I can only say ' waooo ' to this conversation. It's ground breaking . Ivy Prosper ? Wonderull , courageous , Applaudable . She took out the taboo surrounding menopause . Jay , you did a good job in this interview.
@@IvyProsper this was such a needed conversation. You have saved some women's lives with your honesty and vulnerability. Some woman will be comforted and encouraged by your story.
Yes, menopause is challenging, but all the physical symptoms are manageable even the vaginal dryness low libido and menopausal weight gain . We still have so much life to live and make a meaningful contribution to ourselves, our causes and our community.
Jay, this interview was valuable. You are an amazing interviewer and this Ivy an incredible conversationalist and activist. I am blown away by both of you. My wife is a Black woman so I have a head start at managing her traumas but this will help that much more when that time comes from her. I had no idea a woman goes through all of that, the graphic details of it. Thanks for what you do. It's amazing.
I enjoyed every minute of this interview! Thanks Jay and @ivyprosper. It's so important to share our experiences with our bodies and subsequently our mental health. Perimenopause is no joke! I'm looking forward to your skincare line.
My perspective is totally different. I couldn’t wait to go through menopause. I bled so very heavy from the age 13 every single month(except during my birth control pills era) that a few night sweats was a breeze. I know females who used medication. But, I celebrated it and started to wear white clothing. Now, vaginal dryness is real and a low sex drive is real. But, no pain, no embarrassments, no event cancellations was a welcome to me. As far as children, I was never pregnant and sometimes I regret it. But not really. I have a full life and have done things and gone places (like traveling with Jay) that I would’ve never experienced if I were still paying student loans and now educating grandchildren. Sounds selfish but it is what it is.
Thank you Jay for having this convwrsation with Ivy. Ivy, you were a wonderful interviewee. You broke it down well, kudos to you.🤗❤❤ Word of advice, it is better to carry a flannel and/or a fan. I have several flannels of different colours to match my attire.😊
Ivy you are speaking for a lot of women including myself. This topic is very difficult to talk about especially if you're still single and doesn't have children. You feel embarrassed and judged by your family and friends. Thanks for your courage and boldness. By the way I would never could have known that you are 51. You look very good. 50 is the new 40 lol😅
Ivy’s so gorgeous 🤩, regardless of age,50 I think is too early to call yourself old maybe 65…Iook at Jay & Ivy are good looking ppl, I hope to look like that once I get there

Great topic! But I would say that not all women 45 plus whose menses has stopped go through symptoms associated with pre-menopause and menopause. In my case, the only thing I experienced was cessation of my menses. Other than that, life just continues as usual.
Ivey, my child, I trust you implicitly, but I don't believe you're fifty years old. If so. You're a testament to the old adage, Black don't crack. May the Creator continue to bless you and keep you in all your efforts, especially at being a promoter our Motherland.
Quite possible there is an association between the onset of menopausal symptoms & the C vaccine, since knowledge about orthodox medicine is never absolute. However, it is not uncommon for anyone to have one or a few symptoms of a brief flu-like illness eg a fever or bouts of that, profuse sweating, joint/bodily pain, headache, malaise, etc after most vaccine shots. So, best to keep an open mind about a causal relationship or some association …
She failed to take account of the fact that she's lived most of her life in a highly industrialised country with polluted air, food and water. Isn't that a more rational explanation for starting menopause earlier than her Ghanaian relatives? When all things are equal, the simplest explanation tends to be the right one.
I'm the same age as Ivy with MANY similarities she discussed. The one constant in my life now is a portable fan hah. Eating edamame helps with hormonal changes as well.
These men out here aren’t that great. Some are in their Purpose but a great number do nothing but hurt and disappoint. So one is better off without that trauma. 💯
@@Antimony-wh5in you are right and aware that some people focus on superficial things like height. However my husband is 5'6" and a giant among all men. The height of a man's character matters most to women of substance. That you like Ivy says you have excellent taste in women. Good luck finding your person. 💪🏿
It seems to be American culture. But it is becoming popular in Ghana. Due to poverty, nowadays you see young Ghanaian men dating African American women old enough to be their grandmother.
@sweetbadd9852how do you define popular...it is the same as an older man using wealth to marry a younger women...all this FAILED behaviour that has destroyed COMMUNITIES in the western world is being bought to Africa and we are supposed to accept and approve...
So are you saying older people only have money to offer? Or are you saying young Ghanaian people are predators who search out older people for money? This seems like a really negative spin to put on old and young people alike. I only comment to remind us that generalizations can be harmful. Besides. Look at Ivy. She gives any girl in her 20s a run for her money. 😂❤💪🏿
Yeah, to have taken the gamble of one’s “kids being ‘great company’ at this age” by them dropping by to see you on their annual visitation to the nursing home? Or great company to lessen effects of menopause, etc??? Not to get started …
