Cooproxx hey some people may not have as much skill and may not have played as much as you have, so it’s perfectly okay for someone to spend more time on it than others
@@JacksonRiddle90 he wasn’t implying any of that at all, and there is no need for this comment at all. Whatever though, its not like its in my control.
Sonny Stitt was also like that. He could play a world every five seconds and could keep pulling out monster licks that are monuments on their own. Great player.
Charlie would also pull a sneaky on ya, he has two or three killer licks that he’ll put in almost anything, once you know those you can play like a God. That’s not to say the man didn’t shred cause good lord them bad Bois could play
You can count the people who can play it at 116 cleanly & error-free. You took it several notches above that mark. Great Demonstration & thank you for teaching me what it takes to play at that level. Few would've taken the time to do what you did & I've viewed the content of many of these instructional type videos. The most effective way to get the most out of the 'shed is by doing it the way you demonstrated: SLOW PRACTICE. You have to understand what connects the parts to make the whole, which takes the rest of your life. Great work Saxologic.
I think my favorite part was just watching how calm you stayed when you got frustrated I mean dang I'm like Bruce Banner over here Also that technique haircut clean 😤
Baptiste Herbin is just amazing, I got the chance of a masterclass with him. Not only his technique, but the ways he make his instrument sound, is just mind blowing!!! Thanks man for sharing, I really like your sound.
Saxologic well he actually shared what he practiced for improving his sound, like playing a chromatic scale with only the mouthpiece and the neck of the saxophone, his “subtone” on the low register trying to mimic tenor players. Also he said that he doesn’t like to use hard gear, or really open mouthpieces , cause he believes that sound is something in your head (of course the gear helps in someway ), but he insist that sound starts from your head., so he prefers to feel comfortable with the mouthpiece and reed and not fighting against that. If you want, I can send you the recording of the lesson, it is sadly only audio, and also I think I recorded part of a concert he made that time. You tell me if you wanted and how I candy share it with you. Keep with the videos, I really enjoy seeing you explaining about vocabulary and mostly bebop. Greetings man.
I love this video. Really helpful to see what you do to practice such a difficult line. Need more videos like this because of how it gives us an insight into what techniques you do. Thankyou

I think that what you're doing in this channel is great! Amazing examples of how to practice efficiently. I'm applying all of this knowledge on my instrument. Thank you very much
holy shit dude. watching this gave me crazy inspiration. it's suuuper defeating to practice à tempo, especially with an example of someone doing it so easily. this reminded me to give myself a break and let myself learn at a pace that isn't 170 (or whatever i'm trying to learn.) thank you for this video!
Why do some sax players play with their mouthpiece in the side of their mouth instead of the middle? I just noticed him doing it and I know Chad LB does it too. Is there any benefit or is it just preference?
What a great video, bro! You're such an inspiration man! Love how you emphasise the importance of slow practice and how practicing too fast before you're prepared could reinforce bad habits. Really grateful to you for showing us your process step by step. Thanks man! And haha I felt you when you upped th metronome and for a second just got staggered at how fast it was 😂 So relatable lol
when you transcribe fast/hard stuff like this do you slow it down on TH-cam? Also when there's certain parts that just sound jumbled because of audio quality like on Charlie Parker recordings, what do you do?
Hello! Something that you can do to slow down the video on TH-cam is got to the settings option on the video (on mobile for me it's 3 vertical dots on the right hand corner I think and on pc it's around the bottom right hand corner) and change the playback speed. Another method that can help with the jumbled notes when you're transcribing players like Parker is hearing it slowly and singing it back to yourself before trying to play it.
@@sequoyahcisneros8719 There's some value for new people who are just starting out transcribing stuff (maybe start with something a little easier though lol). Just don't rely or use it as a crutch.
Sequoyah Cisneros would you even say that for beginner improvisers? I’m a sophomore in highschool, still learning the ropes, there’s a mediocre jazz program at my school that doesn’t teach very far past blues scales when it comes to improv so I’ve had to teach a lot of things to myself with channels like this, that being said, almost every time I transcribe something I have to slow it down a bit to sing the notes and hear it, am I still cheating myself out? I feel like it would take hours if I didn’t slow certain things down
@@sequoyahcisneros8719 I can see your point, but I dont necessarily agree with the cheating you statement. To me there seems a lot more benefits and getting inside someone's sound and style that I believe some people wont get if they didn't transcribe slow. In addition when I do transcriptions I find that the more you do it the faster you'll be when it comes to recognizing notes. Plus working on it slow can give you more room to work with, more ideas, and can help copy/develop sound/ style. Though in the end it's personal preference. :)
@@DionteGeorgeMusic I know how to slow stuff down on TH-cam, I do it quite often when transcribing tricky parts, I was just wondering if he personally does it or if he just transcribes is full speed. Also, when I asked about transcribing jumbled notes, I meant in older recordings where due to the lack of technological advancements, its hard to discern note from note. A lot of parker's recordings from the swing era are pretty low quality, and with his blazing fast lines its very hard to get every note right.
