Not only an advocate for right to repair, but also going the FOSS (Free and Open Source Software - free as in freedom, not a free beer) route. That's really nice to see :)
is interesting that free as in libre is usually the same as free as in gratis, honestly, is easier in spanish, we still use "software libre" since i have memory, and it still implies open source (codigo abierto), because libre is also open, we say "al aire libre" to say an open space outside.
@@alenasenie6928 Note Free Software is not always gratis. Even the GPL doesn't forbid you to sell software. It just says that you must provide a copy (or an offer to get the copy) of the source code under to whoever you distribute the software (which is not necessarily the whole world). But the general case is indeed free = gratis. Also AFAIK, FlexBV itself isn't FLOSS, but based on OpenBoardView, which itself is FLOSS under MIT (which does allow forking and keeping the fork closed), with lots of additions useful to repair businesses. And Paul Daniels does contribute back to OBV for some parts.

Hi Louis, I have an A1708 for a moment i was charging it via one of the port and decided to to charge it via a usb-c adapter so I could connect the other port to a display then and then the projected screen went blank. I did reset smc and when the display came back on, the battery does not charge say power adapter connected but not charging. Went to the system info then to power there I saw the power input is just 15W. I am in Ghana so please what can you suggest

If anyone could help I've been racking my brain on a 820-3662 board . I originally got it where it was turning on but with a beep noise like a memory issue, the board had corrosion in multiple locations so I just ultrasonic cleaned it first to see if that would help. it stopped turning on all together after that. I checked all power rails and the first one missing was pp5v_s4. I followed it back and I'm missing pm_slp_s5_l and I'm missing ALL_SYS_PWRGD. I feel like im running around in circles trying to chase this down

Man I just swapped from an in-house engineering businesses board repair to a consumer product board repair and it's INSANE. First of all. I've always had the privilege of never having to go on an expedition for schematics and boardviews. I'd just get the altium files straight away. AND, god, in one week of work I go two essentially unfixable boards that I spent most of my time on because other technicians got to it before me and majorly fucked it up. Actually found "man made" shorts, as in, someone went through the trouble of manually shorting a chip. And another one where some genius managed to kill the board by updating the bios and clearly unplugging it during the process. Both very old PCs that wouldn't justify the manhours to hunt down all the issues. Fucking frustrating. Edit... Forgot, where do people actually find boardviews? I had no luck finding schematics and boardview for an Asus laptop and could find schematics but no boardview for a Lenovo laptop. It's infuriating.
Can someone here please help me? I have a huawei p30 that had a broken screen it took me 7 months to get a screen for it I got the service pack. But I messed up the mother board when I tried changing over the parts. Normally at this point I would just cut my losses and scrap it. But this is not a normal case, the phone holds the last pictures of my mum before she passed away then 6 months later my dad passed away too. It's almost been a year now and I'm not dealing with it yet. Is there anyone that can help me? I'm from and live in Ireland. Thank you for reading.
Meta (yes, that way predates Facebook by two decades), Super and Hyper are Unix names for modifier keys that were on workstation keywords back then, and are the names used internally in Xorg, the graphics server used on GNU/Linux. Since Linux can be used on PC but also Macs and other machines, those names are still kept instead of machine-specific names. Also, those can be remapped by user preference, so they don't always refer to the same keys on the keyboard. On PC, usually (but again this can be changed) Meta = Alt, Super = Win. I think the comment was mentioning the rudimentary tiling ability of XFCE, which is also available on other desktops now, like in kwin where I use it quite often, by using Super (so, Win key) and arrow keys, to get windows to fit screen halves and quarters easily. Very handy to watch Louis and still work on stuff 🙂
