  • This is a clip of the internet only based pre recorded traffic announcement audio service for the "national level" of Scotland called "Traffic Scotland Radio". This is NOT available on the AM/FM radio but from the "Traffic Scotland Radio" website. The service was launched and is operated and updated by Transport Scotland. The service covers, live traffic events, congestion, collisions, construction updates and alerts related to severe weather. It also is a platform that carries public service and traffic safety messages and alerts for driving in poor weather conditions.
This service is the most similar thing that I can find to the current Lake County PASSAGE "Highway Travel Advisory Audio" service. "Radio Traffic Scotland" consists of a national pre recorded mini podcast of national traffic news and there are also 8 podcasts local to certain regions that function in the same manner. Regional podcasts include Highlands and Islands, Grampian, Tayside & Fife, Forthe Valley & Lanarkshire, Edinburgh & Lothians, Glasgow & Renfrew, Argyll & Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway & Borders. It seems these podcasts are intended to be played via in vehicle Bluetooth devices while on the go much like how Lake County PASSAGE has it set up. The difference is the PASSAGE mini podcast is in the infamous computerized voice we all know from 1620 AM while "Traffic Scotland Radio" podcasts are pre recorded voice announcements (and like PASSAGE have looping capabilities).
The question is if this is where HAR is headed in the future (if not on the AM/FM band) on the global level or is this something that is just randomly being tested out in a few places like in Scotland and Lake County IL, USA?
