When I was young in Bulacan, we had pile of old ginikan (straws left after harvesting the rice). After the straws had been rained a month or two, you can throw some salt over and straw mushrooms will grow like crazy. Sobra sarap straw mushroom ginisa sa saluyot. Yummy, yummy! I would like to see my birth place again but because of pandemic I decided not to return. Hopefully, nandoon pa mga palayan , thousands of hectares, used to own by my Father's family but was land reformed in the 1980's. Now the tenants have their OWN land to till. Good for them.
