Great video as always. I'm 70 now still in good shape ex powerlifter come weight trainer. My OWN personal preference is Isometric holds. Thats what the Bullworker was designed for and what it does best. Reps to me done with the Bullworker are a waste of time. There's little or no resistance at the start and only full resistance at the end of the movement. So little stimulus for 3/4s of the exercise. I do a X5 workout everyday consisting of 15 of my best exercises, namely ones that don't aggravate any joints at my age. Then follow that with the Isokinator. Day one, I do chest and shoulders. Day two back and arms. All for 3 sets of 10. I do the Isokinator crunches everyday. The difference with the Isokinator over the Bullworker and weights is the resistance is constant over the full range of motion...from start to finish ... no let up. Look forward to your next video.
The old bullworkers were not meant for reps, isometric holds only.Having said that a few exercises were shown for reps, but the main muscle growth came from isometric holds.
In regard to the tricep push down exercise, this can be done on the original X5 with increased resistance by holding the body of the Bullworker with the upper hand and then push down on the lower straps, using one or both the straps giving two resistance levels
Thanks a lot for your review. You are allways very informativ and with a good humor. I am swedish and had my X5 many years now. My length is 186 cm. so I would like to have another version of a longer Bullworker Pro, and as you said the handles needs a bit more friction. Please keep on your good work! All The best! Göran
I like your videos! Very interesting and informative. I've had an X5 probably 40-50 years. About 3 years ago I got the Steel Bow with the different springs and the carrying case. I still use both of them almost every day. A question I have is why 7 seconds of holding? Would 10-15 seconds be better? My routine is 10 reps and holds 10 seconds on the 10th rep. Take care, my friend 😎✌️
Most studies found 7 seconds of an isometric hold was the most effective length of time for muscle growth. However, it's recommended to hold for a count of 10 seconds. The reason for this was that people were off by about 3 seconds when counting 7 seconds in their head.
Started using mine again, that I bought during lockdown, with the springs (Classic Bow) today. I normally use weights but as off for half-term and I'm off on holiday in July for a week, I looked at something I can take with me and a few months off the weights.
Another X5 Pro advantage: The handles can be turned. On the original X5 they can't. There are some exercises where I don't want the handles to be locked into the same alignment.
The new x-5 Pro does have a few advantages. I recon whichever bullworker model you go with it's got to be right for you, it's a very personal choice. In my opinion and being a little above 6ft I find the original bullworker X5 the best, I also enjoy using the bullworker 2.
I think the classic s ate best Bit for just isometric Probably the original x5 is The best of all time I never have used those hand grips My first bull worker 3 never had them
The thing I don't like about the short Bull workers is you lose range on the Tubular exercises especially The lat pull down I also have the original x5 and I feel the strap will wear out if I use sneakers on it. The new one should be more like the original x5
Love the channel. After having the new X5 for a few months now, do you think it could replace the Bullworker Classic or maybe the smaller Steel Bow? I have both of the newest versions. I have been thinking about buying the new X5 to replace my smaller Steel Bow. I like it for some exercises but I think the limited range of motion limits it use for a lot of exercises. Any pros and cons you could give would be helpful in making the decision. That thing with the one joint would bug me I guess. They should make two joints like you recommend.
I agree That would all it would be good for My travel one I have 8 of them and the length On this doesn't give a full stretch The strap advantage is only for a couple Of exercise s
I have the original full size x5 but since having the new x5, I've not used it at all. I feel more comfortable using the new x5. However, I'm around 5ft 8'', perhaps of you are taller with longer levers, the classic may be better for you?
@@LivingWellTV I am the same hight LOL. I picked up the new X5 a few weeks ago. I love this new model. The straps give a great range of motion that was limited on the Steel Bow. Making it less useful for me. The classic still has many uses. If I could only have one it would be the new X5.
Question, would you recommend the x5 pro and the higher price for someone new to the Bullworker or the basic 28? I'm 58 and am not a big guy but used to work out heavily for decades. Sadly aging and many injuries I am am limited on what I can do these days. Any kind of arm curls pretty much are out. Thanks for any input.
If you just starting out, I always recommend getting a used bullworker x5, the older type from the 80's. You can pick these up for quite cheap. Then, if you enjoy using it, you can always upgrade to the X5 pro or even the cheaper steel bow.
Hi, I'm new to Bullworkers, and I can't figure out why this smaller pro version (28") would be better than the new production classic (36") model? It seems like you would have a vastly larger range of motion with the classic. I don't care about one model being easier to travel with. I care only about maximum range of motion and maximum tension. With that in mind, wouldn't the classic be the best choice? I don't understand the benefit of the straps for this pro model either. It seems like that's just a compromise to get around it being a more compact model. Additionally, wouldn't it make sense that the spring on the classic model is longer? So if we compare the red spring in both the pro and classic models, wouldn't we see more gains from the classic because we've got way more range of motion under the same level of tension with the longer spring? We also shouldn't be dealing with the Bullworker twisting as weirdly, right? Please let me know what you think. I watch a lot of your videos and would really appreciate your thoughts.
I am on TBE dame page as you I hardly use my small bull worker Just the classics The small one is only good for isometric Not isotonic at all And for lat pull down I prefer the 36 Inch one

I still love the old X5 Bullworker.
My 40 year old X5 still going strong. My 71 year old me still is too.
@@w.adammandelbaum1805 The old X5 Bullworkers are built like tanks. I got one from eBay and I love it.

I've had my X5 pro for a month now, I absolutely love it. The 5 springs and straps are a game changer.
For the grip try a few wraps of gaffers tape or golf tape or bike grip tape.

I think it would be nice to have a window to see what spring is in it.
Workout gloves or gloves with rubber palms will give you a better grip on the tubes.
Could the reason for the lack of ‘flanges’ on the new X5 be the fact that it would inhibit the spring change? Just a theory. Thanks for sharing.
I'm looking forward to getting mine.
Great review. Really interesting to see both new and old compared. Thanks for the video

How does the Z5 pro differ from the classic 36 inch model? Is one better than the other?
