This lesson is super useful, as native English speaker I’ve tried to explain to my Spanish friends how to translate “ to get “ but I didn’t know how to do it , now I just tell them to watch this lesson Thank You
I have been watching this Channel for 2 months now. I knew nothing when I started . I am learning a lot everyday. Since This video series for beginners It would be better if you explain all the words and verbs form more. For beginners we learn only some percent and forget some of them in a sort time. So repeating even basic things would help to remember and fill the gaps again . What I do is , I watched all of your videos with light effort first. I believe I got 30-50 percent of the lessons with this method . I did not force myself to learn 100 percent first ,It works for math not for language I think.. Because our brain resist new -different things you should not force it in the beginning otherwise it resist more and you dont want to study. After couple of days it will be a habit for your brain and little by little you will start to enjoy it. I appreciate for your lessons. You are the one makes Spanish easy . Thanks a lot
Gracias por la lección profe. Soy expatriado que vive en Cuenca, Ecuador y continuamente navego por los matices del uso del idioma español (y por supuesto, el uso varía un poco según la región). Your employment of "tengo que" at the end of this video, brought to mind the difficulties that anglohablantes have with the nuances of "necesitar", "tener que", y "deber". In English we commonly use "need", "must", and "should" interchangeably, but, as you well know, in Spanish that isn't always the case. Perhaps people would find a video(s) of those nuances helpful. Que tenga buen día.
This is super helpful! I realized recently that I use the word “get” so much that I need to translate my English before I can translate to Spanish. I’m working on replacing “get” in my English conversations with the words I mean. Hopefully it will help me come up with the words quicker in Spanish too.
A good one! And a good lessons on the accurate use of English too! “To get” isn’t really used in UK English in the same way so an excellent reminder to think through what we really want to express. Thanks.
I would still like a brief lesson on common words between English and Spanish even Italian and Spanish would be nice I know you're not an Italian teacher but from an Italian background we often use Italian words in English to describe food
I guess when you say ELLA SE ENFERMO, that ENFERMO is the noun..When you say ELLA ESTA ENFERMA, you use a ' A' at the end of ENFERMA because it is an adjective..is this correct ?...thank you..
"I got the check." My initial thought was you meant "la cuenta" (i.e., restaurant bill). Which then implies "I'll pay it." or "This one's on me." La pagaré. So it led me to wonder how you express the idea that it's my treat (this time)? This one's on me. But it appears you are speaking about the good old-fashioned paper cheque issued by banks, then....never mind!
Another word like get is "thing" 2 of you are repairing a car and I say "give me the thing" or hand me the thing. 50/50 the other person know what I'm talking "What thing" I still can remember what it's called " give me the damn thing"
Si mi hermano que estudia inglés entendiera español, seguramente que le enviaría esto porque a él le confunden mucho los usos de "get". Gracias por otro video informativo y bien hecho!
Did he or someone tranlate the 2 sentences at the beginning (I likely missed them) - Somebody get (answer) the phone - do you use contestar? He didn’t get it (the joke) - he didn’t understand it - no entiende la broma?
In the UK, we don’t use get/got in this way or at least not as commonly as this, but it’s a good lesson to think about what it is we’re actually saying before speaking it in Spanish.
First time visitor after finding your channel on a search for “I got” in Spanish. Great lesson! Is there a similar word in Spanish? I.e, a very commonly used word in Spanish that translates to multiple words in English depending on the context? Would like to see a lesson on that. Thank you and happy 2021!
This is a really good lesson. I'm English, and realized a couple of years ago that the English use of "to get" was just lazy and doesn't use the correct verb. I think that its worse in the USA, but sadly we follow along a few years later.
I agree that it is somewhat lazy. Even though “get” can technically be used in many ways, over using it can still cause confusion. We could aim to reduce confusion by using words other than “get”, but we don’t. Sometimes we use it twice in one sentence ie: “I’ve got to get that” or “I’ve got to get going” or “I get what he’s getting at”. I live in the US and had the realization recently that we use “get” so much that we really only know what everyone is saying because of context. It makes it harder for native English speakers to learn another language and for non-native English speakers to learn English.
@@taranaagarwal7349 Context... Reflexive verbs is something you generally do to yourself/themselves/herself/himself in laymen's terms. Like you "wake up", or you bath/shower, but the exact translation from Spanish to English would be "I bath myself" or "I wake myself up".. So when you use "mejorarse" it means "to improve oneself" or "to get well" or it could mean "to get better" in context... So context is key as it relates to sickness when you say "mejorarse" do you improve yourself? No... You don't... Or do you get well yourself? No... Do you "get better" well yeah, but not in the sickness context because you don't get yourself better when you're sick... You get help from someone else. Now, you can "get better" at weightlifting... You do that to yourself and the context would be correct. Context here is key. Getting better from being sick is something you generally do with help of your mother or doctor, not by yourself or done by "oneself". But you can make yourself sick... You have to be the object for which the action is done to, to use a reflexive properly and even then context is very important.
I appreciate your attention to detail and deliberate manner of explaining key concepts...Where did you study at the university level?...I'm currently at OU...
am a few years back in lessons but just checked this out - Did you lose a bunch of weight? Lookin good Profe! :) And great lesson - never thought of trying to think of the context of what we're trying to say before understanding how to say it in spanish! THANKS for that!
Hi, with the having to study example ,as you are talking about something you will have to do tomorrow rather than present tense tengo can you not say tendre estudiar manana ?
hey can u do a lesson video about Spanish words that sounds simmler when u said it in English for example if ur saying pizza in spanish is like your saying it in English put its the same how u pronouns in Spanish.

I’ve been doing the same thing. Learning Spanish has made my English better haha
Very useful. Thanks! How about one for the different ways to say become!
Hello Danny! Muy bueno amigo. Pensé que iba a mencionar “Cojer”…. Que en otros países quiere decir algo malo. Thank you!
Could tenir also be for "must" in the last example?
I hear alot of Spanish speakers use the word buscar, meaning to get
Yes, we use it that way.
Buscar means to search, not the same thing
I laugh everytime you share your sentiments on your examples lol. Tough situation to be sentenced. Lol
Likewise idiomatic forms in spanish."it has hot today" ...
I thought a verb is always something you can conjugate, you can’t conjugate se can you ? 😱😱

Beautiful thanks!
Glad you like it!
Wow I can add this to my vocab I never thought about how “to get” in Spanish. Thank you 😊
Great lesson, in English and Spanish, - gracias Danny
Excelente, como siempre. Saludos desde Irlanda
I have been thinking about English sentence forms that are particularly idiomatic and the use of "got" kept coming up. What are others?
Keeps coming up
c'est plus compliqué que je ne le pensais 😊 in english it is easier! Une forme plusieurs valeurs...
I guess when you say ELLA SE ENFERMO, that ENFERMO is the noun..When you say ELLA ESTA ENFERMA, you use a ' A' at the end of ENFERMA because it is an adjective..is this correct ?...thank you..
Also, "got it?" (Understand it?)
I am learning a lot about English language as well. Thank you, Dr. Danny!
Great class 👍👍👍
Terrific lesson..thank you/ gracias...
Maybe I need to watch one of your other lessons, but I keep getting thrown by the use of "se" in these examples.
I think that he's using the "impersonal" structure, maybe you could look that structure up.
before we get going... i see what you did there :D

Shouldn't mejoró take the reflexive se too in the context of getting better after being sick?
Perfect lesson! Perfect explanation! Muchas, Gracias!
Gracias a Profesor. Aprendi mucho. I “got” a lot out of it
Late to the party here. What about using the word, "agarrar" as an equivalent to "got" as in, "El agaraste (es correcto?) la broma'.

It’s not necessarily “lazy” the word does allow for the different uses, you find them in the dictionary.

Is consigir to get if it is what context would you use
please explain how or when we can use tilde . Thanks
Excellent advice 🙏🏼👋👍👌
Can I ask why 'she got sick' is reflexive but 'she got better' is not reflexive
"Getting better" isn't something you generally do "to yourself"... "Getting sick" is something you generally do "to yourself."
@@TheProverbialHaterYeah i guess so, Thanks!
i think mejorar can be used as the reflexive 'mejorarse' but I'm not sure

When is “a”required between verbs
This lesson compares American English slang with proper Spanish.
That's basically true.

Impresionante
Great lessons ! Well constructed ,comprehensive , logical.
Glad you liked it!
What about "getting" the services of someone, such as a lawyer.
Maybe that would be searching. Using the verb buscar?
Thank you so much. Brilliant lesson!!
Glad you liked it!
Great lesson.
Thanks! 😃
Prof Danny when you gonna start Portuguese series ???
Is Prof Danny going to post Portuguese lessons?
@@simdhaliwal4260 Yes, he said that he will be adding more languages (including Portuguese) in this channel !
this just highlight how much an "english" speaker is clueless on how to use the english language
That’s not being “clueless” it’s normal and right usage of the language, backed by the dictionary.
