Was there a waiting list or wait time to join siu?
@@k.lefleur1608 not when I first started but now siu has a waiting list all the way up until next year granted people do drop out of classes at the last minute so a space may open up
Bubbles I’m proud of you. I’m on my phase 4 ship rn and only a week in and it sucks 😂😂 I’m looking forward to my sign off date frfr
@@brandobee2264 lol thanks man and yeah sometimes your gonna have bad days on these ships but you gotta remember you not there for them you there for the bag you got this man💰
Hey Young Sis. Thank you so much for sharing. I hope to be there. Blessings.
I tried to follow your journey on ig cant find you
@@ElevatavatavisionDMV my bad lol I changed my ig name a few days ago it’s trapstar_darri
How do you bypass time when u don’t have any service
@@mkwashington2612 luckily for me the ship I was just on has really good service so I didn’t run into that problem to often but when I did I just got on my game I brought my ps4 and Nintendo switch
How long after you took the reading and math test did you receive the next email 🤔
Honestly this set up don’t seem too bad lol. Free room? Bed? Shower. Sign me up…
Did u have to go to school for 6months or do schooling and would u rather work on a boat or a factory job thx
Took my drug test Im definitely gonna pass and pass security now I’m jus waiting for Neo to email me
@@Mariwicked Hey how was the EQIP and how long did it take for them to complete it?
@@Lioness_0007 eqip was long ngl but I was doin 2 things at once (at work) I think it took them a couple weeks,, i don’t even remember 😂
@@Mariwicked Thanks so much for the info
Hey you I’m in Florida Jacksonville and you have same last name as my mom. I’m pretty sure we relate but I need more help with my package
Do you know if the program is still all 5 phases? their website is still showing all 5 phase
@@noelevryd nah they changed it so basically Phase 1 is still 4months once you finish the 4 months you basically in the union by then you just gotta do two trips as a entry level 1st trip is 60 day’s second trip is 120 then you can upgrade to the next rating and officially join the siu as a b book
You are too cute ❤😂!
Can i do my medical after getting my mmc passport
@@mrchillin5326 nope because you have to send the Uscg your med cert in order to get your mmc
@@lowlifesailor9042 Thank you
After is notorized you scan it and email it?
@@mrchillin5326 yup pretty much just make sure it’s in pdf
@@lowlifesailor9042 Thank you
What kind of drug test do they perform? Urine, swab, blood, hair?
Thanks for posting! I've followed you since the beginning of your piney point adventure. I start piney point in Jan 2025. So ready! I'm older than average (mid 30s) and am restarting as I hate my current career. Your channel has given me the most information so far. Thanks for sharing!
Try mid fifty three careers and working on land I may need something very different.
@@gerald542 I don't understand your comment.
@@vorteco7692 I'm say I'm 53 and looking to change into another career. Mid thirty is nothing to start a new career.
@gerald542 oh. Sorry, I hadn't realized that we were competing. Congrats on the new career.
@@vorteco7692 No competing here. 30 is better than fifty to start this career. good luck.
How long you gotta wipe before you can apply for third engineer?
It says you need a physical and drug test as a requirement for the classes but I already got those’ done while getting my mmc do they count?
Same thing happened to me so basically they do count but only towards your mmc/medical certificate siu wants you to do there own physical and drug test at a specific company for the program
@@lowlifesailor9042 thank you
What is entry level pay
My pay currently is about 7k a month after taxes I clear about 5k a month
@@lowlifesailor9042damn thats higher than i thought what state are you in
@@tkooo_504 it doesn’t matter what state your in it’s about what ship your on and currently I’m on the Green Bay for seabulk
What company did you sign with ?
I’m with siu but the ship I’m currently on is called the Green Bay
You guys get any people a bit older coming into the apprenticeship? I'm in my 30s looking for a new career but not sure if this is more a young person's game only.
It is most definitely a lot of fresh out of high school kids there but there are also a lot of older ppl the oldest person I met there was like 60 but it really ranges from 18-35 is the majority
Your energy is everything hope everything goes well
thanks for the information, i am starting the process of passport and twic applications
Looks organized to me.
i am not going to lie before watching your videos, i was a nervous as to what i was signing myself for but now i am excited to start , i am going to piney point soon and i also picked engine, thanks for sharing your experience
Lol I was the same way I didn’t know what I was signing up for at all but I’m glad I did I’m happy with the path I chose for myself yeah you may have up’s and downs but it’s still good money also a really good experience
If you're reporting in Jan 2025, I'll see you there!
hey thanks for sharing your experience, I am going to piney point next month , i was wondering if there was a gym at the training center or do you guys work out or run as team while your are there for the 4 months of phase one?
Yes they have a well equipped gym at piney point and yes for like 2 weeks you will be working out with the head commandant while in galley I believe
do you still need Covid shots?
Yup you are still required to have a Covid shot
I did my apprenticeship on one of the green ships too, I actually like them (except for the low pay)
Passport twic card medical certificate mmc send to rec center (print off everything)
CAN YOU DO SIU VS MSC
I just graduated blue water and waiting on my MMC and med certificate I can’t wait
Future captain right here in the making. It’s coming.
Is the apprenticeship mandatory what if I already have my mmc?
It’s not mandatory but I was told that the Jacksonville hall isn’t accepting anymore c cards
Are you getting paid while out there? Since it's still training
Yes your getting paid more when your out on the boat during your training now because there putting ua on entry level jobs
Thank you 🙏🏽
W Vid 💪🏽
I deeply appreciate you!! Being that I also live in Florida, you process getting to SIU and engineering solidified my decision. You’ve been such a motivation and help, I’m going to try to get in by November. Do you have an IG?
Thank you and it’s vibewith_darri
I started the process with SIU in February this year and have a class date of Jan. Seems they're backed up about 11 months. 10 months from your interview date. roughly.
You look so happy. It agrees with you out there. Thanks for giving us a glimpse. I'm trying to figure out if I should just plan to stop at walmart once I go through the airport to get my hygiene products that are larger than 3.4 ounces or whatnot that can go through the TSA. I dont want shampoo etc to explode in my luggage or get brand new bottles taken from me by TSA. Any advice on that kind of thing? You know, most people, when they fly, are only going somewhere for like a week or two, not needing to have everything they need for the next 120 days. Feel? Appreciate any insight you can share on how you prepped for that. Like, you showed your big Aquaphor lotion.. probably too big to go through TSA. So, did you buy it near the ship b4 you got on. Thanks!
Great video keep up the great work and keep them videos coming 🫡
chillin in Chile
Hiii I’ve been waiting for your new video lol. Thanks for sharing your journey. I’m still waiting for my MMC which is taking forever but my medical certificate was mailed out this week. Btw I’ve heard that SIU is backed up so not sure how long their hiring process will take cause I’ll have to wait till next year 😏☹️
Thanks a lot for staying tuned in and yeah I’ve heard their backed all the way up until June of next year
@@lowlifesailor9042 yeah that kinda suck but I will still move forward and apply one I get my MMC. Keep up posted with your journey 🤗
My port interview was in march after doing my paperwork in feb. My report date is Jan 2025 and that is earlier than they expected. Some people don't follow through and I moved up the list. They originally told me March 2025. Looks like they're telling people 1 year from their interview date.
@@vorteco7692 Oh wow that’s such a long wait time but thanks so much for this information and apologies for replying so late.
Are you on the west? And are you a wiper? If so I might see you
I’m on the Green Bay and yes I’m a wiper
What company do you sail with?
The union I’m in is siu but right now I’m on one of the lowest paying green ships
How is it being a women working in a predominantly male field? Please speak on your experiences. Also, I know mariners are on the ships weeks and months at a time but how is the schedule? Another content creator says they have 12 hours on and 12 hours off. Do you at least get a full day off to yourself to catch up on sleep, do laundry, or just to chill?
So to answer your question every ship is different I’ve been on two ships so far and my schedule has always been from 0600-170 (6am to 5pm) you don’t really get any days off unless you have a really good crew and they let you off while your in port also every Sunday we get off at around 3pm to do some “cleaning in our rooms”
But my schedule ranges from Monday-sat 0600 to 1700 then Sunday 0600 to 1500 In between we have 2 breaks one at 10:00-10:30 and then another one at 1500-15:30 we also have our meal breaks Breakfast 7:10-0800 Lunch 11:40-1300 Dinner 1640 (we usually knock off by then)
Being a woman in this field never really stopped me I like to stay to myself and keep thing practical I don’t talk about race religion or politics because those are some very sensitive subjects for ppl on ships but I’ll do a video going more in-depth about my whole experience
How do you kno if you’re on a birthing ship?
Cant wait to go to pinny point is the engine classes hard?
I be watching your videos like you my little sister lol. I’m torn between MSc and siu. I just don’t want to go to boot camp lol Thank you so much for your videos
Lol thank you for staying tuned in I appreciate y’all and either way you still going to get to the bag 😭💰
Thank you for the content!! I’m looking to join the engine department soon.
Whats your ig?
