- Akuma no Ko, from Attack on Titan, music by Ai Higuchi, piano arranged by @Animenzzz, played by Richard Yang on Yamaha N1X with Garritan CFX VST.
Suffice to say, Attack on Titan offers the best anime music! Looking back on my AoT releases, Ashes on the Fire, Call of Silence, YouSeeBIGGIRL, Bauklötze, Vogel im Kafig, these are all touch notch compositions, and of course we got the definitive arrangements by Animenz. At least among these, Akuma no Ko should be the easiest one that can serve as a good starter piece. Although it's not hard to learn, it will take some practice to allow for a successful execution since there are a few very tricky jumps. My goal is to eventually finish learning the remaining AoT arrangements by Animenz.
Piano Lesson video will be released on 2/22:
As with all of my performances, I have my own interpretation, so the tempo, dynamics, etc may feel quite different from the original recording. Simply put, I play the way I like it.

I took your advice and started practicing this piece. It’s pretty nice i’m already about 1/3 of the way through. Good work on this video.
This is definitely doable. Piano lesson coming Thursday. Hopefully can help. This piece is just about notes. So not too bad.
I've moved on from the shorts now and I'm glad I did. Amazing cover. I see your goal is to complete Animenz AoT covers, however there is a song that's beautiful which he has yet to cover, as to my knowledge. It's the first ending for the second season 'Shock'. The version I have tried to learn and listen to is done by Anime Pro - Anime on Piano. In the description of the video there is a link to the sheets to download them for free. It would be super dope to hear you do a cover on that at somepoint in time. Meanwhile I'll be listening to the rest of your assumingly incredible covers.
Make sure to visit my Animenz playlist eh. Lots of good stuff there. My personal favorite AoT cover is Call of Silence.
Perfect.
Great performance as always
incredible work, this is beautiful

my man never disappoint
Is it just me, or female pianists usually get 100x more comments. I don’t think I’ll ever resort to cosplay, haha. I don’t bite, people.
you should try synthesia style, they get views
@@l3arner My piano lessons videos for these Animenz pieces come with top-down views. I have no idea nor creativity for any pretty art work and graphics. That sucks.
I prefer your channel over the girls channel and even Animenz one… idk why, maybe the way you play and the camera angle
Just keep going Richard, your channel is awesome 🫶
@@RichardYangPianoAlso, you don’t need any creativity for Synthesia videos, there are some applications like Embers that are really great. You should take a look at it!
@@ydndl Thanks eh. I think the spirit of this channel is that if it’s possible for an average Joe with T-shirt and no socks to play difficult stuff, this should give hope to people that this can be done at home.

Wow ! Amazing ! Ive discovered your channel yesterday and I think you deserve many more subscribers and views for your remarkable works! In any case, thank you for sharing our common passions for the piano and animated music and well done again!!! 👏👏
PS : Im also a pianist during 10 years and I cannot playing Animenz’s version (maybe one day) 💪👌
I’ve been discovered at last! I’m sure you’ve taken a trip to my playlist section. Animenz obviously is hot. If you’re into NieR/FF/KH, I got them all, complete. Cheers.
when u need to switch Page during performance alone Always get me anxious lol
When “I”, or when “you”, or when “one”? Just gotta “preload” the last measure.
A great performance as usual. One of my favorite things about this song is how it has many soft and loud parts that change suddenly. The part at 1:35 is one of my favorites. I’m going to look up other performance and see if other pianists can do that as well as you. My guess would be some don’t.
There are actually quite a few pretty good recordings out there. So we know this is a much easier piece than most. By now I have quite a few very difficult ones that not many can do. I think especially on my FFXV stuff, Omnis Lacrima and especially Veiled in Black. These are actually quite a bit more difficult than the regular Animenz stuff.
Since I saw I’m the description that you were going to play all of animenz’s other aot arrangements, may I suggest ‘The Reluctant Heroes’ or Shinzou wo Sasageyo? I think they’re both amazing tracks and that reluctant heroes is quite underrated
Will get to these eventually. So many great pieces to learn.
great playing (idk how u do those page turns while playing lol). What AoT arrangement do u think youll go for next?
My War maybe, quite a few before that tho. Next release is Everyday World. Cruel Angel might make sometime March. Haven’t decided yet.
@@RichardYangPiano How about SPECIALZ?
@@Caption_1 never heard of it. Doesn’t appear to be Animenz, and in any case it’s not famous enough evidently.
@@Caption_1 just realized this IS Animenz. Listening to it for the first time now. Will do.
You should play SPECIALZ next. Good job by the way I love this song.
Only Animenz stuff for the foreseeable future.
Just realized this is Animenz. Listening for the first time right now. Will do.
just discovered your channel! This is one of the best Animenz covers of this song I’ve seen; the colours and emotion are done so nicely on top of the good technique. Really enjoyed listening to it! (I hope you’re joking about being an ‘amateur’ pianist, you seem quite experienced!)
If you’re into Animenz stuff, don’t forget to check out my Animenz playlist. 25 and counting. This is pretty much my focus now. Previously used to do NieR/FF/KH, but ran out of things to record. So ended up here. Cheers.
I own yamaha n1 and it is the most awesome electric piano I have tried. Mechanical feel on keyboard, the sound is closest to an acoustic piano, luxury looking. I also own roland lx 506 and I think its sound is horrible because it is not real when compare to yamaha, a little bit electric sound. My advice is if you want to buy an electric piano, straight forward Yamaha piano you can't go wrong with it.( I buy secondhand yamaha n1 at about 2k3 usd and roland lx 506 at 1k5 usd).
The sound you hear is Garritan CFX VST. The stock sound is garbage by comparison. The action is way too heavy to be honest, which is good for voicing control, but very demanding on your stamina. But ultimately, other than the Kawai NV10S, this is supposed to be one of the better “digital” pianos. So this will have to do. Highly recommend you listen to the link below so you can appreciate the gorgeous sound from Garritan CFX.

Hi, great playing! Is the recording direct digital? How do you think the sound is from the VST through the pianos speakers? Is it still muffled like the internal sounds of the N1x?
This is as gorgeous as it gets. It’s directly recorded to midi via piano. Converter to wav via Garritan CFX. Nothing goes through the speaker.
@@RichardYangPianoOk that’s great for the recording quality but how does it sound while you play? Is the sound from separate speakers or from the piano speakers? I notice you don’t wear headphones in the video.
@@kimzim2001 For live feedback I use PianoTeq. Sound is not as good as Garritan CFX but much better than stock sound. Muffled speaker is still the case, but acceptable.
@@RichardYangPianoThank you for your answer. 🙂🎹
Excellent choice! Amazing song. What are your thoughts on Animenz’s pair of Spy Family arrangements? A fan?
They’re all good. But I think for 2024 I’m just gonna clean up current WIP stuff. I’ve accumulated too many work in progress pieces. I’m gonna first get these to the finish line. With work being crazy right now it’s hard to find time for new stuff.
@@RichardYangPiano yeah you have quite the list. Good luck! Look forward to hear them.
just a small question as to why you use the digital piano rather than the grand you have on the left?
For the best possible sound. Garritan CFX VST really provides a concert hall experience. If you look at my older videos recorded on the grand, sound was horrible with no dynamics to speak of: th-cam.com/video/1netdCSnjVc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=OO1dPcXkvBI352Q8
@@RichardYangPianoI see the difference now! What settings do you use on garritan, just wondering since I recently got the piano vst too
