- Political parties in Pakistan have been locked in coalition talks today - following an election that's only increased instability.

Candidates backed by jailed former prime minister Imran Khan won the most seats, which was a blow to the military establishment who launched a fierce crackdown on his party ahead of the vote.
Another former prime minister, Nawaz Sharif, is looking to build a governing coalition.

There was no shock result. Clearly PTI won with 2/3 majority. And army is finding it hard to make Nawaz Sharif’s party as majority by rigging elections

The smallest possible majority would be 51%, I think his percentage was below this. He has however, received that 'largest number of votes'.
Under more favourable circumstances, he might well have got 2/3 of the vote.

This second analyst lady was just appalling! While I agree with her that this election will be a missed opportunity, her just justification and claims are simply false! Pakistan has always been a deeply polarised country politically. This is the first time the country is actually NOT polarised and have given a clear mandate to just one party! The people have no interest in political parties "sorting out their differences"! They have made an unequivocal choice. And all they want is their choice to be respected!

There is no 'fragmented' result nor is the country 'polarized'. PTI won more than a 2/3rd majority which shows ultimate unity. It's only that the PTI mandate is not being accepted by the "powers that be".
So on one side is the people of Pakistan who have spoken very clearly despite all odds and on the other side, you have those old rotten stakeholders who just don't want to let go of their grip and old ways despite the evidence on February 8th that their time is up!!
