Yes we have, at 91 we are so happy he’s alive and able to communicate, he always ask his son if there is anything he can do for him, even when he’s feeling tired. What a darling. The repetition must be hard for Dan, but he copes well. Good job taking care of your aged daddy, and not putting him in a home, to be lost in the system!

What a great father always asking about his family and what he can do for you guys. I met my dad at 9 he left when I was 3 months my sisters 2 and 3 years old. I forgave him and loved him and he tried to makeup for his mistakes. I still miss him and he’s passed many years ago with many regrets. Believe me they don’t make too many men like your dad - he might have lost his memory but his soul and kind heart seem to be intact.
Your father is the only person I can listen to talking about the same things over and over..He is so caring and genuine it truly beautiful. Bless you Ed and Dan and family.

You have a great father, Sir. At the age of 17 my grandfather was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, and my grandmother later on when i turned 18. I lived with them at the time, and they are all I had. I spent many years taking care of them, but I regret none of it. It was hard to deal wirh such a horrible affliction at such a young age, watching the two people you respect most loose their identity slowly, but there where great times too. A fond memory I had was when one day, my grandmother came up to me and apologized for her delusions and that she knew she was wrong sometimes, but expressed how it was so frustrating to deal with when she believes what she thinks is true. That was certianly one of those rare lapses of sanity in a sea of confusion in her later life. Never loose patience with your father, and always remember that even if it is frustrating at times, they'd do the same for us a thousand times over. It's so kind of you to take care of him in these years of his life, I am 100% certain he understands it as well deep down. I am 24 now, and think about them every day. I experienced many setbacks academically and career wise because of it, but I belive taking care of my grandparents was the nobelest thing I have ever done, that my time with them was invaluable.
