Just discovered your channel this morning. It’s so nice to see young people out on adventures. I’m in my 50’s and my spouse has a terminal illness. We will never go on our adventures together. We put off most of that stuff for our later years and now it won’t happen. You will have some good memories and great stories to tell. I wish you luck ❤ I hope you get yourself out of there . This place is dangerous!
Bottom line: As long as you're satisfied & comfortable, that's second to your health, safety and well-being. Actually, this set up isn't too distant from good ole Fred's. No matter what, I always enjoy your attitude and acceptance to everything that crosses your path. Sometimes, time flies ~ The key is stay busy, but getting plenty of rest.
I love how you are staying positive😊 ... i lived in an un insulated shipping container (Conex) in Australia for 2 & a half years with no bathroom, no windows & just the Conex doors! My bathroom was a pop up tentlike thing outside. The Conex did not leak though ... however before that i lived under a house for 10yrs when every time there was heavy rain it flooded so i had to wear waterproof boots to get out of bed. So i cringe when i see you with the water inside, i can very much relate & i am sad that you have to deal with that now 😢 But i know that you are NOW back home & that that was all part of your Alaskan adventure ❤😊
Hey Bro, the Conex is good in some ways as it appears to be cozy and private. But the black mold can be a real problem. But not all black mold is toxic that can cause an allergenic reaction Black Toxic mold can also have a dark greenish color and can cause severe allergenic reactions. You should spray it down with a solution of bleach and water and wear an organic mask respirator so you don't breath in the spores. Your videos of your travel adventures are very inspiring and educational. Your presentation is exceptional as a content creator as your bring everything you do to life:) Oh yeah I need to try salmon fishing in Alaska
I built a container home for my niece here on my property while she's in college, Hers doesn't have a bathroom though but she's only 50 feet outside my back door, she wanted a little kitchenette and a study area instead. We also took doors and welded them to the top and put 4x4 posts on it and made her a little front porch/sitting area. When she graduates and moves out I'll just turn it into a outdoor man and put a toilet room in it, so it's a win win IMO.
Thanks for the video. In most places I wouldn't leave my stuff on the floor but maybe it's cold enough in Alaska to keep the bugs out. Have fun and hope you don't get sick.
Brother. I assume you're not there anymore but... There was 100% black mold in between that container and that plywood. Those are insane conditions tbh. I guess that's life and experience as I'm sure you had a great time. Cheers from Mista Cheez
Your channel appeared in my newsfeed so I subbed. However I've gotta start with the older videos & work my way up to the latest. From South Africa a new sub 🌍🇿🇦💌🙏👍
Try Elastomeric all over the container. You can get it on 5 gallon containers. It flexes 600%, it goes on like paint and that container will be completely waterproof. You can paint that roof and the sides. You need to wait 24 hours between coats. I just did 3 coats on my house. I used the Behr brand and it has a lifetime warranty on it. If that company you work for owns that shipping container, I'd think they would want it to last and they should reimburse you for the work you do on it.
Wow, as a boy I lived in Yakutat. Two of my best memories was fishing at the REL bridge and Cannon Beach. I wonder if the shipwreck is still on that beach.
@@bgrace27 I was born in Anchorage. We moved there when I was 12 and lived in Yakutat in 1964 during the massive earthquake. I am shocked that ship hasn't rusted away LOL
@@bgrace27 I'm looking to "escape" a moldy home by buying a semi trailer and insulating with mineral-wool on the inside and possibly a gap with a dehumidifier to circulate super dry air between the outer wall and inner insulated wall (maybe 1 to 2 inch gap) and a couple dozen brushless computer fans ..maybe all aluminum studs with rubber or nylon spacers so as to not have thermal bridging....either aluminum /stainless sheet interior wall or solid wood although I kind of want to avoid anything that can rot or hold moisture.... Then maybe foam board or spray foam exterior and add a second "skin" or siding... I am mainly concerned about "container rain" or Condensation and the resulting mold ... But I want to be able to take "my home" with me to Florida (humid), Arizona dry and hot, and to Alaska too... EDIT: Looking to use a "Kentucky Trailer" so I can put the insulation floor wall and ceiling and then put water tanks INSIDE of the "insulated envelope" so no worries about freezing or needing to weld carriers underneath that are exposed... And then build false floor over the top of them with removable floor panels for easy access.. (also a great place to strategically put dehumidifier or two for the "double wall" air space...
@@bgrace27FYI use borax dissolved in HOT water, allow to cool and settle... Then put in a couple Gallon garden pump sprayer and soak everything that ever got wet or could ...the borax is acidic and will kill mold. ...also HEAT kills mold...over 160 degrees Fahrenheit for two hours will kill mold... HOWEVER nothing **destroys/breaks down** the *mycotoxins* .... mycotoxins are any and every part of alive or dead mold and spores ...must wipe and vacuum out with shop vac --- make certain shop vac has a discharge those going DOWN WIND OUTSIDE and away from your home... Bleach "does actually kill" mold and spores ...nearly 100% but BUT it does not remove the "mycotoxins" either....AND once it evaporates it has NO LASTING EFFECTS. ...it is also debated as to whether it kills the "roots" of the mold in porous material like wood and cement blocks... So a lot of people use 1. Bleach. 2. Borax 3. Clean and deep clean. 4. Leave a good coating/soaking of Borax. 5. Dry and then HEAT it up carefully to over 160 degrees ( don't burn it down ) 6. Then keep a dehumidifier going AT ALL TIMES and use high rated air filters.
If you're going back, check the water pipes. There may be a leak in the wall. The low shower pressure may be a sign. Also, you should sand, paint, and re tarp the roof. Hopefully thst will give you two layers of defense. The water could be coming from your neighbors side, so treat the entire roof.
I’m sure you’ve already thought of this, but my guess is the water under the floor in your bathroom is not because of rain or coming from the outside, my guess is the sink, toilet or shower pipes are leaking. Could be the cause of some of your water pressure problem. I think you are doing a great job making that place homey. Can you get to a Walmart or some store like that? If you were to get two or three “under the bed” storage containers, you’d have so much more room to put things.
I bet it's coming from the other side of the connex it's probably coming from the other room either their Windows leaking or the roof is leaking and it goes down to the floor and then it seeps under the wall to your floor I think the floor is like the roof where it has the little concave channels
maybe go back to the hotel room? (if there's no mold there) pull an extra few shifts & try to get a private room! Mold is to be taken seriously, I lived in a cabin in the mountains with it, it sucks!!!
The water getting in now is most likely a crack in the pipes for the shower since there is zero water pressure. They don't take care of things there, so they most definitely don't winterize it properly.
@@bgrace27 Yeah it makes the most sense to me. We know that you took care of the window and the roof leaks. It's gotta be the plumbing. Lets hope it's fresh water and not black...
my husband painted the roof and outside walls of our container with white rubber paint. your osb boards need to be replaced with plywood. the tarp is going to tear up into a billion tiny pieces
About the water pressure thing there are things you can install inside the shower head that increases the water pressure but I guess you already knew that.
I wouldn't be surprised if your lodge asks you to take the video down. If you go back, you should ask them to have your van barged in. Edit to ask is it possible that the water was coming up from the soggy ground?
I've got to be honest Bronson, that place is more like a dog kennel How the employers could expect you to live in there is beyond me, it sorta indicates to me that they regard staff simply as replaceable or disposable tools. Doesn't look like any paint or sealer on that bare plywood to make it easier to clean, or help prevent black mold Health and Safety agencies or departments have obviously got no teeth over there I'm guessing that if you complained about anything, their attitude would be "if you don't like it, f*%# off then!" Haha, you've got such a positive attitude Bronson, and too nice natured to demand your rights
First no matter how healthy your lungs are you should not be in that place without a respiratory…. Also I bet the water is coming from your neighbors issues and leaking through the partition wall. Just a thought. Be blessed ❤❤❤❤❤
I would have got right back on a plane even if needed to be private and high tailed it back to anywhere. That is awful to expose a person to this just to make a living. The owner is disgusting.
The person who own that container has no decency, shame, honesty. There should be rules, regulations, certain standards That they have to abide by for their workers because that wasn’t fit to live in.
Dude that’s black mold and you don’t even know what’s going on behind the other walls and floor. You could potentially die from this. I rather sleep in my car. I work in Health Care and I tell you that no amount of privacy is worth your health and life. Get out of that place.
As you noticed people are as….holes, they never have a good intention, they invite you there but once you are stuck, they show their true faces, so called Glacier shit. This should be a life lesson for you to never trust people again.
I really hope you don’t get sick. I would get out of there as soon as possible. Case closed
