The Nika transformation is equal parts goofy and nightmarish. Fighting against Luffy like that would be hell. 90% of the time you can't even tell if you are having any effect on him with your attacks. All the time he is laughing and goofing off then suddenly he turns into a giant and pops his massive head through the floor and tries to eat you. Tell me that isn't the stuff from nightmares.
Feel like the animation gets it across way better the nature of his power and why it is so disruptive and yeah his laughing has a lot of menace and would be terrifying. People forget Nika is a War God.

Egghead is where I got back into watching the anime consistently, normally I just read the manga but this the animation is too good. I've seen some people say they really felt Luffy was emperor level from some of the later fights, but overall yeah, Luffy is now an a Yonku through and through.

what is more terrifying is that even with armament haki you cant really damage luffy body in g5. he can reduce the impact with his rubber body. yes, luffy still feel the pain but his body cant be damaged unless with sharp weapon
I can’t be the only one who feel this entire fight was executed PERFECTLY showcasing both Luffy AND lucci progression, Luffy is a emperor now who’s extremely OP but lucci also improved himself, and although Luffy was clearly toying with him throughout this fight, lucci still took some pretty decent hits and were able to recover from it, it honestly surprises me, it wasn’t a complete slaughter, you can tell the animators wanted this fight to be interesting and nostalgic for us fans regardless of the power gap here. Love it

I just realized, they most likely don't have cartoons in the One Piece world, they have no conception of "toon physics". Gear 5 would just be complete randomness, things happening for no reason. To us it's like "Yeah, bicycling your legs really fast will make you take off faster and bunch up the ground like a carpet. And careful not to spin around too quickly or you'll drill through the ground. No duh." Even if it were to somhow happen in reality, people would freak out, of course. But then they'd just go "Whoa, he's behaving like a looney tunes character, but it's working. OK, we know what to expect from this guy, watch out for anvils". For them it's some kind of eldritch horror that follows nonsensical, unpredictable rules
Kaido mentions in his fight with Gear 5 Luffy that "this is like a damn comic strip" and it's been established there's Germa 99 comics issued as marine propaganda, so the One Piece world probably does have reference for toon physics or the like, but they don't have cartoons.

Honestly love how much detail the animators put into Lucci's facial expressions, during the impact frames. It just oozes with manic energy which makes sense and he awakened his zoan, well managing not to lose his mind.
What i love about this, is that even in the small moments, you can see when lucci lands a hit, it doesn’t phase luffy all that much his face after taking a counter before being blow away is proof, he didn’t even react, he just winked and smiled and then when he flew into the air that was when he yelled
In the manga lucci didn't even land a hit, they padded the fight but at least they still showed how much luffy outclassed him to the point where his attacks didn't even damage luffy nor affect him in the slightest.
We find luffy funny, but this fights makes me realize how scary luffy is to others, his red eyes and carefree attitude is nothing short of scary. Imagine being a god like being ie logia or admirals etc and than someone comes up to laughing, and beats the shit out of you all while laughing and dancing but has red eyes and to you he sometimes looks like a devil with a devil smile. Look at the scene in the beginning of the fight where luffy runs towards lucci and you see what lucci sees, he sees something opposite of what we see. I like that, what about you guys?
I might be wrong, but the only problem there is, is that I’m pretty sure the Straw Hat doesn’t get bigger when Luffy goes giant. In manga panels I’ve seen, the straw hat stays small while Luffy is giant

Nikas personality is all fun and games and it does overpower luffys sometimes. If you notice in the Kaido fight, as soon as luffy gets control of his personality in G5 , stops goofing around, and gets serious - he defeats Kaido in 1 punch lol.
Power scaling in one piece is beautiful and perfectly paced. I remember when luffy was just a weak kid and now look at the absolute monster he has finally become.
This animation is god-tier, I think the animators have gone insane since all of the previous criticism of the animation in prior seasons, I don’t hear any complaints anymore. Because it only continues to get better.
So much is missing here. Luffys opening punch and Dawn Whip were some of my most favorite parts of the fight. The opening hit isn’t even here at all and the Whip is missing the shot of Luffys head spinning and showing off silly faces before the kick lands and the odd toe wiggle he pulls right when the kick lands. The animators go hard when it comes to Gear 5 and its little touches like that we shouldn’t just ignore. Respect the animators and try to show their work instead of cutting out chunks to try and fool TH-cams copyright system.
I love the irony of Lucci (the form/aura of an apex predator) being eventually positioned as the prey while Luffy is now framed as the giant predator trying to lock in on said prey.

i like how the entire dynamic of one piece has changed in some ways, luffy will still fight against rewally strong opponents, but the series is finally treating him like a yonko final boss especially when his head pops out of the grown and he starts to that deeep "hahahahaha" like as goofy as that is, its also rather scary
Honestly love how much detail the animators put into Lucci's facial expressions, during the impact frames. It just oozes with manic energy which makes sense and he awakened his zoan, well managing not to lose his mind.

What i love about this, is that even in the small moments, you can see when lucci lands a hit, it doesn’t phase luffy all that much his face after taking a counter before being blow away is proof, he didn’t even react, he just winked and smiled and then when he flew into the air that was when he yelled
In the manga lucci didn't even land a hit, they padded the fight but at least they still showed how much luffy outclassed him to the point where his attacks didn't even damage luffy nor affect him in the slightest.
We find luffy funny, but this fights makes me realize how scary luffy is to others, his red eyes and carefree attitude is nothing short of scary. Imagine being a god like being ie logia or admirals etc and than someone comes up to laughing, and beats the shit out of you all while laughing and dancing but has red eyes and to you he sometimes looks like a devil with a devil smile. Look at the scene in the beginning of the fight where luffy runs towards lucci and you see what lucci sees, he sees something opposite of what we see. I like that, what about you guys?
I might be wrong, but the only problem there is, is that I’m pretty sure the Straw Hat doesn’t get bigger when Luffy goes giant. In manga panels I’ve seen, the straw hat stays small while Luffy is giant

Its obvious Luffy cant control Nika very well because he cant stay serious in that form. He wont hurt his friends, but that non serious demeanor will get his friends hurt by someone else. Nikas personality is all fun and games and it does overpower luffys sometimes.
If you notice in the Kaido fight, as soon as luffy gets control of his personality in G5 , stops goofing around, and gets serious - he defeats Kaido in 1 punch lol.

So much is missing here. Luffys opening punch and Dawn Whip were some of my most favorite parts of the fight. The opening hit isn’t even here at all and the Whip is missing the shot of Luffys head spinning and showing off silly faces before the kick lands and the odd toe wiggle he pulls right when the kick lands.
The animators go hard when it comes to Gear 5 and its little touches like that we shouldn’t just ignore. Respect the animators and try to show their work instead of cutting out chunks to try and fool TH-cams copyright system.
