  • This grapefruit jam is not only easy to make, but it's also refined-sugar free! It uses the whole fruit and goes great on pancakes, cookies, in between cake layers, and is especially great on either buckwheat or sorghum bread (check out those recipes at the links below).

    I added fresh mint leaves. To lemon jam. Them i did another lemon jam. With basil and rosemary. Soooo super savoury. Delusions. I have my own home grown ruby red grapefruits. I will be making some of this jam of yours. Yummy.

      Hi Patricia, the amounts of grapefruit varies depending on the size of the grapefruit and how juice they are.

      I would say 2-4 medium grapefruit, hope this helps!

      @@vegancookingmastery Spread is rather up to the artist regarding ingredients and process Id say. Its fine, the lnger procedure allows to have less fruit acid eg for those who prefer it such for certain combinations and if it would have been only done with grapefruit juice, actually that s the usual sugar making process, also certainly the zests will release their goodness into the sap much more, so there is always more than one view to sth. Love

      Maple is a syrup, it’s obtained from a Maple trees.

      Hi John,
      Sucrose is the form of sugar present in maple syrup, sugar cane or sugar beet. So, to answer your question No! it’s no different in that sense. However is is different the level of refinement that happens in all of them.
      For example:
      Cane sugar and sugar beets are refined though a chemical and filtering process and maple syrup is not a refined product. On top of that there are now research on how REFINED SUGARS affect your brain and overall health as we know, Alzheimer, dementia, obesity etc…
      That is the reason I prefer maple syrup instead of cane sugar, from here you can draw your own conclusions and make your choice. I invite you to also do more research and share it here if you find something interesting. Im always willing to learn and listen to other points of view.
      I also believe that everything in excess it will affect your health so, I’d never recommend to eat lots of maple just because is not a refined sugar product.
      I believe in balance!

      @@vegancookingmastery "and maple syrup is not a refined product" that's one of the most ignorant things you could've said... It may not be refined with chemicals, but it's still refined. You don't pour it from the tree to your pancakes do you? You really shouldn't give bad advice.

    Are you nuts! Maple syrup healthier than sugar? It’s sugar just the same, just in liquid form.

    So you don't eat sugar? Carbs? Are you getting ice cream scoops or is it a phobia??!?

      Haha of course I eat ice cream Ben and carbs, try to eat whole grains when I do, but most importantly is that I try to find a balance in what I eat.
      For example if I eat ice cream for dessert I try not to have a sweet pastry or cookies. I eat sweet things but my approach is not to over-consume them.
      Jam is traditionally made with the same weight in cane sugar as to the fruit you made it with, that’s a lottttt of cane sugar, so what I am trying to teach you guys is the way that I do my jams without using cane sugar so you can substitute it and have more options and hopefully more balance in the way you eat. But at the end of the day is your life and you will choose what you think is best for you. I’m just sharing the little knowledge I have I’m not a Nutricionist or a doctor.
      I’m curious about what’s your opinion about refined cane sugar?

      @The Lalo Lab food is fuel and I don't enjoy sweets. I meant a scoop of marmalade, but I appreciate the response.
      Self discipline is a respectable practice and I hope your efforts are rewarded!

    You lost all credibility by implying maple syrup is somehow better than white sugar. Totally misleading. Pure maple syrup is composed of sucrose, glucose and fructose, with fructose being the worst of the three sweeteners, causing NAFLD - non alcoholic fatty liver disease.
    The major carbohydrates found in maple syrup are sucrose, glucose and fructose. - REF: Jackie G. Stuckel, Nicholas H. Low, The chemical composition of maple syrup, Food Research International, Volume 29, Issues 3-4, 1996
    People who consume too much fructose can develop nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. REF: Journal of Nature Metabolism, Small Intesting Protects Liver from Fructose, Yang, 2020, Volume 2.

      You can do that as well, I’d just remove the seeds and chop it. 😃
