The back story here is the level of competition in the NCHC. 6 of 8 teams in the NCHC had overall winning records. 3 of 8 teams in the CCHA had overall winning records. Mankato was accustomed to dominating, and Denver is accustomed to grinding it out against North Dakota, Minnesota Duluth, St. Cloud, Western Michigan, Omaha and most years CC and Miami. NCHC Teams won the Division 1 National Championship 5 of the past 6 years.
I couldn't agree with you more
NCHC much stronger than the CCHA
I’m so glad I flew from Denver to go see this game. I was at the blue line glass seats. I will never forget the kids celebrating in front of me in the 3rd period!
This was Denver 9th National Title, they are now tie with the Michigan Wolverines for the most National Title, that is totally astonishing. The area of Denver is becoming more and more the land of Hockey.
-1958 -2004
-1960 -2005
-1961 -2017
-1968 -2022
-1969
Just for college hockey
there’s probably no kids from denver area on the team, all michigan, minny and canada kids
@@jacob1423 over half the team was Canadian. What a shame.
I also can’t forget the 1958, 1960, 1961, and 1969 titles.
@@redfordreddington8834 redwings avalanche rivalry was pretty interesting also
Ahh, Denver, classic team from the old dominant WCHA. Gotta love the Pioneers.
I agree with the WCHA part but way too many Canadians on Denver.
@@918-Verax salty
Major props to Chrona for keeping Denver Alive and making some amazing saves..
Chrona is my cousin, and yeah he was good!
Congratulations DU 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 9 time champions! Now let's get the Av's to bring home Lord Stanley's Cup!
That's right!!!!
I don't wanna jinx it but it would be some kind of record if eagles made it and avs lol
Done!
@@rockyzrockyx917 so awesome!!!
@@AlphaRomeoOneFive I agree. It's awesome for the whole state of Colorado.
Classic Minnesota teams
Classic Minnesota State
Classic Denver team over half of them are Canadian. Zero Pride on Ice.
@@918-Verax yea but Minnesota teams always choke
@@YooperHatesOhioState I agree but do they choke or maybe the bar is so high for Minnesota Hockey that anything but a Championship is a failure? Over 1,100 Minnesota natives have played NCAA Division I hockey the last seven seasons. Producing the largest amount of American-born National Hockey League talent has long been part of the lore of Minnesota hockey. Minnesota has produced nearly 60 more NHL players than the next closest state, Massachusetts, and nearly 100 more than the third place state of Michigan. So I guess maybe the MINNESOTA TEAM doesn't win but at least the players from Minnesota are winners and don't choke?
@@918-Verax I’m talking like every Minnesota team pro and college lol
Damn how they gonna put the champ pic as the thumbnail?! Rookie move here NCAA
Congrats Denver! Team full of Red Wings prospects.
HAHAHA
Good we need more help
🤣That's Absolutely correct and Funny, Denver ( Home of the Avalanche) has 6 Detroit Red Wing Prospects. The NHL Real Needs to move Detroit back to the Western Conference ( Central Division) move Nashville to the Eastern Conference.
5 Teams with the Best Prospects.
1. Detroit Red Wings...Prospects everywhere you look. They will be Scary Good Next Year.
2. L.A. Kings
3. Montreal Canadians
4. Anaheim Ducks.
5. Colorado Avalanche...That's a Scary Thought.
6. Minnesota Wild.
Note...This is a List based off of Several Sites Like "Sportsnet" and "NHL Rankings" and a couple others.
We may have lost this battle, but will be back.
Also for those NHL teams interested, step right up for your chance at winning the love of Dryden McKay
That kid id the real deal
NO you won't
Isn’t he already like 25 and only 5’11”
@@flamingbeaver9414 Yeah, so ? Most guys hit their prime at 30 and Saros (Preds Goalie) is the exact same size. Quality Goalies like this you can’t find at your local Costco.
No one asked you Ron go back to watching dragonball Z child.
Greatest 3rd period in the history of DU hockey. Way to go, Boys!!
Congrats, Pios!
CONGRATS DENVER AGAIN!!!
Denver wins the national championship and the Avs are the best team in the NHL right now. Colorado is now the real state of hockey
That's funny when not a single person on DU is actually from Colorado... your team is all Canadians and there is more Minnesotans on the team than guys from Colorado!!!! Nice try though!
@@primetime2667 wow I am very sorry about my earlier reply. I just finished a run and my adrenaline was pumping. I got a little out of hand there. I actually have family in Minnesota who are Gophers and Wild fans and I actually have mad respect for Minnesotans.
@@primetime2667 The problem with your math is that 19 of the 28 on Mankato's roster are not from Minnesota, including 6 Canadians, 1 from Germany, another from the Czech Republic, and an assortment of players from Florida, Colorado, Alaska, Michigan, Illinois, California, Ohio. Top three Mankato scorers are from Florida, Germany and Ohio, in that order. College hockey, like college football and college basketball, does not in most cases focus on local recruiting. It's become a global sport.
Oh yeah, and Dryden McKay is from Illinois, and Mankato sported the oldest team in the Frozen Four, with 18 of 28 players older than 22.
@@glborchert That's Mavericks Hockkey 101..
Great game! Love Massimo Rizzo’s game!
Lets go Pioneers!
college hockey players used to pretty much only be from Minnesota, Michigan and Massachusetts, but now it's common for them to be from New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Illinois, Colorado, Wisconsin, Connecticut
Wheels really fell off there at the end. Minn St should feel fortunate their goal even found the back of the net in the first. Good final game boys!!
Congratulations, Link 148 Points
Pioneers!!
Denver couldn't buy a shot on net, and found there way through to win it all
congrats
The played way better in the third
Maybe so but they got away with plenty of no calls. Played third goal with a high stick no call. Called MSU for too many men yet a few minutes later Denver does the same, anti Minnesota Melrose even called it out and still no call. On the Denver PP Groll gets a break away short handed and his skate is hooked right as he approached the goal, no call. MSU player is face planted from behind Denver’s net, no call. Those no call breaks for Denver helped turn the tide. When Denver was up 2-1 Hastings should have called a time out to regroup his team.
PP’s were 3-1 in Denver’s favor.
@@tdavidg9176 lol, someone always gotta make excuses.
@@robertmcnearny9222 I have watched the high stick replay several times, pretty blatant.
@@tdavidg9176 lol. Ok, send the link.

Pios win it. Avs win it. What a night!!
Wish Michigan could’ve pulled it off, but as a red wings fan I’m glad Denver won
I was pulling for Mankato as a wings/NMU fan
@@YooperHatesOhioState I'm UP also was sort of pulling for Mankato since theyve been so close but I have no problem with Denver winning, always my sentimental favorite along with North Dakota FIGHTING SIOUX from the tough old WCHA

DU = The Alabama of college hockey.
But way smarter.
@@gisuhan6873 no powder puff teams either lol
Hobo winner worse than our blind rec goalie when it mattered the most in his life
YES!!!!!!!
whats with all these ncaa players and breaking their sticks over the goalpost lmao i swear ive seen it at least 3 times so far in these playoffs
Ingredible
Why are they forcing adults to wear full cage? You can be 16 and wear visor in Jr A Canada
Was close, until minn st, forgot how to play defense
Bobby Brink should of won the Hobby Baker but oh well he won the one that means the most! It all evens out eventually.
Colder/Snow states have such an advantage in hockey.
Has any college from Hawaii or Florida won this championship?
Its their sport.
@@redfordreddington8834 WTF?
I have lived in Colorado for 19 years and I'm yet to see people playing hockey outdoors. Most of the hockey I see here involves a Hockeymom's SUV and an Ice arena with expensive ice time for the kids.
Tampa Bay has won the last two Stanley cups and that’s Florida.
@@chrisstopher2277 Do you not know how to read? "Has any college from Hawaii or Florida won this championship?" I am talking about college only. The NHL doesnt count since the worst state can force good players to come through the draft/trades.
city, state, U.S.

GO PIOS!!
Almost looks like the Denver player touched that puck with a high stick on the 3rd goal.
what a choke fest
Colorado is the state of hockey
Hahaha they don't even have one guy on the team from Colorado...all Canadians and Minnesotans
@@primetime2667 hahaha, like that matters? kids on alabama football team mostly from alabama according to you right?
@@loganwolverine2573 yes my point that's why alabama is a power in football just like minnesota is a powerhouse in hockey! Thus state of hockey!!!
Lol I didn’t know it was called the frozen four
Thank god for DU. There is no way Mankato State deserves to win a title before SCSU. Go Pioneers.
Denver is always winning in college hockey lmao. I don't follow them, but as a Colorado sports fan, how exactly is Mijnesota the state of hockey? Just because it's popular there, making it the Canada of the USA? Sounds more like an insult to be compared to Canada.
Minnesota Duluth just put up back to back championships.
This year Minnesota had two teams in the final four, last year three. True none of them won but it still proves Minnesota is the state of hockey. Plus the Minnesota high school hockey tournament is the biggest high school tournament in the country for any sport
I can't believe the North Stars left.
@@sportsfan1717 Maybe because 80 percent of players in the NHL from America is from Minnesota.... DU had 0 players from Colorado they are all from Canada and Minnesota!
DU was to much athlete for those nobody's
