Today’s the 20th anniversary of 2002’s *Spiderman* and this final fight between Spiderman and Green Goblin is still the most brutal fight yet terrifying fight 20 years later! Happy anniversary and thank you, Tobey Maguire and Willem Dafoe, for giving us an amazing movie that magically brought the characters to life from the comics! 🙌🥳🕷🎃💯
@Angelcruz123 To be fair the train fight isn't really the final fight for Spider-Man 2. Spider-Man 2 has the best ending but the final fight is more of a talk between Peter and Otto. The train fight is easily the best fight in the series with probably the 2 v 2 fight from Spider-Man 3 being close to that.
Comparing this scene to Holland Spidey vs. Goblin is night and day. In that fight, the hits just felt so normal to me as if the idea that they're extra powerful is only told to us. Here, it's shown. Every action sends the other one flying in a comic book fashion but yet not in a way that breaks the rules of what we've seen so far
@@Jack-bn3it It does but we don't see the impact on the characters very well. At a certain point, Holland is just slamming William Dafoe as hard as he can and he starts laughing which is great to show how terrifying he is but it looked and felt really fake
1:57 I absolutely love the score during this moment, Danny Elfman without a doubt is a phenomenal composer and so genuinely hyped for his work on Multiverse of Madness! 🌀✨
This battle was so brutal, I literally felt every blow that Spider-Man received from the Green Goblin. It was even unexpectedly brutal for a Spider-Man movie, and when I watched it in adulthood, I was surprised that such a fight takes place in the film. It's even more brutal than Spidey's battle with the Goblin in No Way Home ! And honestly, it's cool. A modern Marvel movie lacks similar scenes.
He definitely has more strength than most of them. He held onto a cable car full of people by the wires with one hand whereas Cap struggled to keep a helicopter from leaving the landing pad
im surprised no one has mentioned the sound effect put in when he is tearing it down. sounds like a squeaky gate opening. never made sense to use that sound
Us audience can feel the pain of Spider-Man getting beaten up by The Green Goblin! Tobey Maguire's performance on Spider-Man brutally being in pain nailed it as well as Willem Dafoe as the Green Goblin is just God tear and still has it in him 20 years later!
Both were inexperienced. However, Tobey got the upper hand after he took the wall to Goblin. Holland didn’t know what to do against Norman he was suprised.
Come on Sony, I don’t care if it’s a new film, an animated project or a streaming mini series, please give us more of the Raimi Spider-Man universe on screen!
I love how both Goblin fights in Spider-Man 1 and now in Spider-Man No Way Home have no background music during the major action to let you take in the true suspense of the scene
the dialogue here is exceptional. it's one of the things that make the Raimi films still so relevant, you just don't get dialogue as sharp (and in this case with GG, sinister) as this with the MCU films now. GG's dialogue was decent enough in No Way Home, but it still felt a bit formulaic
Tobey fought him. Tom fought him. I really wanted to see an interaction between him and Andrew. I was hoping that in NWH, Andrew saw him fly around in his glider and it triggered some painful memories - enough so that Andrew went and tried to finish the job.
Best comic book movie villain of all time. Can't be the greatest due to Ledger's Joker being more iconic. Dafoe's goblin even did what Ledger's joker couldn't, and actually break the hero. CBR goes in depth on this. The fact that Dafoe took nearly 20 years off from playing Green Goblin and somehow made this villainous character even better and more sinister in his most recent appearance is insane and definitely one of the greatest acting feats ever. After recently binging the whole Raimi trilogy then re-watching no way home I think Dafoe's Green Goblin is slightly superior to Ledger's joker.
Let’s just appreciate the atmosphere of this scene, it just gives you the sense that only one of them is walking out alive
