In Finland it is illegal to use your phone while you are driving and you are unable to have both of your hands on the steering wheel. Only handsfrees are allowed.
Good point on driving cars! We may be good at empty roads. But good and smooth traffic is realazing there are other people on road as well. Thats what we haven't learned yet.
Finns are not good drivers? :) Well, you can look how many f1 drivers come from this nation of 5 mill. people. Or even more, how many rally drivers. One famous driving trick Finns have introduced to the world of rally is called the Scandinavian flick. Well, maybe Swedes were along in the process, don't really know, but if there was 1 good Swede driving, there was 5 or 6 Finns. The sandy roads in the central Finland with no other traffic MAKES Finns good drivers. Because that's why they drive fast there, on narrow sandy, muddy roads. Or with snow banks. Check Finnish rally drivers on YT
Possibly good rally drivers. The driving just feels more jerky when I ride in the car. And it isn't everyone, but some people make me car sick when I'm in the car because the turns don't feel as smooth. Maybe it's not bad driving, but they can be less controlled because there are fewer people on the roads
timomastosalo -in a car again. i'm realizing that it's not that the driving is bad... but it's not smooth. the turning is sharp and they accelerate sharply
Only problem in Finnish driving is that we don't take others into account and we become so jealous if someone goes past you. However, people usually know traffic rules well and follows them.
Were/are you in Lapland? Bc I've lived in Turku all my life and the driving situation is a lot different here 😅 (although i did live 12 years of my life outside the city in the middle of nowhere) and of course the schools are also bigger. I've been to the north like once, should visit more.
Yeah. Almost everytime when I'm travelling with someone the driver is at some point watching at his/her phone. I got driving license about 2 months ago and I decided that I will not use my phone when I'm driving.
It´s idiotic! Maybe more normal for younger generations. My little brother texted while driving, whenever he does that I say "put your phone down or I´ll drive..." It´s so irresponsible it really gets on my nerves :P
Well the reason I included the ethnicities is that because in the US there is a tendency for poor communities to recieve less funding, but also a tendency for poor communities to be predominantly hispanic and black. The system of economics under which are society operates perpetuates these issues so that a class struggle is also a race struggle whether you choose to mention it or not
I may get into it more with sources in a later vlog. This isn't really the platform for in-depth discussion. Here's an NPR article about education and it's relation to neighborhood and income bracket. www.npr.org/2016/04/18/474256366/why-americas-schools-have-a-money-problem
Hey, hi. Soooo.... i'm from brazil and my country is one of the worstest education systems in the world. :v yeah. So i was thinking if maybe you can pass me some links of online high school classes from filand (subtitled in english would be perfect) sorry for the long text
Maybe if i had some of the best classes in the world everything would be a little easier around here. I can like... pass most of the admition exams in my country :D Is this like cheating?
Teachers there in Finland seem to be nice! In my country, they are very strict, soulless (lmao), and would hit you with a ruler if you did something "unacceptable". Very few are nice, and being nice comes a price, they'll give you the most difficult projects that will get you crazy to the point you'll have no hair 😂. Back at my junior high school, a Catholic all-girls private school, we wore boring school uniforms and memorized these long useless school hymnd to recite every week. So cool that in Finland they don't do that (more freedom!! so jealous). :P
Oh, and it's so laid back there!! In my class, we just talked about academics and grades (especially in core subjects) during our free time. 😂 (Basically a class of no-life Asian students w/ parents who have impossible expectations 😛)
Koulut on julkisia paikkoja mut sielä ei saa kuvata! Meillä on ainaki joutunu rehtorin puheelle kun kuvia tai videoita tunneilta tai koulun opiskelijoista on joutunu nettii...
BTW Lukio comes from the verb Lukea = to read. So it's pretty much like Readio :D
Or Readium :)
Yeah Readium is better.
Hey nice vlog! In fact, I am Finnish, and it is always fun to look at this kind of videos. Continue to do these things! :)
This was really interesting! you should definitely vlog more while you're staying in Finland. Keep it up!

I can't believe your teachers use chalk boards

Maybe because in rally you can just go however you want. ;)

Sounds like some men drivers I've met :)

Not in lapland. In eastern Finland. The roads are usually pretty empty, but maybe any road would look empty coming from USA.
woah dude, you look so Swedish
Gianfranco M no, he looks so finnish
No difference.

TheJere213 That's a good decision.
Driving slowly when speaking on phone is doable. Texting and driving is very dangerous. Both are illegal and will be fined.

In our high school there is only 6 classes
From an educator, thank you sharing.
Why does it have to be rich white and poor black/Hispanic? Why not just rich and poor?

ethnic communities receive less funding? do you have any figures to back this up? i'd argue it's the opposite

Haha! Yeah, the teachers are very nice here
Finnish drivers and finnish taxi drivers are completely different. Also sitting in traffic for hours does not make one a good driver.
hey Billi waddup
I think it's illegal to film at finnish schools...
Also I'm currently studying at a school with at least 900 people though I do live in the "town of students/studying"...
