Do you still want to fly around in the old zones, with the old mounts? Or do you want to experience racing on your dragon? That nostalgia for flight? The power that was used to push players into accepting grinding out an achievement that took chunks of playtime to obtain? It's gone now... Was that a good thing? Yes, but isolating a room within the building and remastering it is different than leveling everything down to the foundation and restarting. Isolating a singular system within the game, and remastering it, leads to increased layers of something that's already enjoyed. Restarting the game with a Classic Plus expansion is building another game ENTIRELY, and the old layers that defined the derivation of your enjoyment are now altered. It's completely different and not just some "Addition".
Horde NEED Ogre as a playable race, just as Alliance NEEDS High Elves. 2 races that are already part of their factions, but just not playable which is stupid. Retail though, I have no intention of ever playing Classic and any "new stuff" added to classic is just useless to me. Also I want some sweet customization options for Ogre, including 2 heads, and the ability to customize each head individually. Let us break away from the "uniform" this head has 2 eyes and this head has 1 stuff. Let us customize each head so if we want them identical we can do that, if we want them completely different we can also do that.

I strongly feel island expeditions should have been a continuous feature thus adding in all the small islands in wow lore overtime. We only got crestfall which is tied to wc2 the rest are new & considering the 4th wars in the past it could still just be a game mode that implements some story elements whcih has both factions just racing to see who can get the most treasure or which ever side completes the quest objective on the given island 1st.
Considering Goblins were going to be playable as well (which explains why they have both male AND female models in vanilla, animations for nearly everything including a unique dance) but they said they didn't do it back then because "the technology wasn't good enough to do a goblin city justice" , this was before they threw gnomes with dwarves and trolls with orcs starting zones. Since Goblins got added to wow years later, Ogres should have as many chances as them. A little fun fact, when I played wow retail vanilla years ago I wanted to be an ogres because I mistook the april 1st joke as real. Because it wasn't playable I decided instead to want to play a Goblin.... Yeah that wasn't around so I stuck wuth Undead. Because as a kid who hates horror; that was the smart thing to do and.. well I loved it! It was my first time playing a "scary" game for me, got me into horror so it's not all bad. Sorry, ranting again. Ogres should return and there should be a way for goblins to ride them, if not: a mount for goblins to celebrate them joining.
I really hope we get the ogres as playable in the future, the Horde needs its' chonky boys. But it begs the question what the Alliance is getting? Some fans thinks the Naga are natural Alliance members, but I just can't see it happening. Ever. On the troll front, when you think about it, it becomes clear they weren't a planned part of the game from the beginning, as they had very few settlements and were relegated to be hangers on for the orcs in most cases, even in Stranglethorn where they originated from, it's an orc base they live in (Grom'gol), and it's the same thing with the gnomes. A feature that was rectified in BC with bases in Zangarmarsh and Blades' edge mountains.
The only thing that really goes against naga joining the alliance is they're the reason the alliance abandoned the high elves, because they got aid from the naga. Though at the same time blizzard would definitely go through some story of how the naga that they got aid from were a bad naga and there's another faction of naga that are indebted to the alliance like how the dark irons were enemies at first or how only the zandalar trolls are with the horde

Sounds horrible, because then they will change things like backwards, this bullshit happened in the last few xpacs and literally killed the story once for all. Besides the shitshow main story line, everything else - background wise- got totally mixed up and ended up not making any sense anymore. They change things that made sense for 15 years and then retroactively they change some stuff, creating dead ends and logical errors. The whole story became one huge pile of trash, where they change things how they want, not caring about the sense of the lore.
He probably did not mean it like that, I think he said that if they made expansion that has similar gameplay as Vanilla, the duo balance of competitive / grinding (farming in open world). You have to realize how Vanilla is designed and what are its perks, while one can argue that combat is bad, one can certainly cannot say that open world content is worse than retail. Keep in mind that Vanilla has more traditional approach to open world content, and we can all agree that it is much more fleshed out design and has much more depth to it than retail WQs / event farming for collectables or even AOE hyper material farming, which is the dumbest open world design made in Korthia patch of Shadowlands. If you truly experienced depth of Vanilla's open world content, then only you will understand my point.@@akcat11

According to other interviews with people like Metzen and John Staats, Pandaren were the original race planned for TBC and were ultimately scrapped in favor of the Draenei - which is also part of the reason the Eredar needed to have their lore retconned to make more sense.
I saw the summary of that recent interview, very interesting!!!! Glad you covered this. Pretty cool to see what features were planned and how the game could have turned out. I started playing vanilla while at University. Early WoW was so different to the modern game.

The dragon isles assets from vanilla weren't scrapped they were used in BfA for the shrine of the storm dungeon. The thing about BfA entirely is that it's almost entirely cut content except for mechagon (presumably.) Everything from shrine of the storm to the pirates to nazjatar. And my personal theory about nazjatar is that it's made from the cut abyssal maw raid.
LETS GO! Bring all the stuff that was supposed to be, reset the timeline and make things right. Also bring back the scrapped survival profession. Get in touch with the turtle wow team, they already did alot of work.
If they really do make a classic plus and try to go back to the "roots" of wow. I want back bikini armor and more fantasy armor like the original classic. There is a reason Classic has so many unique skins. Modern wow we get SO MUCH of the same stuff that it just doesn't feel or look all that good.

Make no mistake I am not calling for ALL armors to be spicy but some more development for both genders would be good for the game. Mean while games like lost ark, ffxiv and genshin are doing exactly that and it super successful. The 2B legs in FFXIV is one of the most popular items in the game and ppl still run the old raids just to get them. Its good for retention, its good for customization and it gives player alternative goals that raiding or M+ grind that retail has fallen into. This is part of player customization too and classic wow understood that, I hope they use that sense going forward.
The only thing I would hope for is a WoW2 with a new storyline starting from WC3. Or upfront a WC4 which continue the story of WC3 with a new one and build up a WoW2 afterwards. I think the story from WoW just went to far and is so fucked up.

I forget what piercer it was, but they made ogres playable. It wasn’t perfect but it gave players a good feel of playing an ogre and it was great. They need to leave goblins as more neutral and blood elves should be alliance, or better yet leave them on their own joining neither side. So in my opinion ogres for horde and Murlocs for alliance make sense. Why murlocs? Because they are classic wow, and like ogres need their time to shine. Even though they don’t “look” alliance it’s an easy way to get them in the game.
Furbolg should have gone to Alliance when Horde should've gotten Pandaren. That is my opinion. Or they could have done Jinyu instead to alliance and give a reason why pandaren didn't join horde. Kind of like how goblins don't join the alliance. even though they are neutral
