The hospital I work at just recently put in a policy that allows them to refuse hiring smokers. Glad they did. Nothing is more ironic than a nurse telling a patient to quit smoking, and then taking a cigarette break.
Dan Sanchez All hospitals in my state are supposedly smoke-free sites. There are still occasionally small groups of admin staff or nurses smoking out the back. Patients also manage to sneak out for a cigarette. It's not unusual to get a code blue called out to the forecourt for a patient who decided to go out and smoke.
Bryan Estep And why is that? First of all, it is a fire hazard in hospitals with oxygen tanks. Secondly, they are trying to make hospitals cleaner and get their employees to be more healthy.

I know they can keep you from smoking AT work, but can they legally deny you employment because you are a smoker? Interesting.
These kids dont realize that back in 40-60s everyone smoke cigs.. cigs were HUGE back in the 50s and 60s so no wonder they would have like 1000000x diff commercials

Sure, John Wayne smoked Camels, six packs a day to be precise. He had lung cancer by 1964 at age 57 had his left lung removed. Continuing smoking, he developed stomach cancer and then had heart issues before his death in 1979. Awesome actor, loved every movie he did but common sense eludes those that deny truth.

When I was a kid in the early 80's every restaurant had a smoking section. You had to tell the staff you wanted to be seated in non-smoking to avoid it, like that really helped much. As a kid, we had candy cigarettes, cigars, and pipes. Also, I remember cigarette vending machines in restaurants and other places. No age verification there. Also, I remember how ashtrays were simply everywhere in public. When you were out, a common smell was cigarette ash.

I was surprised that even doctors smoke in the 1960's. But the question is why do doctors smoke when they are doctors (who take care of people who are sick)? : 0
@@OsagieGuobadia thing about it doctor's still smoke cigarettes I know tons of Doctors that smokes both my Aunt's are nurses who smokes my friends Dad is a doctor and is a Chain smoker, both of my Doctors also smokes.
Here in italy 45% of doctors smoke, like being a doctor makes you more likely to smoke for some reasons, whenever you go to the ER you see them on their breaks outside smoking with nurses and borrowing or lending lighters with their patients

Yeah, same here. I live in Switzerland and here smoking is really common. Even though teachers and others warn you and all. I would say most of the teens here at least tried smoking.

Razzlewolfflight I'm about the same age as the Fine Bro's and while I didn't look up cigarette commercials for Lucy, it does make sense. In almost every episode you see the Ricardo's and Mertze's smoking, so I wasn't as surprised as I think you or the teens were.

I go to a university in California. You cannot walk onto campus for even a minute without a giant vape smoke cloud hitting you in the face. Next year the campus is going smoke-free do to it.

30 minutes to an hour of intense cardio ED w/ ecigs, cant say the same for the 15 years I smoked. Could barely make it up 3 flights of stairs and got bronchitis all the time. Such misinformation, fear mongering and stereotyping just due to it's association with smoking. Not saying for kids to use them, just that for current smokers it has been a life saver.

"It's their choice" whether they want to smoke or not? It's a public health issue, we should give them all of the correct information so they can make the right choice and not let word of mouth take over.
I won't promote/ recommend E-cigarettes until substantial proof of their safety is approved by the NHS and NICE guidelines and even then I'll be warning customers and patients of misconceptions about their safety and efficacy, as I've been doing now.

You don't always get lung cancer my grandpa started smoking when he was in Vietnam and until he passed away. He went through 5 packs a day and never had any lung cancer. He lived off of cigarettes though he could actually live without them for a bit. So I guess it really depends on how long you smoke especially when you have to live off of them during Vietnam.

Cigarette ads play ALL THE TIME in my country and they are literally EVERYWHERE even in the remote villages and they are very cheap. You can ask your 5 year old kid to go and buy some for you and they would actually come back with a pack.

I would have to see the actual data, the chemical breakdown, in the studies for E-cigarettes, because the deadliest carcinogen that causes cancer from actual tobacco is [Tar]. There isn't any [Tar] in E-cigarettes or vapor.
I don't smoke, but I would say that there are deadlier carcinogens, at much higher levels, in our food than there is in the vapor from an E-cigarette.

There may not be tar in E-cigarettes but there is nicotine. If you look deep enough on the internet you find countless stories of young children eating nicotine refills and dying.

Watching this was entertaining. There were cigarette ashtrays in the waiting rooms of hospitals. Ashtrays in fast food restaurants, airplanes & the lobbies of public schools. There are billboards that advertise cigarettes, still in 2021. Unless, they have been removed, as well. Being aware of how much has changed in just the last 20 years, is pretty fascinating.
My mum has an e-cigarette . I heard on the news that scientists have said that vapours are 10 times more safer then actual cigarettes. Tbh as long my mum doesn't smoke actual cigarettes, I'm happy.

It was a very different age back then. I grew up in the 70s and though a lot of these were no longer aired, adverts were still in magazines and newspapers.
E-cigs are actually healthier than real cigarettes
Vapes are actually the best to use because e-cigarettes still have nicotine in them. In vapes, you can decide the amount of nicotine you want in it, including none.

***** Do you know how much radiation you get from smoking normal cigarettes? Smoker lungs receives about 160 000 microsieverts of radiation every year. That is almost the same amount that astronauts receives in one year on the space station. That is just insane! At least when you are smoking e-cig you don't have to worry about radiation.
