  • Feckless Willie Leyland returns to the family home in London penniless. His father is none too pleased but Willie smooth-talks him into letting him stay. At the same time he turns the charm on Dorothy Hope, whose father is big in linoleum and who, before Willie's arrival, was about to become engaged to a Russian aristocrat.

Ronald Coleman was a great underrated actor

Yes, Ronald Colman (February 9th, 1891 - May 19th, 1958) was a very great actor But he wasn't as underrated as you might think. Because one thing that is common when actors or actresses are well-known is that they' will be posthumously impersonated in cartoons, or even while they are still alive. Such as Walter Matthau who lived to be 79 years and 9
months. When Walter was 47, he was impersonated as a gangster in the cartoon series
Underdog. Ronald was too, as a variety of very intelligent characters, about 7 years after
      he had died,

In no way underrated. And not known for his versatility. He plays his 'character' in every movie, for better or worse. His version of 'A Tale of Two Cities' is a wasted joke compared to, say, Bogarde's excellent version.

I'm not mentioning the number of really great movies he was in, we know that already.

@@FlipDahlenburg The silliest remark I have read on TH-cam this year. Ronald Colman's performance in 'A Tale of Two Cities' far outweighed Dirk Bogarde's, although both were excellent. Colman should have received an Oscar for an absolutely outstanding performance.

Interesting to see my favorite old-time actress, Myrna Loy, in embryo. Like many women (and like fine wine), she really didn't find her looks and her mojo until she was over 30, and she kept it to the end.
    Thanks for posting.

She was hilarious as Fu Manchu's sadistic daughter in 1932's The Mask of Fu Manchu. That was when Hollywood didn't quite know what to do with her.

@@JLee-rt6ve Because of her small stature and feline face, she found herself often cast as the menacing , vaguely Asian woman. (Her studio-chosen stage name didn't hurt, either; she was originally a Williams.) Very un-PC, but those roles paved the way for her glorious performances with William Powell.

Young, Loy, and Coleman. Two beautiful and talented ladies, and Coleman whose voice one can't forget. All three had stellar careers. Florence Britton was right there in the mix. Here they are, all together in a funny, carefree, romcom that's 100% entertainment. Thank you GL

    Lorretta Young, (January 6th, 1913 - August 12th, 2000), in her 26th role of 110,
when she was just 17 years young.

Movie sets were often high-walled. That obviated the need for a ceiling, thus making the set easily assembled/disassembled/re-used. You can see a lot of that in old western movies, where the same three walls may have been used----with changed furnishings-----several times in one day.
