Description
Whether you're an aspiring amateur or a professional-class golfer, NES Open Tournament Golf puts you right in the thick of a world-class golf tournament. Select your club, check the wind and the lay of the turf, and then drive your way toward winnings worth over one million dollars! Pick from three tough courses: one in the US, one in Japan, and one in the UK. Practice your strokes, then compete against a friend. For the ultimate challenge, tee off against 36 computerized golfers and compete for top ranking. It's all here in NES Open Tournament Golf! So warm up on 18 holes and move up to tournament play. The better the golfer, the bigger the prize. Give it your best shot and go for the big money!
Overview
NES Open Tournament Golf is a golf game released on September 1, 1991. While similar in many ways to Golf U.S. Course released on the Famicom Disk System, It features only 3 courses, as opposed to the 5 courses that were featured in the Famicom version. The included Courses are America, Japan and United Kingdom. It is thought that the two cut courses from the Famicom version were removed due to the difficulty. There are also some changes in music between the two versions.
Gameplay
The first player plays as Mario while an optional second player can play as Luigi. There are also appearances by Princess Peach and Princess Daisy as Caddies. In the game there are four modes that a player can choose from.
Stroke Play-Stroke play is a leveling system that can be played to raise between ranks. They start out as a beginner and then move up to amateur, semi-pro and professional.
Match Play- Is a versus mode against AI opponents that increases in difficulty as they progress.
Tournament- Tournament mode allows players to play for position against AI players. After every round they are sent to a higher difficulty player. The player also earns in game money than can be bet against an AI player as you play one hole and compete for the lowest score.
Clubhouse-is an options menu that allows you to view various stats such as money earned, choose clubs and clear saved game data.

Between some version the holes of courses change and are located on different courses, such as hole 1 in the Australia course is hole 9 on the US course.

The players on the roster are the people that Mario and Luigi compete against. Player 27-36 are all named after Nintendo employees that worked on the game.

This was a big part of my childhood. It's something I am only realizing why I love golf games in general. A friend asked me why I even liked golf games since I've been playing a ton of PGA Tour 2k21 lately, and its just nice to be reminded of where it started 30 years ago...
Seeing the title screen, the girl on the right is Princess Daisy. Don't get me wrong, we had no idea that Daisy was a different character in the 90s. What confused us was Daisy's earlier designs being a shameless rip-off of Peach. Even the journalists didn't know that Daisy was a different princess during the 90s. Daisy's old designs ain't fooling me, she is not Princess Peach.

I was one of those people , maybe you too, who was playing the gray game boy with super mario land in the early 90s. the instruction manual says she's princess daisy, as does the game text. we didn't confuse them. im really surprised to see her with yellow hair in the title screen for this game, cause she had brown hair everywhere else eliberately to distinguish her from Peach.
@@ianswift3521 The reason why many people in the 90s didn't know that Princess Daisy was a different character was because they were fooled by Daisy's Mario Land box design being a shameless color swap of Peach and her first video game appearance was on a monochrome system. In her first video game appearance, Daisy was a shameless rip-off of Peach and that was why she suffered an identity crisis for one decade. That's why she was restricted to cameos and references prior to Mario Tennis. It sucks, but that's what happened when you had to deal with those no-fun adults spoiling the fun of anime and video game to children. There were no age ratings systems to television and video games prior to the mid to late 90s, so not that many people thought that cartoons and video games were for everyone. I know it's not fair that Japan didn't get deceived, but we did, but that's just how society was for anime and video games back in the day.

LOL took me a few days to learn how to swing and hit the ball but once I learned, I became a pro at this game, winning lots of money from the prize monkey!!! What great memories of my childhood.

@@supernovel7514 It's Peach and Daisy. The girl on the right was miscolored due to NES' limitations and the fact that most people didn't know that Daisy was a different character from Peach back in the 90s.
