Made me laugh when instead of the starfish it was the GMK got knocked off 🤣 You guys make me love zoas more and more! Passionate reefers! Peace and Love!
You guys should do a series of care requirements based on your experience for each zoa you have. I think that'd be such a cool series. Just little tid bit short videos with care requirements
I agree, I would love a video like this to help me out as a newbie to the hobby, as we plan to largely keep Zoanthids in our reef tank & I would definitely benefit from a care requirements video with some guidance on which are easiest to keep ranging to more of the more difficult Zoa varieties.
Great video guys!!! After 15 years and different life events had to take down my tank, 14 months later its ready for water, cannot wait for some zoas :D
Great video! 2nd time around collecting them! I have had GMKs 3 maybe 4 times and they all melted. I had a huge colony of speck kraks that were delivered in a bad way though and all melted. I just lost some exospheres and the others one I have right next to them are fine! My lsoh are all good! Any theorys as to what causes melting and what you can do when they start? I may have introduced some asteria! Are you saying Harlequin shrimp kills them? You should do a new video on the new ones since this! I just lost my Godbeasts UGGHH I got all of these at good prices but paid over 100 pp for those!
I don’t know what types of zoas they were, but I had some in my 125 reef tank, they grew over the rock. There was two rocks and two different types of zoas and then about three months after they covered the rock, they just all melted away, and everything else was doing fine in the tank so I don’t know what the issue was.
I have the darth maul zoas and they haven’t opened since the day I got them 4months but man they are beautiful. Closed up and super small 🥺🙏🏼 praying for there recovery.
Hi manny!!! Help!!! I have the captian jerks on a rock with rock flowers and utter kaos. The jerks are taking over completly. I want ro keep the rock flowers and utter kaos. Everytime i take the rock out and scrape off the jerks they come back even worse. I need your help!!! Im near Orlando thank you in advance!
i'm on my 2nd white zombie attempt, my favorite zoa, but man they're tough. i've had good luck with this 2nd attempt putting them low light and low flow.
The hardest Zoa for me to keep is the occasional zoa I would try and they die. Does someone make plastic reef safe zoes frags or colonies? Might be the way to go for me.
I’ve got two Zoa colonies in my tank, both started with 3 polyps and now one had completely covered the rock and the other is still just 3 polyps, I feed it, I tried moving it out of the shade a little while ago, tank chemistry is great and the polyps and frag plug are clean. I’m just lost now
Emeralds on fire I’ve noticed depends on the specimen I had one that blew up and currently have one that is taking forever to grow. I think zoas not acclimating to reef parameters causing melting lighting etc . Typically wild zoas melt way more than cultured
I bought a single GMK for a good price and then it morphed into a predator…. (Or always was but looked close at purchase.) still was a good deal either way and I have like 8 heads now
I have all those zoas and more in a Reefer 350xl. they grow like wildfire. It's all in your params. dosing helps as well. I also do not have a single aiptasia in my tank. Peppermint shrimps are good for that. Nice tank though. If I could do it again, I would most likely have better rockwork. My most prized zoa is the Stratosphere. $500~ a Polyp.
I'm completely obsessed with zoas. Makes me sad that GMKs, and white zombies are moody. I love both of those zoas, and will try my hand with both. But I will make sure not to become too attached.
FOR SOFT coral like zoa you need to keep your eye on your iodine they need iodine in their system using active carbon suck up the iodine they need !so you have to some what dose some iodine in your water
@@ZoaTankBoyz you know whats funny? Ive never owned a "cheap" fast growing zoa. Other than AOI of course. Have you ever done a video sharing how much light/flow your different zoas like? I did a thread on r2r on it and we all got some good info out of it.
All zoas for me😅 and zoas are my most favorite out of all the corals. Now, I’m doing mushrooms and torches. My doser just recently dumped all my Calc and Alk. And you know it, only things that died in the tank are zoas and palys. Argh……..so sad. Always love y’all videos!!! The zoas contents especially
@@ZoaTankBoyz non retail (not sure why anyone buys retail). No singles available atm on reef2reef but 250 for 2, 400 for 3. 1000 for 10. Ebay is same 400 for 3. Even Calikid is only chargin 400/polyp and they charge premium plus
Wow I have some zoas just like that. Lol. Colors are a bit different. I spent 10 bucks for a small colony. Lol I get a laugh at ppl spending way too much on shit that looks so much alike. Maybe it's just me hating. Much love to all reef keeping.
Totally agree with GMKs and Halls I went from 12polyps of GMKs to 1. However now I have a nice colony of them. The secret to success is to frag and frag them often. @simplereefer
I grow gmk like wild fire and sell them for 50 per polyp cause this hoppy is getting out of hand with the prices 🙄
🔥😦
Ik this is a year apart but still for sell???
Any available for shipping?
Love the videos, tanks look amazing. I don’t know who your interior designer is, but your crib is fire. Love the decor in the tank & in the home!
🔥🔥🔥🙏🙏🙏
I love it how u gave flow n lighting tips for every "hard to keep zoa except the gmk.

Love the tank and the video!
Greetings from Germany. I love your channel

Bro I love all of your videos! How do you switch your iPhone to capture such great colors? Do you use a lens?
I do! Polyplab lens and orange filters! Thank you 🔥

I bought a exosphere frag with two heads… and now they are 4 heads with a 5th small one, It's only been a month and a half since I bought them
I use reef energy from red sea every 15 data, and i dose AF iodine, af energy and af vitality weekly, nitrates stay in 20/30
I have the darth maul zoas and they haven’t opened since the day I got them 4months but man they are beautiful. Closed up and super small 🥺🙏🏼 praying for there recovery.
They are notorious for that lol I had one polyp for months then about three heads in six months then lost em ! Good luck!
I bet your mag is low compared to your calcium. And low iodine.
I got those little starfish in my tank. Might have to borrow a harlequin for a couple weeks
Good episode... been thinking of getting some Rasta and Bam Bams. Where do they rate in terms of difficulty?
Super easy! Bam bams will be easy Rasta just make sure nothing bothers them but easyyyyy
My Bambams always let me know when my alk is high. Just the bambams.

I just got some exospheres and kraks, a few days of putting them in the tank the exos grew a new head 🙏🙌
I used to have the same issue with the asterina starfish. I went to war with them after they toasted my bam bams years ago
i'm on my 2nd white zombie attempt, my favorite zoa, but man they're tough. i've had good luck with this 2nd attempt putting them low light and low flow.
Here in San Antonio I got a 3 polyp frag for $140 bucks and they’re doing very well so far.!
1:53 I love my little shop of horror zoas
Absolutely love the intro to this video 🌚

I’m back to reefing after a 15 year break. I’m having trouble with my Zoa’s, do you mind posting your water parameters?
This video is coming this week! All my parameters stay tuned.
Have some Zoe nudibranch all over my Zoe’s. I keep dipping. Have you ever got them in your tank?
Saludos desde Mexico
Saludos!
Keep an eye out on some of the zoa groups on FB 👀 Street price for GMK is closer to 150, of course not including shipping
Street prices!!!!! 😂 I love it 🔥
Any tips on keeping white zombies? Light, flow, params?
For me its emeralds on fire. 1 polyp in a year! What do you think are the main reasons for colonies melting?
Emeralds on fire I’ve noticed depends on the specimen I had one that blew up and currently have one that is taking forever to grow.
I think zoas not acclimating to reef parameters causing melting lighting etc . Typically wild zoas melt way more than cultured
I bought a single GMK for a good price and then it morphed into a predator…. (Or always was but looked close at purchase.) still was a good deal either way and I have like 8 heads now
Those two have always looked similar to me!

Acid reflux are notorious melters for me.
Your right! I have had them melt on me too!
looking for legit gmks and little shops to buy online.. any sites that you trust for your zoas ?
World wide corals and top shelf aquatics!
Why is half the frag white and half ok ... Could it be from falling over??
What are the best care requirements for the GMKs
Next video top five easiest, fastest growing zoas?
Consider it done!
Would love that
What state you guys in broski’s?
My exos like high light. They sit in 200-225 par
I’m in the tampa Bay Area would love to meet a frag swap group.
Me too 😂
Nice

Next, the fastest growing zoanthids please
👍🏼🔥
Not technically a zoa but Captain jerk palys will take over a tank
Is the predator zoa hard to keep?
FOR SOFT coral like zoa you need to keep your eye on your iodine they need iodine in their system using active carbon suck up the iodine they need !so you have to some what dose some iodine in your water
🔥🔥🔥
I have zero luck keeping Mary Jane's
I need some Mary Janes!
Requesting a new updated video haha!
That aptaisia isn't dead lol good luck bra
You can get GMK for $200 PP these days
Finally! 🔥
What is max temp for zoas ?
Spread them around into different tanks
Agreed!
I grew a cornbread bloodshot krak from 1 to 12 in 6 months. Then they didnt survive my dino routine. 😥
I upgraded tanks and they never got happy in the new tank and then it got dinos
Blood shots do that
They could be in this video as top melting Zoa I mean I’ve grown them out countless times and n then boom gone 😂
@@ZoaTankBoyz fragging them really helped growth. Shoulda kept a backup for myself.
@@ZoaTankBoyz you know whats funny? Ive never owned a "cheap" fast growing zoa. Other than AOI of course. Have you ever done a video sharing how much light/flow your different zoas like? I did a thread on r2r on it and we all got some good info out of it.
Peppermint shrimp got rid of my aiptasia overnight
100%

If you haven’t considered them yet, Berghia Nudibranch are a more effective and safer alternative. Keep up the great content.
👍🏼🔥🙏
The wrasse would pick off the BNs I think
Very possible, good point.
Just buy a harlequin shrimp.
Marine beta will eat him! And that’s one expensive meal!
Gmks run for 150 lol
Lol 😂
