I have a long-term hand injury and thought it would prevent me training to become a physio, but all the unis I contacted before applying said it wasn't an issue due to how little manual work such as massage is necessary. Huge relief to hear that confirmed in your video! They just said I might not be able to work in certain sectors such as neuro where physios need to manually lift and move limbs for individuals who have suffered a stroke for example?

That’s really good to know. Especially MSK that made me think that was all massage.

I have seen so many sectors in physiotherapy and that’s what made me decided it’s what I want to do. There’s so many opportunities in it not just msk which feels like most physios do

Good to know, I find massage pretty tiring and boring . But I need to say that, at the place where I'm doing some voluntary work as a student with my supervisor sports therapist, that short ( 5 min ) deep trigger points massage combined with mobilization/manipulations makes wonders in the pacients My supervisor works with. After that she starts giving the patiens exercises, and I think it actually works better. I followed her style and I had better results than without as most of the people I saw had very tight scapular region/ backs. But as you mentioned with the soccer example I guess the fact that my PT supervisor is also a PT for a handball team made her familiar with this way of working, as in sportsmen you need to get them ready asap :) it would be amazing if you made a video-example or something along these lines on how you assess one of your patients. I'm looking forword to working in the UK and I'd like to see what is different to eastern Europe.

Hi Modiga, thank you for your comment. Very interesting for sure.
I’m not allowed to film my sessions with patients because of confidentiality but I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have.
      Good luck!

If you specialise in Massage and apply for a physio assitant role, could you still choose or get permission from senior members to perform it as a treatment?

Hey masud, I have another doubt is sport science and msc physiotherapy in sports is same and doing msc physio in sport is good getting jobs is easy or hard. And which is better to do a normal msc physiotherapy or msc sports physiotherapy.

Hi Enrich, it depends on your end goal. If you want to go into sports, it helps you to stand out to have academic specialism in it however you could do it with just a standard physio course.
Sport science is different to physiotherapy. It’s more theory and research based. Physiotherapy is hands on and practical and medical .
