    I know I did some yellow squash a few years back - a neighbor had tried growing squash, but plans for them changed and they moved out. My aunt got the place. By that time, there were some squash gourds that I'd just nudge around, especially as it was winter by that point. Spring and Summer come, and I decided to amend the garden bed. Saw the gourds, and I was like "I wonder what will happen?" and I broke them open, scattered the seeds around the bed, and put the dirt/potting soil/compost into the bed. Then I put in a few tomato and pepper plants, and a few flowers (all of which I'd gotten for free). Well, got a lot of squash - ate it at least once if not twice a week for a couple of months.

    ❤️ ur vids.I live in a really cold climate I start my squash 10-12 weeks before planting and I got an okay harvest for a first year 27lbs especially with the aphid infection I had so I can be done I believe my pots are 10” high by 5” wide I’d say we have maybe 100 days of growing.
    Your videos inspired me to go vertically it’s pretty amazing my tallest squash plant was between 17-20’ tall I came a-crossed another video she caps hers I may try that this year.
    Thanks for inspiring people to do what they’ve been told they can’t and happy gardening.TY.😊

    Have you tried roasting it? Brush with butter or olive oil and put in your oven at 350f or 180 C until tender (about an hour). The flavor is more robust and it gives you the chance to roast your onions, garlic, or other vegetables for the soup too. I recommend a vegetable broth of 2 onions, 2 garlic cloves, a celery stalk, and herbs de province in 2 quarts of water brought to a boil.

      @@kimzachris5340 Hi, thanks for sharing. May I ask how your harvest was. Also, were they store-bought squashes?

    • @kimzachris5340
      @kimzachris5340 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ijeomaakubue7297 Yes, they were store bought. The harvest was not plentiful at all, but we had an unusually cold summer here last year (rarely above 60 F/15 C), and very rainy. It turned out, however, that oven roasted unripe butternut squash is delicious, so I am trying it again this year and hoping for a better summer and better results with an earlier start. We have a very short season with last frost in early june and first frost mid-september, so I might still only get unripe squash, but I wanted to give it another go. Nice greenery for the balcony if nothing else.

      If you are using a potsoil or combination of building sand and potmoss, then probably overwatering or underwatering. Water turns yellow for either... Or too much sun.. and do not fertilize it wait for it to be a little grown up

      My seedlings did the same. I would suggest being very delicate with the root system, and using fresh, nutritious soil. If the seedlings were grown in the same container, don't separate them because it will destroy the root system and seedlings.
