  • I've learned a lot some about Singapore's history by visiting places and talking to people, but I thought it would be fun to go deeper with a trip to Singapore's #1 spot for history!

    Love this video! Next stop, please visit the national gallery or the Asian civilisation museum! As a Singaporean, I go to the national gallery at least once every few months. Just love it there. It’s housed in the former Supreme Court. Oh, please mix the noodles with the gravy for even distribution of sauce, it will taste better and be less clumpy. Enjoy!

      @@SingaporeExpat yeah, my parents lived through it. I asked my Mum how it felt to go through all the changes and uncertainty , she said “just had to go with the flow and not worry too much” hahaha.

      @@SingaporeExpat because we are supposed to go for a tour in the National Musuem, but due to COVID-19 measures, we were not allowed to go on field trips, so my teacher found this video so that at least we can see what’s inside.

    Hi David, I enjoyed the tour of the museum with you. Your lunch looks delicious, just don't forget to toss and mix your noodles well like the locals would cos all the sauce, seasoning and chilli sauce seemed to be sitting at the bottom.

    • @SingaporeExpat
      @SingaporeExpat  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I did mix it up after the video a bit. I got a little excited while recording and didn't want to slow down the pace of the video too much. For sure need sauce covering everything!

    The sign highlights the letters "NMS". To a gamer, that's "No Man's Sky".... 😜
    Thanks for this vid... I haven't been inside the museum since like... 1982... 😂😂 Cuz there was this very cute girl that liked history and she said she wanted to go there... so, ya know...
    ps: Kampungs pronounced like "come-pongs". LKY's briefcase was used right up to the day he collapsed in Feb 2015. He never "retired".

    You stated that it must have been frustrating for the locals to be occupied by the British, among others. Singapore wasn't occupied by the British; it was founded by them. Previously the island was barely more than a swamp with a tiny indigenous population. The ancestors of all those Singaporeans of Indian and Chinese ethnicity came to Singapore to either work for the British or exploit the business opportunities offered by the British colony. It was the British who put in place most of the initial infrastructure, not only physical but also legal, governmental and educational. Following independence, the Singaporeans have done a magnificent job building upon these sound foundations to make Singapore the success it is today.
