  • This is a full guide to making IPMO 1 & 2 for your garden. Big thank you to Chris Trump for teaching me about this method. Be sure to support him at ChrisTrump.com .
The recipe is similar to traditional KNF IMO collections except you replace 30% of your rice with insect frass or your favorite target insect.
Hopefully this helps you deal with 6 legged insects in your home garden. It works great for grasshoppers, scale, leaf hoppers, beetles, and much more. It does not work particularly well against mites in early trials.
For more information on natural pest control check out ThePestClass.com for even more in depth info on this method and many other great pest control options.

Can whole oats be used in place of rice? Also, if i collect the squash beetles in my garden, how dehydrated should they be before using them? Thanks

Really cool video I really appreciate you showing the process. It’s interesting. It seems a little different than regular IMO collection or at least you’re doing it differently with the wire cage over top only. I always thought that it needed to be fully covered with something like cheesecloth or paper towel. Thanks for sharing, hoping to try a leaf cutter any ipmo once i figure out how to collect them

Will the ipmo only work against the insects in the rice mix or will it predate others as well like aphids and spider mites?

No it works against a wide range of insects link of it like Beauveria Bassiana

I think the green spots in the IPMO are actually a good sign. Its probably Metarhizium Fungus

Typical IMO collections use golden ratio of rice to air and have a cover on top (paper towel) to create microbiome inside box. Are these not important with IPMO?

So there is a video illustrating that this works and how it works? If so please provide a link. If frass works for this, will ant frass suffice? Will caterpillar bodies replace crickets?

Il be doing more videos on this both for application rates and show you insects sprayed with it and results. This method worked very well for me in Zimbabwe and Oklahoma against grasshoppers and crickets as well as against blister beetles, japanese beetles, and root aphids. I know chris trump who came up with this method has had great results against beetles, scale, weevils, and other insects and other students of his have used it with good results as well. I will be capturing w few kinds of insects here in Thailand we have no shortage and try to show results first hand in upcoming videos as well. What i like is that its very local and it seems to work well all over just like traditional imo does. I also believe its a combination of predatory fungi and SAR response from the broken down chitin. On a seperate note we would love to have you as a podcast guest some time.

@@PotentPonics Thanks for the reply. One reason I ask is I grew the most beautiful squash plants this year in just a gravel and compost mix until they were attacked by squash vine borers. They weakened the plants making them susceptible to mildew. We still got a crop albeit smaller than usual. I'm a duck in new water being in the middle Mexican highlands now so learning new things. Back in southern British Columbia the predators like rove beetles which we encouraged were so helpful with controlling pests. My questions on ant frass and caterpillars is because of the abundance here. No pet stores with crickets.
On the podcast thing, email me and we'll see if I can do anything.

Is it stupid to ask if this IPMO will work with snails and slugs? Or is it only insects not Gastropoda.
Here in the UK, I love the show and this brilliant video, Thank you and I look forward to your progress.

While possible i doubt it. We covered how to deal with them in one of the podcast episodes i think its in 251 but i could be wrong.
