You are a amazing teacher . During my quarantine time I was looking for "How to learn Spanish in TH-cam". I found your videos are the best. Since I live in New York in a Spanish neighborhood so I am practicing my Spanish with my neighbors. Thank for your good advice about practicing the new language .

Some book recommendations that I have:
Complete Spanish step by step by Barbara Bregstein. Dr Evans mentioned this one. It’s a straightforward traditional textbook with no frills.
Short stories in order of easiest to most difficult:
Short stories in Spanish by Olly Richards. It’s Spain Spanish but I thought it was easiest to get through. I feel like he wrote it as if he was verbally telling the stories to someone. (We all know how we speak vs when we write an essay.)
Spanish short stories for beginners by lingo mastery. Lots of vocab that I didn’t feel were super everyday language. But definitely got easier by the end of the book. This text is more Latin American Spanish.
New penguin parallel text short stories in Spanish. These stories are a bit longer (I prefer them to be shorter like the other two I recommended). Difference is this one has the full English translation on the right hand side. I don’t know if the Spanish is just more complicated, but it was difficult to get through. It was written more like how a writer writes novels. Not like a speaker telling you a story.
    Hope this helps!!
Edit: my game plan is to make a daily goal. I read 5 pages of bregstein and get through one short story most days of the week. And of course watch one of Dr Evan’s videos per day. Gracias Dr Evans!

Magnificent video! Many thanks to the author of the channel for the recommendations! The problem with many people is that they want to take a "magic pill" or get "secret knowledge" and immediately have skills and abilities. However, the truth of life is that knowledge, skills, and abilities do not come by themselves. You can't learn a foreign language without doing anything, without wasting your time and effort, just like you can't learn to ride a bike lying on a comfy couch, listening to lectures and watching videos about "modern methods of learning" on a bike. To really learn something, you have to really practice every day. You're going to fall down while you're learning, and you're going to get bumps - that's normal! The ups and downs of learning are an integral part of our lives. Motivation from success and depression from failure will always be your study companions. However, every student has problems in his or her studies that he or she lacks the knowledge to solve. It can be: poor memorization of words; no progress in language learning; the student can speak, but does not understand speech by ear; misunderstanding of grammar; incorrect pronunciation, etc. Agree that a problem you don't know how to solve is very demotivating. In order to find the answer to our question we have to spend a lot of time to read videos, articles and books by polyglots. In today's world, we have to solve problems as quickly as possible. I don't have time to study and analyze a huge amount of information. My goal is to master the basic knowledge of a foreign language as quickly as possible and already start earning money effectively in the international arena. I settled on the practical guide by Yuriy Ivantsiv " Polyglot's Notes: practical tips for learning foreign language". This book is always in my bag. If I have a problem while learning a language, I quickly find the answer in this book. There are many different techniques and tips for learning a foreign language in Polyglot Notes. I have made my own individual schedule and plan for language learning. Now I know what I am going to study, how I am going to study, when I am going to study and what results I am going to achieve. No problem could stop me! With an effective language learning plan my professional skills are more and more in demand internationally every day. Friends, don't stop there! Everyone has talents that millions of people around the world need! Learn the language and make your ideas and dreams come true! Thanks to the author of the channel for the informative and useful video! Your videos motivate me.

I play duolingo but the thing to remember is that it is a game. It is fun to play and for me it motivates me to drill over and over in grammar.
I am currently on top of my leader board and it is fun to get points for practicing spanish, but not necessarily the best way to learn. I have learned that a quick way to score a lot of points is to review a lot of lessons already completed for 25 points each. I play on my phone but it seems like sometimes I am more learning how to thumb type really fast.
I play two other languages on duo lingo. These are klingon and latin. I have no hope of ever becoming fluent in klingon but still it is a fun game to play and helps me keep my mind sharp.
Watching your vidios is a great way to get better at playing duo lingo, and is also I think is a better tool for learning a language.
Still being homebound in the pandemic duo lingo is a fun way to pass the time.

Gracias! I have tried Rosetta Stone as well as DuoLingo. I am still not able to be conversational. I realized a few days ago that what I should do, is say something in English and then go to Google Translate and put it into Spanish. That seems to work better for me. At least it is practical. Al menos es practico.

I hope you see this note as it has been 8 months or so, since oyu uploaded it. I am fortunate Dr. Danny as I am in Texas and everywhere and I mean everywhere are Spanish speakers. From McDonald's to Home Depot to Kohls to the grocery store. But you probably already knew that. One of our grocery stores is called Rio Grande Market so that gives you an idea. The only problem I have is that often many local native Spanish speakers answer me back in English, even though I started it all with Spanish. Now, if I go visit family up north and meet some Spanish speakers there, it's a whole different ballgame. Most are so excited and want to practice with me as hearing someone else speak Spanish is so rare. Even with my poor accent. In Texas, it is old hat. Lol. Love your show sir as I know I have learned a lot. Also cool that I read that you are a Marine as I am retired Air Force and Army with 21 years. I was a German linguist as my last MOS and loved it. I think that experience helped me to learn Spanish faster as I was not trying to make the grammar fit English, like I initially did with German. Lol. Muchisimas gracias otra vez.

Hi Danny. I've been following your channel from the very beginning and absolutely love your style. I've got a question as I'm a little confused. You start each episode with "Hola amigos, Como estan?" Isn't 'estan' 3rd person plural? Am I right in thinking that you are speaking Latin American Spanish using the usted form? I thought one would use 'estais' (2nd person plural, informal), as used in Spain. Am i just wrong or just over- thinking it? Muchisimas gracias from the UK!

Danny what is your level of spanish fluency? We'd love to hear you speak some spanish, have you ever done a podcast where you speak purely spanish or similar?
What do you think of the comprehensible input method of language acquisition? Instead of studying grammar explicitly, just expose yourself to the language's natural use and the grammar will start to make sense in a more intuitive sense.
