That is a clean example. I have a 2011 with 10200 miles but it has a dented tank and other scuffed parts from a succession of first time riders who owned it before me. But hey that's O.K. because the motorcycle is in perfect running order, and I'm a 54 yr old first time rider (7 weeks now) and it is just perfect for my 6 mile city commute and weekend pleasure cruises.

Awesome bike brother!! those little 250's are totally keepers, nothing like a small displacement v twin, so
    fun!

Thanks for the comment. Yeh I still own it after 2.5 years. Keeping a Moto for more than 2 years is a big deal for me. I like it and ride three or four times a week. 75mpg is average. I still shop for others but like you said this one’s a keeper.

Yes, I bought a 2002 black Virago 250 in 2014 so I could ride it up into the mountains around my home in Pocatello, Idaho as an alternative when not riding my bicycle. I bought it off of a college student for $1100. My insurance costs about $50 a year. Mine has a windshield on it too.
It had 5700 miles on it when I bought it. It now has over 19,000 on it. I've gone through 3 sets of tires, new front fork seals, new chain, new clutch cable, a new set of front break pads, and two batteries since I bought it; and that's it. I love it.
Sometimes I do wish it was a 535 Virago, but what the heck, it's in great shape and it's easier to get parts for it. I have had mine up to about 70mph with a tail wind. I am 68 and am about 5'6' to 5'7" or so, with a 29' inseam. I weigh about 128 lbs. It's perfect for me. It's light enough for me to be able to pick it up by the handlebars if I drop it. No flagging down help for me.
I have been thinking about putting on a 17 tooth front sprocket in place of the 16 tooth sprocket it now has to boost its top speed a bit, but so far I have not done that.
I ride it mostly to the numerous trailheads around the mountains around here to go for hikes and occasionally for joy rides. And since it gets such great gas mileage, I feel I am helping the earth by not driving my car to go for a hike or to just enjoy the scenery around here. And it's a lot more fun to ride than my car is.

I am in Canada I got a brand new 2022 model a month ago. It looks beautiful and it sounds fantastic. Very comfortable to ride (cannot find any lower seat bike for me 5'5 160lb), and has excellent mileage on gas. There is a reason why YAMAHA is still making it after 35 years - it is a miracle! 😄

Good for you! I have owned many motorcycles. At this time in my life I am just looking for local travel, comfort, fuel economy, and low upkeep. This little guy does it all. And yes, Yamaha hit one out of the park with this model. I ran it out of gas last week on purpose. 166 miles on a tank. Thats close to 80mpg! I'm currently paying $4.00 US. So, $8.00 to travel more than 150 miles! Yeh, I'm happy with this little cruiser.

I enjoyed your review. In Brazil, many motorcycles loves this custom bike. It's cheaper and gasoline economic tank help us. And I heard about many people in USA still drive the VIRAGO 250.

Yes I am very happy with this Moto. Still ride it regularly. Been 2 years since I did this video. It's a keeper. Comfortable seat feet and bars, fast enough to keep up with traffic, great fuel economy, and worry free reliability.

One of my Favorite Yamaha Colors! I picked up a 2013 V Star 250 with 2600 miles on it. One owner!! It's for my17-year-old son, but I've been riding it!! I like those handle bars better!

Good choice Reddstripe! I hope he enjoys it. Ride safe! I rode mine today for 30 miles. Great little motorcycle. Small enough to be nimble. But fast enough, and comfortable. I'm getting 70-75 mpg consistently. And of course the Yamaha 250 engine is bullet proof.

No audio. I have a 2010 V-Star 250. I am 6' 240 and fit on it just fine. I only use it for local riding. Due to it's tube type tires, which are much easier to puncture than a tubeless tire, and require a tow truck when you have a flat, I stay within the towing range of my road service plan. If not for that, it would make a great small touring bike. Yamaha completely ruined the V-Star 250 in 2012, when they replaced the cruiser handlebars with drag bars.
