    I've always loved three-nacelled designs, but had no idea about this ship! It is just ridiculous enough that I love it!

    I think that's a great idea showing the ships that fought at Wolf 359

    For years I've seen this kitbash/variant of the Ambassador Class and I never really liked it much... However, after seeing it here in 3D, I think I'm warming up to it.

    I would question the placement of phaser strips directly below the warp nacelles. Yeah, they could always program the phasers not to fire right into the nacelles. But, there's a serious waste of phaser strip just taking up space.

      I noticed that too. Could cause you to have a very bad day.

    This is so much better than the XL A.
    Love this, as I do all the Wolf 359 ships. :)

      Those phaser strips under the Bassard collectors are a great idea !!.

    I didn't think much of this design on screen or paper, but once I got this model, I really warmed to it. She looks good at many angles, and I would have liked to see this as an actual ship on screen (rather than just wreckage).

    I like how the bussard collectors are directly above the Phaser strips haha! Slight overlook there.

      I was just about to mention that. I also noticed that the bottom nacelle is rather close to the escape pod hatches at the bottom of the ship. Imagine frantically abandoning ship only to smack right into the nacelles!

      The thing that I find odd, is how close those phaser strips are to those top bussard collectors.( careful not to shoot off the bussards.)

    Not sure I care to have the phaser arrays so close to the edge of the saucer, but I love the profile of this, and can't wait to pick this one up.

    I wish we would have seen the Wolf 359 ships in the Dominion War.

    • @girlgarde
      @girlgarde 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The classes of starships represented at Wolf 359 likely DID fight in the Dominion War but by then, newer classes of starships probably largely replaced the older classes as Wolf 359 exposed how the Federation needed to upgrade its military forces to handle foes that weren't the local bunch in their part of the galaxy.

    • @CelticCubby
      @CelticCubby 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ryan I imagine newer ships would start taking over but I think it would have been nice to see the TNG erra ships instead of all the Miranda and Excelsior class ships. I know it's because they had models, both physical and later digital, for these and it was a means of keeping production costs down.

    i loved this ship was really looking forward to it loved how because of this ships 3rd nacelle could still hold speed warp 8 unlike most could only hold speed of warp 6 but still has good reason why not common thing for star fleet ships to have. the one thing i noticed about this ship the position of the phaser strips at the rear of the saucer section in wrong position blocked bye the nacelles.

  • @marleymcleay9228

    Great place to store saucer phaser strips, right under the bussard collectors. Klingons on the starboard bow wont stand a chance!
    nice model

    Without the 3rd nacelle it looks good enough to be an Enterprise!

    • @girlgarde
      @girlgarde 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's likely that Starfleet considered making a Niagara class starship an Enterprise but then decided that they needed Enterprise to be a larger class of starship to better honour the name Enterprise and so a Galaxy class starship got the name instead.

  • @saijex
    @saijex 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I'm really curious about this one! Without the 3rd nacelle it looks like it could have been a contemporary of the Ambassador, like an alternate to it. Registry is too high, but it makes me think of the fan Rigel class I've seen.

    • @chrissonofpear1384
      @chrissonofpear1384 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Largely because the original description given for the Rigel-class was likely mean't to be of THIS ship model, in the 90s.

  • @Forklift_Fella
    @Forklift_Fella 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've never been a fan of ships with odd numbers of nacelles. It just doesn't make any sense to me. I will say however that this ship has a great design. If you are going to have a ship with three nacelles THIS is the way to do it! Very cool looking.

  • @Epiphany76

    I like it but Gene Roddenberry would disapprove "warp nacelles must be in pairs".

    • @NashmanNash
      @NashmanNash 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well..he also said that there will be no conflict aboard Starfleet vessels in the 24th century.Nice idea,horrible for writing a tv show :D
      But the "even numbered nacelle " thing could be explained away if the actually meant an even number of Warp Coils.Constitution Nacelles for example had only 1 set,Galaxy Nacelles 2 sets of Coils per nacelle,making the number even^^

  • @Palmerrip
    @Palmerrip 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    For those who question the number of warp engines think of it like this: look to airplanes and the engines they have on them. Many, if not most, commercial airplanes have two engines just look at Beoing's 757, 767, 777, etc... Three engines MD-10, 11, etc. Four engines like the 747 or the A380... Take it further and have EIGHT engines like with B52 or the Antonov... but ask, WHY do I need eight warp engines on a starhip?

  • @earlshort1
    @earlshort1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I noticed the saucer section and neck are misaligned. This seems to be a common problem. I’ve received several “Enterprise” models with this problem. I’ve contacted Eaglemoss and they acted as if they don’t care.

    The length here is MUCH bigger than listed on Ex Astris Scientia website (measured to the nacelles?) that was more 480 metres.

  • @nightwingnum1226
    @nightwingnum1226 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    So it was kit bashed between a Galaxy class with Engines and the secondary Hull and Saucer of a Ambassador.

  • @NihilusShadow
    @NihilusShadow 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    That third nacelle is really goofy looking. If they removed it, it would actually look like a nice little ship.

    • @MrSheckstr
      @MrSheckstr 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      NihilusShadow no kidding , drop the third nacelle and you have a third class vessel behind the Galaxy and Nebula that is sort of a transition between the Ambassador era and the Galaxy era. Would rather have seen that than the damn Excelsior in seasons 1&2.
      Further if you want to have extra reserve drive system I would instead have mounted 1/3 sized nacelles off of the same mounting point of the hull but using an invert T mount so that the nacelles are on either side of the secondary but not below

    • @xheralt
      @xheralt 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Take off the 3rd nacelle and you have an _Ambassador_ class; IrishTrekkie should have been comparing it to that, not a _Galaxy_

    • @NihilusShadow
      @NihilusShadow 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eh it would be close, but the only thing it shares is the stardrive section. The saucer, neck, pylons and nacelles are different enough from the Ambassador.

    • @girlgarde
      @girlgarde 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. It looks fine without the third nacelle.

    • @SHADOSTRYKR
      @SHADOSTRYKR 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The three nacelles dont look a goofy if they were two below and one above. I also like how the top two block the phaser banks so better check your target before you fire haha.

    I feel like this ship would look better without the nacelle attached to the bottom of the secondary hull... Reminds me of the New Orleans class, just seems to be added to be different from a standard enterprise design. However a cool ship none the less.

    I actually like this one. I think it would look better if they dropped the 3rd nacelle and spread the other 2 apart a bit. I prefer the nacelles to be above the Saucer section just like the original TOS Enterprise Our slung underneath like the Reliant. This is one of the few TNG era ships That actually looks quite well balanced. My opinion Voyager and the Enterprise D Look unbalanced as the rear end of the ships looks far too small compared to the front half.

    Are docks designed for ships with two nacelles able to be used for a ship with three ? It is not clear whether the interiors of docks (which are certainly elegant pieces of engineering) can be adapted to suit different designs of ship, or whether “one size fits all”.
    An advantage with the familiar two-nacelle design is that shots damaging the nacelles are less likely to damage the saucer (and thus, the primary hull) than is the case with this more compact design, which looks more vulnerable than the usual design. A sufficiently powerful bomb could damage both a nacelle and the primary hull, because they are so close together.

    Saucer: Galaxy

    I HATE HATE HATE the Engine Struts. Just hate them. As for the secondary hull combined with galaxy las like saucer section doesnt work for me either. Its like a mad attempt at building this ship with spare parts. I suppose its operates ok but its just damned ugly UGHHH

      I'd rather the 3rd was mounted dorsally, off the back of the primary hull, like the classic dreadnoughts. I prefer to call three-nacelle ships "triremes"; all dreadnoughts are triremes (save for Section 31's _Vengeance_), but not all triremes are dreadnoughts.

    Pathetic copy of the "All Good Things" future Enterprise which the POINT of the third nacelle was the extra 4 warp speeds, hence warp 13.

    • @spacebase1119
      @spacebase1119 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      IMDARKFIRE007 Uuhh, dude. The original model for this ship, including the third engine, were made about 3 and a half years before "Best of Both Worlds". And number of engines don't matter as much in Star Trek in terms of improving speed. Otherwise, why is the Enterprise D considered superior to say, the 4 engined Constellation class ship "Stargazer", Picard's own preceding command? And that ship appeared 7 years before AGT. Why didn't Voyager's crew just jury-rig like 10 engines onto the ship, instead of constantly looking for shortcuts like Wormholes, Slipstream and Transwarp to get home?

  • @jeffhallam2004

    Theres no sense in more than 2 nacelles.

    • @steffenronsch8881
      @steffenronsch8881 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is otherwise ships with more nacelles wouldn't exist.
      Most likely with more nacelles they can Switch between the nacelles. This prevents overheating for example for long Range ships.
