When I was a young lad I would find a grub hole and "fish for grubs". Just take a slender shoot of grass or wild onion and stick it into the hole with a few inches sticking out. Within a couple minutes you'll see the stem start moving and being pushed up out of the hole. Grasp the stem with your fingers and simply jerk it out and the grub comes out with it.
Grubs and beetles are everywhere on my property, they are in my flower gardens ,and in my potted plants what is the safest but quickest way to deal with them? I am growing tomatoes, peppers, etc in fabric pots and they are in the flowering stage.
@naturalhealthremedies You're TOTALLY the dude from WATOP, aren't you? I've been a WATOP subscriber for a couple of years and I happen to be particularly good with voices. I really appreciate the fact that, as a creator, you've refreshingly avoided giving in to the allure of letting AI do all the heavy lifting with your content (unlike so many of my other favorite channels that have unfortunately succumbed, and don't even bother to proof before they post). Thanks for keeping it real.
chickens do NOT peck or deeply enough to get the grubs, and their eggs contain dangerous animal tissues, including cholesterol @ harmful levels....chickens won't work ...never have for grubs!
I was just wondering if they are….i live near a popular fishing stream in NW PA, and I thought I might put a sign up that I can get enough grubs for several fisherman for the season. 😂
Grubs are Japanese beetles. Spraying Neem on your yard would harm other insects not just grubs, including ground dwelling bees. neem should be used on the plants beetles feed on and at night or early morning when bees aren't around.
Not only the Japanese beetles. There are other types of beetles.Anyway, Neem oil I use to treat some scin conditions. It is organic, cold pressed and expensive. As for the garlic water, onoins skin brew, mastard powder water, sowing mastard around my veggies(been done last season, now autumn in New Zealand, still growing) is OK.
It would be nice to include some information on cost and best application (i.e. square footage of area to be treated) of the various methods. For example, neem oil and garlic solution is best suited for small areas like raised bed or container gardens, but not for quarter acre lawns.
I never “battled” them. I was shoveling some 2 1/2 year old compost into raised bins, and encountered five or six of them. I just tossed them out of the beds and have not had issues since. But I have to say, they are ugly!
Is it possible to burn them ? I have many on my balcony. Or can i kill them and turn them and reuse them as compost ? Birds seem to have no interest in them. LPI like the garlic solution. It repels mosquitos as well. After next barbecue, there will be some rosting smell 😂😅. I must protect my tomatoes !ll Very useful video + useful chanel. Thanks
THey dont like lupins and mastard.I sow them regulary. And around the plants. Also, garlic I plant a few between strawberries. But the lawn--is a large area and is a problem...Now autumn time in NZ and a few bare patches on my lawn. When pulled a dead grass --4-5 larvae were found...
@@konchoktharchen6458 that’s crazy! I’ve never seen them do that:). The ones I left above ground just curled up and died. I thought maybe it was because they didn’t like the light. Because it was during the day
I am in 80+ degrees, in the hot sun, in NW PA, today, and I have thrown several on the road, in the hot sun, I dig a bit more, and get a bunch more, and I went back, they’re all gone, they move fast…I have no idea where they went. I was hoping the birds were eating them, but I wasn’t paying attention. I threw them in an old bowl I had here, set them on the road, and three robins were fighting over them. So, I guess I have my answer. I’m going back to digging. I live near a popular fishing stream, I’m thinking about getting some to sell to the fisherman. I have a small refrigerator to put them in, because I certainly wouldn’t put them by my food. 🤮🤮🤮
Wow or let them become beetles and yet again become part of natures life cycle and feed many other species and help pollinate plants. Or worry about your stupid lawns and show the planet how much you really don’t get it.
We aren’t caring about our “stupid lawns,” ya fool, we are talking about them eating the roots of our food plants….I mean, you do want to eat don’t you? I am assuming you just think food pops out of thin air??? Poof…there is an avocado. Well, at the least, you, more than likely, think that the vegetables and fruit you get at the grocery store is actually healthy for you, right? Oh, and, please, tell me how a Japanese beetle or a June bug will pollinate plants??? O wise one.
Tide powder is wicked. The thing is, this video isn’t so much about a healthy lawn as it is for our fruits and vegetable plants, it just so happens that these grubs thrive in lawns, but the video is addressing how destructive they are to your needed plants. I would not put Tide on any food plant, it is extremely harsh. 😊

😮👍
Fun! Haha
Thanks ...Very well explained ... much Appreciated...👍💐
We live in the country and we have skunks and they are very good and they aerate the soil while they ride us of grubs !!

Thank you sir for this fruitful information

Chickens are the best and fastest way i know of to remove bug and grubs, and they give you eggs.
I can not let chicken freely walk around my lawn, fruit plants, vegitable garden. It is obvious.
Not in the neighborhood that has an HOA🥲
Not practical for most people. Lol

When you get a mess of them , take them to a lake or pond and use them for bait on a bobber .
Where can I purchase some skunks and chickens ?
I did the "Milky Spore" treatment. Lasts for decades.
Looks like June Bug grubs. Absolutely great for fishing!
I was just wondering if they are….i live near a popular fishing stream in NW PA, and I thought I might put a sign up that I can get enough grubs for several fisherman for the season. 😂

You would have to spray in the evening after bees are gone. But I agree, maybe neem oil is t the best choice.

You can look that up online
Where do you get garlic juice? Can you reconstitute powdered garlic spice?
Good idea, I plan to do that or blend some fresh cloves with some water.
Can these treatments harm earthworms?
tHe Neem oil probably can.
Very good 👍

Believe it or not, I’m hoping to get more grubs because my chickens love them.
thing is the grubs that eat tree roots are a foot under the surface. You will have starving chickens and dead trees.
Getting rid of garden grubs might be a mistake? We might need to eat them with bidenomics?
You do you. Lol
🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮I would rather eat the grass. 😂
Lol
Hey, dig em out and go fishing. You might catch 50 bluegills or better. Crappies might take a grub is not enough minnows in the lake.
How about planting legumes ? These scarab type grubs don't eat the roots of legumes.

I heard neem oil then had to switch off. Neem oil will kill all bugs including polinators.
1. Milky spore or nematodes, then,
also, neem diluted as the instructions say, apply at night, and NEVER on a flower!
They don’t survive above ground. If I see some , I usually just leave them above ground
Today I just did same thing but after some time grubs were crawling like caterpillar so not good idea I guess!
@@konchoktharchen6458 that’s crazy! I’ve never seen them do that:). The ones I left above ground just curled up and died. I thought maybe it was because they didn’t like the light. Because it was during the day
Yes, mine I did around end of daylight.

👍👍😊😊
I use the local birds. All chemical interventions are harsh.
By draining the swamp.
My only helpers are squirrels and black birds
huh, they are bad for plants? my tomatoes plants grew fine with almost 8 in one pot.
0:31
get a net and fish them in the lake
befriend a couple of jackdaws and they'll provide in a daily lawn service for free...
Get some chickens. LOL
Just tell us how to get rid of them not blabla bla
Grubs are beneficial to your garden
How??

I heard put tide powder soap on your lawn, it kills grubs and doesn’t hurt lawns.😊🪲
