[TRIP REPORT] EuroNight Through Coach From Zürich To Prague By CD In Deluxe Sleeper Car

- EuroNight 50467 from Zürich in Switzerland to Prague in the Czech Republic operated by České Dráhy may be one of the last through coach service in Western Europe. The concept of a through coach service is that one or multiple cars will be tagging along different trains during its journey. This offers passengers a direct service with low demand places, when a seperate full lenght train won't be profitable. Such trains existed in Europe for years, but they have become very rare nowadays.
Our EuroNight train from Zürich to Praguec consist of just one sleeper car and it tags along with the Nightjet NJ 467 service to Vienna till Salzburg. From there it is coupled with EuroNight 463 "Kalman Imre" for Budapest till Linz and there it joins the early morning Eurocity 330 "Jizni Express" to Prague. It's is not the most efficient way of travelling, but this does offer some interesting connections which would be unable to maintain otherwise.
In the video I mentioned the wrong rail terminology for this unique kind of service. I somehow called it "destination coach" while it should be called "through coach" according to Wikipedia. Maybe my memory was confused here as the name in my own language is very different. In Dutch we call this a "koersrijtuig" which does explain it more clearly in my opinion. My apologies for the disinformation!

Grüezi! Thank you good sir! I've known that Bern was the "capital" of Switzerland for a long time, but the TH-cam channel of Half as Interesting explained the unique status of Bern even more and I learned a lot of it :D
Just for the record. If you should name Switzerland’s capital, it’s Bern. But officialy Switzerland doesn’t even have one
I would take this train just to try out the Czech dining car to Linz.

You can buy the ticket on the website of České Dráhy which is www.cd.cz/en/eshop/ From there you fill in Zürich to Praha and on "connection parameters" you select "direct connections only" to find this train.
I prefer ÖBB
