is indeed wise he does not bid you enter the house of wisdom, but rather leads you to the threshold of your own mind. The astronomer may speak to you of his understanding of space, but he cannot give you his understanding. The musician may sing to you of the rhythm which is in all space, but he cannot give you the ear which arrests the rhythm nor the voice that echoes it. And he who is versed in the science of numbers can tell of the regions of weight and measure, but he cannot conduct you thither. For the vision of one man lends not its wings to another man. And even as each one of you stands alone in God's knowledge, so must each one of you be alone in his knowledge of God and in his understanding of the earth." --- Khalil Gibran ---
"New elements were added each go-round... Every round goes higher and higher"..... That one snippet in context evokes a vision in my mind of a infinite, spiralling staircase/ladder.... Which resides deep within us... Our DNA.... The basis of our spiritual nature!
Whatever the color of our skin, "we all stand alone" ain't we ? We're so much sort of down deep alike tho'... with all our own trouble and doubts, personnalities... KEEP US feeding us with beauty Mister Glasper, please... you with your so talented and beautiful friends ! Much LOVE from Paris-France (when will you come to the New Morning or one of those basement cabarets ?) => I WANNA see and listen to you LIVE !!!
Absolument SUPERB, IMPRESSIONNANT... The end of it leaves you sort of breathless, so stricking deep of meaning... Anyway it is just Robert Glasper and Co., and all of it. Exceptionnal Monsieur Glasper !... I knew this tune and its lyrics, but never fell on this graphic version. It is so strikingly full of meaning of live reality... And this incredible , unavoidable part of (afro)american culture, that we're quite a few of us, here in Europe to be rather or totally keen and found of it, beleive me ! Cheers to all from East abroad ;-)
One time my English teacher turn on this piece during the break session, in my country at that time, Rap / Hip hop is not that popular, but for some reasons, this song hit me immediately...
I remembered during art class my teacher pulled out this song as well as other similar to his and it does make me think about if I was alone but nah at least I have my teacher who's passionate
Patrick is one of the best, underrated, most versatile singers in the past decade. Everything he's done in Fallout Boy and his solo material is so surprisingly amazing.
..and Glasper, you're not alone. We stand together, though I get your point that even collectively, at times, we can and must stand alone...apart from our other sisters and brothers in the human family.
Whatever the color our skin we're all "stand alone" ain't we ? Alone with our ourselves on our own path way, with our sometime broken heart, our own caracter, personnalitiy, charisma... and own real splashing wealth !
I think your statement is completely false. Robert Glasper has composed a number of different tunes that utilize complex and interesting melodic and harmonic progressions, each song of his always feels fresh and like a new experience. Robert Glasper always makes songs that come from his identity. He is one of the greatest composers and musicians on the planet exceptionally notably for how well he frequently blurs the lines between hip hop and jazz. You can have your opinion that you don't like this song, but Objectively his compositions have very complex and unique harmonic progressions.
"... that we should all be unsatisfied with mimicking the popular, rather than mining the fertile veins of creativity that God placed deep inside each of us." YEEEESSSSSS!!!!
