    When the royal institute did a short video on the torroid and never mentioned you and after a bunch of people called them out they finally added a link to your channel in the description if that makes you feel better

    It's insane how fast the plasma toroids went from a niche little hv hobbyist project to a fully commercialized almost viral product. Definitely was interesting to see how you along with all the other hobbyists popularized it!

    Hey BackMacSci! Thanks so much for featuring our product!
    I'll apologize first.
    Not crediting you was a genuine mistake, and I’m really sorry about that. We’re going to fix it right away. We did mention you on Instagram and other platforms, but we missed it on the Kickstarter page. I’m really sorry again

    6:09 😂 I actually found that myself before watching this video and my reaction was the exact same… that’s probably the most obscure use someone could come up with. They, probably already happened to use those types of oils prior and just decided to drop some on top of the glass and call it a feature. It gave me a bit of a laugh. Imagine buying a $650 plasma tortoid to drop oils on top of it.

    The aliexpress ones started popping up right around the same time as i was finishing the edit on my plasma toroid video, and I definitely had moments of bring amazed at how quickly this project has been commoditized.
    I do have some mixed feelings about safety re: selling these mass-market. I saw my device interfering with various capacitive touchscreens/touch-buttons from meters away on multiple occasions. Within a meter of the device I measured >1-watt power received by a 100Mhz+ wideband (but still very mis-tuned) antenna, so physical damage to electronics might even be possible in some rare cases.
    Those field effects are inherent to mechanism of operation so they can't be engineered away, short of enclosing the entire device in a faraday cage.
    Products for sale in the US are also generally required to be tested/certified against maximum EMI limits. The rules are not often enforced (especially on random aliexpress imports), but i don't think there's any way a plasma toroid can be legally compliant -- and that's a big reason I didn't leap to start selling my version.

    Cool, thanks for the reviews. What does it take to add "wave mode" and "spin mode" to the display, as in the ALOH product? You mentioned that you have those modes on your plasma toroids too, but I haven't seen it described or explained in your other videos or published circuits before. Is there an extra circuit or extra coils or something else to make it display those modes on command?

    Did you ever figure out why the toroid sometimes sticks to the coil and doesn't float horizontal?

    • @BackMacSci
      @BackMacSci  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not exactly, but some people hypothesize that the sticking has to do with too high of a ratio of electric field to magnetic field created by the coil so that might attract the ring more.

    • @woofiewill
      @woofiewill 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They literally currently are used in Tokamak style fusion reactors. They haven't been able to pass the breakeven point for energy input vs energy output with them yet though (as with basically every other fusion reactor so far).

    I've also recently been fed the ads for these and found a ton of them on Ebay with your TH-cam channel linked, I was incredibly disappointed it wasn't you behind them.
    The circuit is simple but lacking considerable safety features for CC and overheating and I don't trust any of these products to have properly implemented them. For reference people, you can build a driver circuit with a custom PCB for less than $20.
    -Edit: Pretty sure ALOH is faking some of those images/videos. The toroid always sits within the magnetic field of the secondary coil, they've embedded the coil below the flask and yet show the toroid sitting directly in the center.-

    I like heavily involve myself with witchcraft, and alchemy, and some other things, on a religious or cultural basis...
    So my technologies are always intertwined with esoteric principles.
    You can do a lot of the same things without intertwining mysticism into technologies...
    But, to me, these ritualistic intentions, serve a physical purpose, and are therefore inherently a part of my products.
