    Ya! Who ever worries about that drive shaft. I'm here to see what people are saying about the CLUNK at low speeds. So far I found out greesing the yolk shaft is a must, 40 years of banging the clunkers and I rarely ever messed with a drive shafts. Now I know what to do with those old bottles of hair Greece.

    They can't be serious with that, I just greased my Tom Woods Drive Shaft last night and I was confused when I couldn't find the middle zerk for the ball joint of the double cardan.
    The original Toyota one had a design where dessert kind of came out at a weird little angle but it was possible to get to it with no problem.
    If you seriously have to undo the drive shaft just to get to that damn thing that's completely unacceptable design

    I picked up a 90° needle for the grease gun. If I rotate the DS just right, I can get it without dropping it. Although, not sure it saves any time over removing the four bolts and dropping it down...but makes me feel better, lol.

    Thanks for sharing and getting good camera angles. I just came in from the garage trying to figure out why my double cardan is still squeaking, even after greasing the U-joints. I didn't know that the center pivot is likely greaseable. Unfortunately, I don't have a needle adapter and it's midnight right now...

    How often does this need to be done? I have a Tom Woods front shaft.

    So how do you grease that inverted style? Do you need a special tool?

    My 93 Cherokee does not have any places to grease the u-joints ? Lots of rumbling and grinding when driving.

    So my front and rear drive shaft says the bolts have to have red loctite on them... So they expect me to break those red loctite bolts every 5,000 miles? What cluster fuck

      Get some orange loctite. Hold of red but breaks free like blue

    I have a Tom Woods double carden front shaft for my WK, and I have none of the zerk fittings on the U joints for some reason. The only two I can find are on the centering yoke and then one inverted fitting on the rear U joint buried inside. No way for me to grease the front side u joint, and I cannot get grease into the inverted fitting no matter what I use, needle, rubber nipple, etc.

      Sealed joints. Some have zerks on the joints and others are “gold” or “lifetime”, etc - greased and sealed

      @CHAOSMOVEMENT 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@willywinkle7788 Yeah I've since looked into it further and realized they used sealed joints on some of the bearings, the slip yoke is grease-able and the front of the double carden joint has an inverted grease point. As long as I got the right procedure idc that much, they used good bearings. This shaft is a beast compared to the OE.

    • @DesertGuzzi
      @DesertGuzzi 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are no grease fittings on stock driveshafts as they use Rezeppa (CV) joints
