John Butterfield & Eric Lee Smith, the first two designer names (Ambush!) that jumped off the boxes of the games my friends and I were playing! Those two names will always be enshrined in my mind as two of the greats in the wargaming hobby. Any video with either of those two gentlemen in it is just a wonderful treat for anyone in the hobby to get see! Mr. John Butterfield is truely a gentleman and a scholar, what a super video! What a wonderful thing to accomplish for Mr. Chad Jensen & Kai. First class video Gary, you've created another instant classic! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lol, I'm the same way with dice! Not sure why, but I am, must be a fellow pedantic!
Great video with the designer. GMT's game production is always top notch. I thought the autofocus on some of my videos was bad. Yours went out to lunch on you here. 😂 Give that thing a stern woopin'.
One thing I will add the mounted maps are in a 3 inch box, so you replace the 2 inch box with a 3 inch box so everything fits in the box with the mountain Maps.
Game of the year for me it's really outstanding. I guess I should preface this a little bit. I'm a huge Chad Jensen fan and I play tested this game a lot.@@erichchaves
Sounds like a tremendous amount of effort from several people went into realizing Chad's vision for the game. Great to hear the background alongside the unboxing.
Thanks for this video and another interview with John Butterfield. I'd no interest in this game, as I see 'Battle For Germany' (the original that appeared in S&T 40 odd years ago) to be the most interesting and playable of all the games that deal with the collapse of the Third Reich. Then I saw the unboxing and---well, I ordered a copy of 'Downfall', and eagerly await the reprinting of the mounted maps from GMT. And hopefully you are feeling much better, and no longer ill.
I'd love to know the answer to this, although I get the impression that John is far too humble to call any of his designs a masterpiece (despite all of his games being incredible)
I normally LOATHE unboxing videos, but doing it WITH the designer makes it much more interesting. A good twist , much appreciated.
Nice touch having the designer on for the unboxing -- be nice to see that turned into a thing...
Great format! Now every unboxing video should be an interview too!

How do you like this one, Mike? looks great to me

@@Hobiecat181 oh perfect. Thank you for your feedback mike
Great idea having the designer onboard while unboxing. Also, nice t-shirt Gary!

Awesome interview. Well done .
Thank you for unboxing Ardy and big thanks for special guest - always a pleasure to listen to John Butterfield himself😁
Great format! Loving John's commentary!
24:00 re the cards, Chad and Kai understand UX and seemed to conduct playtests with that in mind. How do players play, what will they need, etc.
Interesting idea playing different sides on different fronts. The problem is the out come in terms of territory was pretty much decided at Yalta.

Somewhat disturbed to learn that Gary's camera has a pulse
Was wondering if Gary was wearing a head-mounted camera, fluctuating in time to his pulse. 😂
Well done
Question for John: which of your games do you consider your masterpiece?
I'd love to know the answer to this, although I get the impression that John is far too humble to call any of his designs a masterpiece (despite all of his games being incredible)
Ardie’s camera was having focus issues. Great content, though!
Yeah, I fixed it in post to the extent that I was able. Obviously I need a real camera.
Oh the initiative sounds somewhat similar to Fighting Formations.
With you when it comes to the dice. Gone as far as having colored d10 in every MMP GTS game to match the color of the weapon class firing. 😂
I’m a dice matching guy to lol
Wonderful video. The camera is a nightmare.
Game looks great
Great conversation, but the focus issues were giving me a headache. Had to quit about halfway through :(
You may have missed the camera reset midway through. :)
