As a kid I used to live out in Carleton Heights. The bus used to run from there down to the loop in Tunney's Pasture. Many a time I would take the bus and see the Dominion and Canadian down there, me dreaming of far off places. My times have changed. Until the covid crisis, instead of taking a train people (me included) were flying off to far off distances around the world. Thanks for bringing back the memories.

Thanks for the memories. As a kid growing up in Ottawa, I used to catch the bus from Tunney's Bay to Carleton Heights (#3 bus I recall). I used to be able to time it at just about when the Canadian or Dominion went by. My father worked on the CPR as a conductor. He used to take us kids with him to Montreal on the train from time to time. Got to know the behind the scenes of Union Station.

Imagine that. A train going to a downtown train station

Hey Dave, love your stuff. Would it be okay if i use some of your clips for an upcoming video project on the grand railway hotels of Canada. I’ll credit you appropriately on screen for everything. Thank you

I hate to nit-pick over such nice film footage, but The Dominion was cancelled around the 8th of January, 1966. So this is either The Canadian, with older Tuscan cars thrown in, or else it was filmed a year or two earlier.

Given that this is primarily the stainless steel equipment and no heavyweight equipment it is quite likely the Canadian.
