That is some epic ingenuity... I dig that you used the back pole holders to mount your pipes for the motor... I Never would have thought about that... Excellent work brother!!
Well done. I put a pad eye near my hatch too. On mine I added a second pad eye under the first one (in the hull) so I can clip a dry bag or other items to it. This prevents items in my dry hatch from sliding around inside the hull.
I have the same kayak, With a Minn Kota 30 Freshwater, and a Saltwater 40 Minn Kota. The Salt water Motor is much heavier than the Freshwater one. I'm thinking of mounting the Saltwater motor to the rear Center. To keep the kayak balance. I want to buy a lightweight battery for it. They are very expensive, but I only need one. Let you know more when I get it. Happy Kayaking.😊
Have the same kayak and looking to put my minn kota off my canoe on this thing too but I got a dang group 27 battery so definately gonna be about additional 100lbs with bat and motor...could be interesting, at least these yaks ride a lil higher above the waterline I owned a malibu back in the day and that might as well been a damn paddle board
I have the same kayak. I was thinking about, in addition to what you have done with your motor mount, adding a canopy, as an extension to the motor mount, and incorporating a solar panel.
I've been running this quite a lot. I have had no issues or had to repair anything. it has been more reliable than I expected, super good one to purchase. 👍
SunnySideDown i’ve been looking everywhere for them and the closest thing i’ve seen or found to them is one that’s at harbor freight with clips for tools, wish i could find that snap ok tool holder tho it’s a awesome idea let me know if u find one
How much does the motor and batter weigh? I have the same yak and am thinking about adding a trolling motor, but I'm worried if the extra weight will make it more tippy. Any feedback for how it feels on the water? Do you like it on the side or would you have preferred it on the back?
the motor is very light. the battery is a bit heavier but I do not find added weight to be an issue. I weigh 160. the kayak tracks very well. to put the motor on the back would be difficult. you couldn't access it. the side is super easy. the only issue is it does turn one way better than the other. hope this helps
Good tip on the carriage bolt for the go-pro mount. Here’s a tip back to you...replace the regular nut with a 1/4-20 wing nut and put a rubber washer under the steel washer. Now you can move the mount or take it off without tools.

Pretty rad. Currently installing on rear of my Teton

That would be interesting to see. Good thinking. Hope to see it.
I am going use what you did on my kayak! I love it!!
it works very well. I have had no issues. it does turn better one way than the other. but super doable do it. it's cool.
i have this exact kayak. Awesome mods man , great job!
Thanks man. Ive tried it out a couple times and it works great. No problems.
Next level parenting skills.
Nice
I'm years late. But I just got the same one. How'd you end up liking your rig over time?

Saltwater 40 is around 18 lbs.

Heck yeah. Thanks Tommy Good tip. I'll do it for sure. 👍
Excellent
The weight rating is 275 lbs. How much do you weigh? The motor? The battery? Thanks
Also curious, what is your gross weight overall
Yah that’s tru and I don’t think there would be much storage for anything
I weigh 160. With the motor and battery probably another 60. All the other gear is light. No problems handling the weight.
Wow!!! 👍👍👍 i like,
where did you get those bungie hooks? what do they list as ?
Amazon under kayak accessories. Or kayak bungie hooks.
can you easily remove the trolling motor mount from the rod holders?
You can. But have to unbolt them. With them being bent on an angle they don't come out. So if you flip it you wont lose it.
