    I have the orbi 960 mesh 3 pack. I am also an IT guy so pretty knowledgeable when it comes to this stuff. As far as coverage there might be a little more range with the 970 series but I would not be able to fathom to upgrade. the 6 ghz vs 5 for just iot devices and for a couple tablets and phones to have more speed when they are already currently getting 500 mbps. These defiantly look cool but even though this break through in tech has come devices will take years to catch up to this and by then the next wifi tech would be out.
    however with that said if if you don't already have an older version or looking to get the 970 coming from the old standard all in one single router combo - you will feel amazed with this mesh upgrade.

    Wi-Fi 7 is not only a big game changer for clients(devices) but also for the dedicated backhaul. I am highly impressed on the Wi-Fi 7 backhaul connectivity. For mesh system, the performance is amazing when a client connects behind a satellite compare to Wi-Fi 6/6E mesh systems. Should do a performance test behind satellites, will be amazing to see! Should do it especially on the new iPhone 15 Pro :)

    • @GeorgeLangabeer
      @GeorgeLangabeer  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah, I’ve only had it week. But all of this to come for sure. I’ll be doing a full review once I’ve got to spend some time with it and there’s a few more Wi-Fi seven devices.

  • @BrandonDoyleMN
    @BrandonDoyleMN 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Seems like a very high quality system, once you’ve got more devices that support Wi-Fi 7 that’ll be very nice to have. The new eero system with Wi-Fi 7 is right up there in price, the next step up would be a professional system with hardwired access points.

    • @GeorgeLangabeer
      @GeorgeLangabeer  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, I’m banking on it being worth it once more devices are WiFi 7. Only time will tell.

    8:57 also speed test in your router app is SO important. To know what your speed you are getting from the ISP is so vital. Especially when most devices only connect to WiFi and will vary in speed.

    Despite this being currently way out of budget, now I know what to save up for. By the time I can afford the 970 series, I’m sure it’ll have come down in cost and I don’t want to settle with how quickly wireless standards are evolving and becoming ever more efficient with lots of smaller devices connecting to the web. I have one of the first-gen mesh systems from Netgear and it’s awesome but I’m noticing it’s having a hard time allocating bandwidth smoothly between several devices streaming HD content, and others that need a consistent signal like a Ring camera feed, or smart doorbell. Things buffer a little bit when lots of people are using several devices each on the network and simultaneously moving those devices around the property independently of each other. I just see WiFi 7 standards having a much easier time with this as well as eventual 8k streaming when more folks upgrade to 80+/90+ inch TV screens in the coming decade.

    I sadly cannot afford to fork over $2k on a router. I do have a lower end orbi mesh system and it works just fine for my smart home needs. I think I have around 30 devices and im getting almost exactly what I pay for as far as my internet speeds. Until I have more devices and need to upgrade, I think i'll wait. Good video as always!

    • @GeorgeLangabeer
      @GeorgeLangabeer  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, it’s tough to justify this one. If I didn’t do what I do, I don’t know if I would have made this purchase. But yeah, if it’s not broke, don’t fix it. Sounds like you’re doing just fine with your setup.

  • @5gsconcepts406

    How does it compare to the AMPLIFI Alien setup you just recently had as far as HomeKit stability, coverage, and iPhone WiFi Speedtest?

    • @GeorgeLangabeer
      @GeorgeLangabeer  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For coverage it’s not a fair test, because I’ve moved to a much smaller place since I had the Alien. Also not a fair test for the speedtest comparison because I’ve switched internet providers & I’m back to having fiber at the new place. I can say, HomeKit stability has been flawless.

    • @GeorgeLangabeer
      @GeorgeLangabeer  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, exactly. That’s one of the reasons I still bought 3. So I could wire some of my other devices to the satellites. I have both satellites set up wirelessly & the connected devices have been flawless so far.

    I'm ridiculous too! If you dont have ethernet in your home these are awesome giving me 10Gbps between sats. I have 100's of devices in my home, My big disappointments are the 250 IP limit Netgear imposed on DHCP service (Lynksys, TP-Link, Asus have zero limits), and the Admin features/menu lacks many features that were standard on my old Linksys Wifi6 router.. Oh and did you find the power plugs to be a bit to delicate? 50% of the time I turn the Sats to add ethernet the stupid things reboot so I need to hold the power plug tight just in case.

  • @johnferreira174

    I currently have a Wi-Fi five
    That seems to max out at 200 250 meg second . What are you finding with the Wi-Fi seven in terms of true wireless speed?

    • @GeorgeLangabeer
      @GeorgeLangabeer  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As I show in the video I’m getting between 950-999 down/Up.

  • @NewHomeTech
    @NewHomeTech 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Sheesh, I don’t think I could buy this. I loved my Orbi 850 system for a solid WiFi network. But I employed a Unifi system in my new home and I am getting more flexibility in dialing in on speed and my HomeKit home is the most stable it has ever been. Even if one of my HomePod minis takes over as a hub my HomeKit home is still rock solid.
    For 2300 I can build out a Dream Machine Pro SE with a POE switch and 3 access points. Save 1000 dollars and build out a camera system with NVR with the savings.

    Man Wi-fi 6E hasn’t really taken off yet and yes, like you said there is only one device right now which is a phone that has Wi-Fi seven I will say the wait between Wi-fi n and Wi-Fi AC was a longer weight than this and I agree $2200 for a router is insane but this is Netgear, we are talking about

      @@GeorgeLangabeer as these wifi standards have gotten more complex, especially 6, 6E and 7, I wonder if there is any independent 3rd party who rates how well hardware meets a spec?

    It isn't *necessarily* crazy to spend that much on WiFi-7 access points, but I think it'd make more sense to wait until you had several devices which also have support for WiFi 7. I'd think you would want a setup where you could expect to notice the advantage of adding WiFi 7. There is the coolness factor, of course. And given your business there's an advantage to exploring new capabilities right away.
    Me, I have an older Unifi access point, and there are exactly 10 devices using it, and three of those really want to use only the 2.5-GHz channels. So, yeah, I'm not likely to spend > $2000 for modern access points! 🙂 Right now I have three cameras on wifi. I plan to add two more cameras soon, but I intend to have those ethernet-wired and not on WiFi.

    With how state of the art this thing is, I’d be curious how a Google nest WiFi camera system would perform. I have Google mesh for my 1,600sqft house-two are hardwired in- 7 cameras in total. But damn, it takes forever after I get alert to pull up live video. Dunno if it’s Google or WiFi. Super annoying. At the point of wanting to ditch it and go 100% with a hardwired CCTV system.

    • @GeorgeLangabeer
      @GeorgeLangabeer  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Funny you should ask…I was having a horrible time with my Aqara cameras & connection issues. So I just switched back to Google Nest Cameras (using the Starling Home Hub to get them in HomeKit). With this router, the connection to those cameras is crazy fast, both in The Google Home App & Apple Home App. It’s the fastest connection of any Wi-Fi camera I’ve ever tried (and I’ve tried them all). I’m also only noticing about a half second delay on the live view (which is very good).
      Makes me pretty disappointed with Aqara.

    The fact the satellites are $900 and don’t have 10gbe ports is criminal and makes the system completely not worth it. I have 10Gbe fiber, and I was so disappointed when I saw the satellite specs. TPLink BE95 seem to be the best rn for mesh

    better to have wired access points IMO
    I know that when you test on the Orbi app you're getting near gig speed, but how about speedtest app? on my unifi app the speediest runs the speedtest through the controller so it's often much higher than what your normal wifi speed would be
