    Warning:
    Inadequate lubrication can cause driveline failure, which can result in separation of the driveline from the vehicle. A separated driveline can result in serious injury or death.
    In order to minimize the potential for driveline failure, including driveline separation, you must:
    Carefully review the lubrication specifications in this brochure and lube manual located in our Literature Library.
    Make sure you use only approved lubricants. We recommend Spicer® ultra-premium synthetic grease.
    Make sure you lubricate at recommended intervals.
    U-joint Kit Lube Procedures
    Spicer® greasable U-joint kits contain only enough grease to provide needle bearing protection during storage. Prior to installing a new U-joint into the driveshaft, you must:
    Remove each bearing assembly and pack each journal cross lube reservoir with grease.
    Wipe a liberal coating of the same grease into the each bearing assembly, filling all of the cavities between the needle rollers.
    Apply a liberal coating of grease into the bottom of each bearing cup.
    Apply grease gun pressure to each U-joint until fresh grease appears at each bearing seal. This purging action not only assures that every bearing has been properly greased, but flushes out any moisture and abrasive contaminants that may have worked their way past the seals

    should always use silicon based grease on real rubber parts, While WD-40 & Vaseline and other petroleum products may degrade real rubber (actually made from the rubber tree), current o-rings and bushing technology does not use natural rubber. They are made of Polyurethane (urathane) ... With this in mind, you should have no worries about whether to utilize Vaseline or WD-40 on any of the bushings.Also if an bushing is made from, nitrile, for example (a material used in car fuel and oil lines) then there is no problem using petroleum grease to lubricate the bushing as this current technology is resistant. Cheers!

    How often do you grease underneath the jeep?

  • @henrybucki7813
    @henrybucki7813 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    i found it to be helpful to wipe grease fitting of dirt before greasing or you could push dirt into fitting also make sure fitting are working they can stop up and you are just pushing grease into the blue instead of into the ball joint

    When I put grease in, it comes out of the sides of the boot. Are my boots shot and need replacement or is that supposed to happen?

    Wouldn't white lithium grease work better than WD-40?

    • @SimonRiley115

      White lithium will eventually eat the paint, I use motorcycle chain lube , prefer the thicker Lucas brand

    great video, a real help on getting all those grease points. Any word on stock drive shafts? The manual says no service required, is that true?

    • @ATEMOFFROAD
      @ATEMOFFROAD  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Texan Dude 💥 nice , thanks for watching, the stock driveshafts are well built with sealed spicer u-joints, unfortunately they do fail, and your shaft should be rebuilt or replaced after a certain amount of wear or mileage. It’s possible to grease a sealed joint with a needle type grease applicator! But not very ideal! On that note, replacement U joints do come in serviceable and non serviceable options either way I think you get the point of the video was get under your Jeep and check out what you have and decide weather to go serviceable or non serviceable is really up to you, I personally go with a serviceable joint. a good way to test your ujoints for premature failure is to use a temp gun, if they heat up into the 200f under normal conditions, I’d consider replacing that unjoint as soon as possible, hope this help!

    I don't like wd40 for lubrication. NOT that I don't use it. As I use it after fording & washing the jeep. Helps get the water away from the areas before lubrication. Which is what it was developed for. ( Water Displacement = W. D. )
    THEN , I follow up with a lithium grease spray. Then a sticky red for the zerks.
    I could be way off. But it works for me.

    Just followed your video to do my grease fittings. Thanks a lot! But the boots on my front-end grease fitting boots all had tiny holes in them that squirted out the grease after the first or second pump. Are those excess release holes or unwanted holes in my boots?? I didn't see any snake out of your boots.

      @ATEMOFFROAD  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      namunyoska2 pow 💥 nice , thanks for watching, only thing I can think of , those holes maybe from a shop or previous owner that used a needle type grease applicator. Not totally sure. As long as the old stuff came out and the new is in , should be ok!

      @@oneofakind1655 if you have coiled suspension make sure you have the coil bucket isolators intact and they aren’t worn out that can cause noise. Also might want to check your ball joints, control arm bushings, shift linkages, and exhaust hangers.

  • @felishiadarling
    @felishiadarling 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Do not grease until it comes out the boot. This is a tear made damaging the boot. Also water and dirt will get inside. Stop greasing before it’s over full and rips.
