Great video and happy to hear people who actually played the position and at a HoF level recognize how good he is even if you destroyed my Niners back in the day more that I care to remember. Nobody is calling him those other guys but you don't have to be those guys to do special things. I love how you point that out.
Thank you, Kurt, for providing in-depth analyses that NFL fans can trust. There are so many bull shit talking heads in the media that are paid to entertain rather than enlighten. Also appreciate listening to a high character individual. 👍
Thank-you Sir. It is gratifying to hear someone with credentials (i.e. played the position at a high level) appreciate in this QB the kinds of things that make me excited to watch him play every week. I haven't been this happy with our QB since the Montana/Young era because he (and his teammates catching the ball!) make it look like magic. So fun.
36:45 It's a great throw in terms of scrabbling left, being pressured and having to make a shoulder adjustment to get the pass off. But big props to Kittle! Not the catch. That's a pedestrian catch. But observe how after spinning back he doesn't just run straight to the corner. Instead he immediately gets on the DB's hip and rides him upfield...creating a good amount space in the corner that he knows Brock will target. In doing this, now Brock doesn't have to be perfect. But he throws a dime anyways. Exquisite professionalism on display by both guys right here.
Even when the “avengers” leave and it’s all Brock doing the same things he’s been doing people still won’t give him his flowers. And when I say “people” we all know I’m talking about people that didn’t play the game.
Me too. Mahomes or Lamar does that and it's all over sportscenter and everyone saying amazing it is lol. "That's why he's an MVP or on his way to one!" Is all you would hear. But when it's Purdy....what athletic play?
Is there a reason Kurt is not an NFL head coach or offensive coordinator? Appreciate the analysis, Kurt. I was never a Rams fan, but man, the greatest show on turf was amazing!
Wonderful vid. Always great to get a vid from a personal hero of mine! I've watched every game Purdy has played in, and have always come away impressed, even in the rough patches. Over 40 season, I've watched a lot of football, and I frankly think the kid is special. If Shanahan and Purdy can continue to improve, and if Shanahan and Lynch can get the right pieces around him, the 49ers will remain relevant for a long time.
At the 25:00 mark the RB Guerendo missed his assignment. He’s supposed to stay in to block the line slid to the right in protection. Trent picked up the inside defender rushing and #31 was supposed to pick up the end rusher/blitzer. At the end of the play you can see #71 mad calling for CMC to comeback in. The All-22 end zone view has a better look at it.
Purdy should be given control of protections. That sack he took because Guerendo missed a block was solely because of bad pass pro. Like you said: "Make sure the QB knows who he is responsible for "
"Purdy just hits wide open receiver who then runs 20 more yards." "Yes, and the receiver wasn't wide open when he starts throwing it, but the receiver is wide open when the ball gets there, consistently, game after game. The previous QBs couldn't do it. I wonder why!"
Thanks Kurt. Shows how hard it is to play QB. I don't think many people can diagnose schemes quickly in real time. It's one thing to see it on film after the fact. and another to do it live. Brock's fades to CMC and Kittle were amazing throws.
@@sparthir yeah maybe - 16 or 8 would be cool, but those are retired numbers so unfortunately he can't do it. You may know this but I wrote this comment because Kurt wore number 13. We'll tell Kurt Warner Brock chose the number because of Kurt, lol - but we know the real reason is because he was a Marino fan growing up.
On that redzone play it looks to me like Jennings slowed down right after making his break, and that allowed the CB to close in and the throw to be off the mark.
He's not only talented but he's extremely lucky. In college, he was qb 3 his freshman year and after injury & performance issues to qb's 1&2, he ended up starting the rest of his college career. The exact same thing happened in SF. He was qb3 his first year and after injuries to 1&2, he was starting by the end of the season and post-season. The odds of that happening to a qb3 has to be infinitesimal but he is an excellent qb.
Love the perspective of the pass to Juaun Jennings in the end zone. JT O'Sullivan was critical of Jennings. Kurt is critical of Brock. Really just comes down to timing, trust, and experience. An older Brock likely throws the ball quicker.
How many former qbs like Warner, Daniels, O’Sullivan will it take calling out Kyle for his poor protection schemes and or injuries to Brock before Shanahan finally listens??? His protection schemes weekly put the qb in a lot of harms way and cost us a superbowl. Please make some changes to that. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
They all call out his drop back pass designs too. Kyle is great at running schemes but every game Purdy has to be the bandaid (as JT O’Sullivan puts it) for Shanahan’s passing scheme.
On The Juaun td miss, if you watch juaun in the endzone you can see he hesistates in the end zone before going to the spot, i think purdy was expecting him keep running. a little high by purdy though. @35:09
I think Guerendo was supposed to read the pass rush. If Trent's guy moves towards the inside, then Trent will pick up the guy who sacked BP, but if Trents guy stays on him, then Guerendo has to pick up his guy. There's no way you chip on this play. Really the only time you chip, is when you know someone will pick up the free rusher, OR if you know you're the first read on the play. Because Guerendo had to know it's an empty backfield, so he had to have thought he was getting the ball, otherwise just stay in and block. He def was wrong on the play, and like you said based on Trent's reaction, he F'd up.
@@bobbymira8234 For sure, not too mention Purdy appears to run the play as if the backside protection was set, it was not a case of a free rusher. People wonder why Guerendo and Mason get limited time. These are examples. If you cant get your blocking assignments down, you don't earn the opp to run the ball.
Majomes this season has been less than mid. Carried by Spags and the defense like every yr. Will never be in the convo with Montana, Brady. 2nd tier qb.
Thanks Kurt for breaking this game down and giving Purdy's props for being a great QB in this league

15:15 Puni doing Puni things…good vision and quickness. Rookie’s got a future in this league. 👍
Heads up play there.
Appreciate you after being a legend destroying 49ers hopes in AZ & STL glad we got our almost undrafted legend like you Warner.

The avengers took a LOA and now we got the teen titans. Adjustments still being made but this team is on the up.
I love videos like this because it show how detailed every position has to be for things to work.
Love the jump throw Brock did this game to CMC

32:41 exactly! Most non former QBs don’t understand how few starting NFL QBs can make that type of throw.
How Brock Purdy can do what he does with absolutely no protection. Never seen anything like it.

If u say so, just usually don’t ask RBs to block the end man in LOS but I’ll believe u!

Kurt Warner, I think we all know why Purdy is ballin out - Because he wears number 13. Am I wrong?
By that logic he'd be way better wearing 16 or 8. 😂

You could argue he's unlucky in that he's a better QB than the ones ranked before him on the depth charts but it took injuries for him to get a chance
The most interesting thing is that qbs make this reads in 3 seconds
Awesome stuff thank you

It really does look like Jennings pulls up a bit.
brock looks like a mix of young and Montana on the field, its so fascinating

Yeah, I’ve known this since his first start
I saw something special about him in his first reps in his first preseason game.
He's a natural.
@ same !! Me and my dad both said in his first preseason start, "well at least if Jimmy goes down, we have this kid" and lo and behold…🤩
@@RisitasKEKW He's better than both of Jimmy and Trey, combined. He's the best since Young.

Based on Trents reaction, 31 Guerndo was supposed to stay in. Either way why would you put a rook RB on a DE.

Hey kurt id love to see a breakdown on purdys out routes really wondering if he's only at his best between the numbers or if its a play calling issue
Ppl who know and understand the game give Brock his due credit! Period!
Good job Kurt but please show the end of each play. You cut the film off too early. Yea I like the route analysis but finish each play. Thanks😅
As a niner fan Brock is good overall but still has a lot to work on throws a lot of balls late/ behind the receiver but that could be easily fixed
2:30 😂
Somebody tell Nick Wright
Thanks captain obvious!
Boring 😔🪴
You've never played organized sports. It shows.
Kurt has nothing but nice things to say about everyone, God bless his soul 😂 Purdy mid af
Plenty of people that played the game say good things about Purdy. Clearly your football knowledge is mid af. 🤡
Truth hurts, I know😂 You can't stand Purdy getting praise and it shows
@ truth is not winning a SB in 30 years hurts. 😞
