    Since I don’t know much about farming or the machinery (although I’m trying to learn by watching these) I mostly watch for the humor and the beautiful background, it’s very pretty out there. I loved the D’OH! 😆 Tell Shannon she looks so cute and I’m loving the sun hat. Sorry, not your typical comment on this channel I know, but what can I say. Great video Tom!😊

    Good work Tom, some precise steering was required with Little B. The Grandsons enjoyed watching also!

      Thanks Phil! The precision part escaped me a bit but the damage wasn't that bad lol. Like many things, by the time I get the hang of it, I'm done. Glad the grans like it! Say hi from farmer Tom!

    The shields can be fairly important, especially with smaller plants, but can they be set a little wider apart? When cultivating with limited space, we would get down on one brake, turn the steering to the lock, and piroette with the inside rear wheel reversing direction without moving.

      They can be spread a little wider apart. I’m embarrassed to say I didn’t even think about braking and turning. I’m not sure I would have succeeded with the manual lift. It’s hard to lift if the tractor isn’t moving. Then hand braking one side and turning the wheel would be a handful. Then dropping the cultivators again. I’m definitely gonna try it! Thanks!

    I would love to see a video on how it mounted and how you have things set I use one just like that for cultivating my potatoes, but have a hard time getting it going deep in the ground. but I have harder soil here.

      @@toddsabinash3928 I will try and do one next week when I take them off and mount the plow. I’m just winging it though. I’m trying to figure it out myself.

    I was raised on super A ,we used disc hillers ,bar off ,bar on ,seamed like more soil control .

      I have a couple of disc hillers. What do you mean by bar off bar on? Thanks!

      @@MajorDiesel He had me for a minute too, but I think I know what he means. It has been many years since I did this with a Farmall Cub. I always had trouble with the shields too, and eventually decided I was better off without them. I think what Paul is describing is to make one pass with the disc hillers turned to throw dirt out, getting close to the plant, but being careful not to go deep, then come back with the hillers turned to throw dirt in, just barely getting the soil up to the base of the plant.
      Only messing with a quarter acre I have decided I am better off without a tractor. For cultivating I use either a Valley Oak wheel hoe with a 16 inch stirrup hoe, or a Planet Junior with the 10 inch sweep. I can cultivate closer to the pant without damaging it. Also, the stirrup hoe cultivates so shallow that I do not have the problem of bringing up weed seed that will germinate and cause my field to be just as weedy in a week as it was before I cultivated.

    On my D14 AC cultivators the fenders had a light duty chain attached to the rear of the fender,
    You could pull up on the chain to clear any clog or clear the fenders of the ground if you had to back up,
    Just a thought,

    • @MajorDiesel
      @MajorDiesel  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a good idea. I only have the one shield. I can put a rope or chain and lift it up and tie it off when needed. Thanks!
