Just got my PowerCab+ and to say I am amazed is an understatement. Line 6 is just KILLING it with the Helix/HX line and now these guys. And this is coming from a STAUNCH previous L6 naysayer! Well done again Line 6.
The power cab is absolutely the best amp solution that I have ever used ! It is fantastic. I sold my fender twin reverb and all my pedals on my pedalboard to use just a helix with the power cab as stage amp. I have all the good sounds, but much better control over everything. I love it ! Thank you Line 6 !
I checked out Line 6 gear back around 2000 and thought “well it’s close, but not near close enough”. Fast forward to 2021 and I dove in and bought a Helix and Powercab 212 Plus. It is truly amazing and I considered myself a tube amp snob prior to this. I absolutely love the sound as well as the intuitive way that both the Helix and Powercab work. Just scratching the surface so far, but can’t wait to develop more tones tonight!
I just did the same thing, helix and 212 powercab plus arriving tomorrow. I disassembled my pedalboard, listed it all on reverb. I have sold $2800 in the last 24 hours. Both of my victory amps are up for sale as well. Two days ago I walked into my garage and asked myself why the fuck do I have all of this high-end shit? I love guitar but....$9500 worth of tone....hope I made the right choice. I think I will be happy.
They key with this 'amp' is to go into the settings for the speaker and increase the volume. You can also bump up the dB for the output on the Helix. This will allow you to play in ANY setting! The powercab is really great and is the perfect partner for the Helix. It is light, durable and performs! I didn't like it when I first got it. It didn't seem to have any power output. The out of the box settings run the speaker IR's at 20% of capacity.
Hey Ryan!! Do you tend to keep the PC on flat response and set up your amp/cab selections on the Helix? Or do you mainly use the custom cab selections in PC and only select an amp on Helix?? Trying to figure out optimal use with both. Sorry for the newbie question....
Everyone is talking about irs..... I've tried Soo many and they all sound fake live. Like a recorded version of an amp. I guess they work better for recording. For me I put the powercab on the cream speaker and build presents with it turned up to gig level and it sounds like an amp and way better than any ir I've tried. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
I bought one of these units immediately, and I love it. In fact I just ordered a second one to have two different speakers and a stereo rig. Love this piece of gear.
@Steve L...how is the stereo setup working for you? Even though my old X-3 Live will likely not unlock the full capabilities of a PC 112 +, I'm wondering how far I can get to achieving that elusive tone with a setup like this... in stereo of course! :)
@@jjharris1385 I split my output signal into two paths (using Line 6 Helix) then run two XLR cables out (one to each Powercab). Each Powercab has a different speaker sim running. Also when splitting the line out signal from the helix I make sure that my Reverb and delay only runs through one of the Powercabs and it turns it into a stereo wet-dry rig.
The StageSource is totally FRFR. The Powercab can do that also, but can also be used just like a regular (but powered) speaker cab that gives the player the feeling of an amp in the room.
Tom, I have both. I purchased this to load up on IR's and have quick easy ability to alter tone for studio live settings. THis also frees up memory for other effects if that is how you play. I was underwelmed out of the box, but when you spend a little time dialing it in it does way more than the Stage source. When you go FOH via helix and use all of your built in cabs Helix IR's with the Helix while using the stage source as a monitor, you wouldn't get any benefit of the PowerCab with the exception of weight. It is a lot lighter.
I have a powercab and 2 L2T speakers. The L2T speakers blow the powercab away for FRFR stuff with IRs. The power an is a good stage monitor tho, also sounds good in speaker emulation mode. But only as a 112 option, which will not sound anything a 412 can IR.
@@ShredRexGuitar good to know. Powercab Plus has more features, will those make up for the difference? I use L2t now. thinking of getting the Powercab Plus.
@@zakklee2556 honestly the L2T sounds better and the power cabs are so over priced. Any decent powered 12 speaker or PA bin is a better option to my ear
@@ShredRexGuitar I got 2 powercab +. The feature of simultaneously using input 2 FRFR for monitor and input 1 for guitar speaker sim. The l2t only had either or.
Wow, I'm shocked, a bunch of guys got paid by Line 6 to be in a video and they said it was a great. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the PC, but really you have to take anything said here with a grain of salt.
Honestly why would you want a cab on a unit processor that has xlr out's ..you can just go to main house and you don't need cab's ..even in a studio session as well..
For stage volume/monitor use. And because if you are using the PowerCab's speaker emulations, you aren't running a cab or IR on the Helix. The XLR out on the PowerCab sends a mic'd signal. And on the PowerCab Plus, you can choose the mic and distance.
With a Kemper or Axe FX unit you need an expensive FRFR cab with clean amplification to obtain the ultimate results. And even then controlled feedback could be difficult. Unlike a Marshall head and 4x12 cab, those FRFR cabs were very focused to a specific location,.. Move a few feet out of that spot, and it was not as good. These next gen powered cabs give you that frequency response to truly replicate the profile you are using, but also "push air" like these artist keep mentioning, and fill the room better than earlier systems. Running directly to the mains is fine for your house mix, but no guitarist I know wants to give up monitoring his local output. Some guys may use IEM's or even headphones (Paul Gilbert) but that feel on your legs and back from the air coming off your cabs is not replaceable with NFM's. These things rock, and though not cheap, are much better quality, and value than earlier FRFR systems. I'll take 2.
I've had great success running my Helix directly into the mixer at our gigs. The only time I've wished I had something like this, is when I go to an open mic night jam or something where my native sound rig isn't available.
here we observe a freak guitarist that is documented as taking no pleasure in the physicality of playing, but rather just wants to get the show over with. science and folklore alike maintain that they indeed have no soul.

Fabulous stuff, Line 6. Thank you for pushing the boundaries!
Pete for the win - make your 5W amp louder if you like how it sounds. Boom.
None of them were using the emulator output from what I could see...do they recommend an real mic ?
Well I think the point of the video is to show how the cab sounds. So to do that effectively they need to mic the speaker
Who said anything about frfr? Lol

Ir loading on the powercab is for XLR out to front of house.

Was I drunk when these were originally announced and the price was like $300 less than they are now to buy?
As a stage cab, or personal monitor... how does this differ from the stage source?

Mine sounds muffled 😬
Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but honestly my stagesource l2m sounds better than my PowerCab my own experience

Maximum Respect to Peter Thorn (great man and guitarist) and the others need a shampoo for greasy hair, a bath and some clean clothes without holes
The mangy hipster look is revolting. It makes me feel sorry for their guitars.
such comments confirm that rock is dead and buried deep (in your case... :D )
Pete Thorn looks like an alley cat, not a bad thing. If you're playing overdriven and distorted guitars, you better look like shit if you ask me. ;)
Who's Pete Thorn ?
A very good guitar player.

It's too bad they couldn't make the cab look, you know... pretty. I wana walk in and see a piece of cake waiting for me to play it lol.
