Always enjoy seeing logging and the trucks from other countries. I live in western Canada and used to be a welder and build logging trucks. It's different here bcoz we also use really long logs where it looks like you guys only use short or medium logs.
Some are cut to order for export, other good logs are random for sawmills and the smaller stuff may be random for chipping for Paper / Cardboard Mills.
We do cart longs aswell. Not much here in southern part of NZ but definitely in the north island part. If you can see at 13:50 that blue volvo truck only has a single packet on his trailer instead of the usual two. That truck is specifically designed to cart longs, so the truck and trailer combo converts to a semi truck kinda looking.
Now those are some powerful logging machines down there! Lots of great trucks and scenery. Merry Christmas to you and your family and friends, and I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas in New Zealand! Greetings from the United States!
NZ vs western Canada . NZ runs tandem steer ,tandem drive and 5 axle trailers. Canada single steer, tri-drive and 4 axle trailers. Canada can run up to 63,500 kg and don't know what NZ has for weights. Curious as to what axle weight NZ can run.
I was once in New Zealand, North and South Island, and was shocked by the large industrial forests. Tourism advertising always talks about New Zealand's great nature, but unfortunately the reality is different, three quarters of the original rainforest has already been cut down. I've also come across a few logging trucks like this, you have to be very careful, they certainly don't slow down.
Those original forests got cut down 100+ years ago with early European settlers and 500+ years ago with Māori arrival, all native forests are protected now. Plantation forests are sustainably managed and regulated.
@@thfmlymn4498 If you describe the industrial forests in New Zealand as sustainable, you also have to describe the soya fields in Brazil or the oil palm plantations in Indonesia as sustainable. Everywhere the original primeval forest has been cleared for this purpose. There is also almost nothing left of the original plants and animals in the industrial forests. In addition, almost all the rivers in the lowlands of New Zealand are so heavily polluted that it is not recommended to swim in them. There are some very beautiful, little-touched primeval forests in New Zealand, but these are only very small areas. But what works really well in New Zealand is tourism promotion.
Love these trucks man!! Especialy the kenworth cab-overs...and when the portable trailers when they are being transported makes the trucks look even cooler..😊. just wondering.. How heavy is a typical full load of the 3 mini trailers?..
Better check the areas still in Native bush mate. Just as much erosion as plantation areas. When the water comes up from under the ground it doesn`t matter what`s growing on top. Look up mid slope failures, get properly informed sonny,,,,
Amazing productivity within the mechanical harvesting today, and especially the trucking industry around our greatest little nation, of course it's mostly down too the hugely dedication of the owner's and contractors and workers. 😊😊😊😊.possibly the most efficient around.
New zealand winter are opposite to America. Its dry here in summer. And winters it rains here alot. Only few places in south island get snow. Which is moderate to low
Very sought after jobs. The immigration requirements are formidable and the licensing takes a couple of years of upgrades from a basic truck license. Same in Australia. Most contractors are owner operators and you would need $500k to invest.
What is the ultimate destination of all this wood?. Buildings, furniture, fire wood fuel, toothpicks, matches or what ?. Must be big profit somewhere. The upside is regular work and wages for men and women prepared to work.
Yeah… there’s a lot profit for the private sector, to be sure. IDK… the trucks are cool, of course, but it just seems wrong to be stripping the hills and land as the industry does. There’s got to be a better way.
Is this vast destruction of forests contributing to the present change in the world's weather patterns. Global warming etc?. Or is it all politicians rubbish. At 82 years of age it will not really affect me much more, perhaps generations to follow though.
Actually the forestry regrow in 30 year cycles, henceforth they are actually helping me environments, once tree's get to old they fall over and rot and release the same as normal. These are the most efficient forestry and milling systems in the world, it's actually the rest of the world don't replant.
It’s 1 of the few places on earth where EU and US trucks work next to each other 👍🏼👍🏼
AU and NZ are cool for that
@@JoabeDutrayeah they have some of the coolest trucks in au and nz after America of course
Chile, Columbia..... also EU and US trucks.
The EU trucks are nicer to drive than the US ones by far
Trucking out there looks like fun.
