    I feel your frustration Daniel.
    After re-laying my front lawn (scarifying, reseeding, and top dressing) I was so pleased with the results, but I've now realised that I have a neighbour who is happy enough to live with a dandelion farm, and unfortunately I'm having to constantly try to control the dammed thing's. No amount of subtle hints seem to have any effect on him, so it's an ongoing maintenance project for me.
    Not everyone gives a hoot about how thier lawn looks unfortunately.
    Cheers partner, it was your video's that enabled me to achieve what was once the best lawn in the area, but there is no legislating for lazy buggers.
    Best wishes from Northern Ireland 👍

      @theewhaler ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As much as I like a good lawn (obviously why I’m on this channel) just because someone doesn’t mind dandelions in their lawn doesn’t make them a lazy bugger. The reality is that these are actually needed for our eco system

    • @roger4880
      @roger4880 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theewhaler They are lazy buggers no way to sugar coat it but claiming weeds are better for the ecosystem - they are not, they live only a few months whereas grass lives all year long sucking CO2 out of the atmosphere. Which is better? A plant that cools the atmophere and cleans it or some yellow weed that has minimal impact?

      Your neighbour must be a relation of mine, I have the same problem.

    • @therattyfire5468
      @therattyfire5468 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theewhaler I understand what you mean, but this guy is the eception to the rules in as much as he is happy with an overgrown lawn and other species of weeds growing out of the hard ground surrounding his property.
      I have actually serviced his mower and explained how to winterize it, but sadly with zero interest.
      Anyway it's not something that I can't deal with, but as I said previously, frustrating.
      Thanks for the response 👍

    Yes, it’s out of control this year… so annoying when you’ve tried your best for the last couple of years… I’ve watched you for a while now, and you provide brilliant advice, but that meadow grass is determined this year! Thanks for all you do online… it’s been a great help. And I use my best fork too. My husband gets a bit cross, but it does work…..so hey ho!

  • @tonyhodgkinson4586

    I find the best course of action is close mowing on the poa, especially when the weather is dry, they have shallow roots, also use a sharp knife to cut into it at right angles.

    It’s such a simple technique for moving turf properly but still impressive to watch it being done correctly. It’s basically an invisible repair.
    I removed a tree stump on a sloped part of my lawn earlier in April and I’ll have to put up with my amateurish bodging for this season - I’ll consider sorting it again after the summer if it winds me up too much.
    My overseeding is still suffering from poor germination due to the temps - fescue in the mix for that area (shady bit of lawn).
    I’d got that seed mix before I realised Daniel sold seed too…
    Appreciating this mix up of shorter/ longer videos as it means more great vids to watch. I keep telling people (wife included) that there are far more unhealthier things to be obsessed with….
    Thank you.

    Hi Dan - I think the jacks magic has been a contributor too. Can only speak from my experience but my POA was rife last year and I know they changed the product which seemed full of garbage. Early days but Field Compost for Top Dressing this year and I already see a massive difference. So thanks for the tip on that and the discount code too!!

    I live near some fields that are essentially left to grow meadows and I've all but given up at this point. Fresh turf 2 years ago, and I swear its currently more AMG than the original turf 😔 I overseed every autumn, that never grows because we get an early frost or something. I may have to just accept that as long as the lawn is green, it's good enough 😭

  • @paulburt9183
    @paulburt9183 ปีที่แล้ว

    Having inherited a lawn in a very poor state last autumn, I’ve done everything possible through winter and early spring to resurrect it, just getting to the point where it was starting to look decent, I’ve been invaded with meadow grass, it’s sprang up literally everywhere!
    There’s far to much to dig out individually, so I’m now looking at a deep scarify, over seed n top dress, am I wasting my time and money?
    Lawns just over 100m2, I live on a country park surrounded by meadow land, no doubt the wind has brought the seeds in and my feeding and top dressing bare patches etc has made it very welcome.

    Top video Dan. Im reassured now its just not me with a POA problem 😂. Thought i'd got on top of it. But after scarifying overseeding and top dressing with Field compost. Took the fleece of 10 days ago and bang shitloads of it. Proper kick in the nuts add to that the cold weather its looking far from ideal. Hopefully next few weeks should see some improvements 🤞

What type of seed do you use is a fine blade seed better for making a nicer looking lawn than hard wearing lawn.👍👍
