I have absolutely no idea why people talk about the 2nd amendment like it's a lesser right. Yet people act like bc they don't like it, somehow that doesn't matter.

The school needs to be held accountable as well. They DID NOT SEARCH HIS BOOK BAG when they let him go into the school...after having a discussion with the parents about their son's murderous ideations. What a tragic misstep! I am very relieved for the families. Parents are responsible for their children at least until they are 18. If you must have a weapon in your home with children living there, Lock Up Your Damn Guns. And if you have a child in crisis get them help & make positive that they can't get to your weapons even if you have to keep it with you all day. If you must have guns and children it is your responsibility to keep your kids AND other people's kids safe.

This is sick. Parenthood is difficult and these parents were grieving multiple, successive losses. Their kid was a psychopath and intentionally planned all of this and admitted to tricking them to trust him in the video, whilst filling the journal
He conveniently left in his backpack for police full of pleas for help. He lied to his parents to get the gun. These parents were only becoming aware there was a problem as well as the trained professionals at the school were, THAT DAY. Ethan knew that and moved forward with his plan. Some kids are diabolical. It doesn’t keep anyone safer with these parents in prison. Sure, this works, to terrify parents all over to pay attention to their kids, just like the revenge Ethan wanted. Now every school shooter will be sure and bring down all the adults around them.

Are we going to put the guy who didn’t check the backpack in prison, as well? He’s non-violent and has spent countless hours of his life serving students and the community. “He didn’t foresee it.” So prison? I can guarantee the parents and school staff who made some mistakes will suffer with guilt the rest of their lives. In my opinion they are all victims in this. The parents are guilty of negligence with a few things and bad judgment, not involuntary manslaughter. Yes, failing to secure a firearm. It never occurred to them until it was too late E would actually hurt others. Not foreseeable. Even the vice principal couldn’t believe E would do this bc she knew he was a good kid and this was the very first time the parents were called to the school. So, parents, wake up your kid may be an evil psycho, convincing you he’s a good kid. In my opinion the worst thing they did was let him spend countless hours playing shooting games. Why doesn’t this ever get addressed. We are so blind. When I grew up we had pong and frogger. We also didn’t have many or few school shootings. We are letting this violent content brainwash everyone. Ethan’s cat was named Dexter! Wake up. So sickening. People have already copycatted Dexter. I don’t know how those people live with themselves. They found out in class he was a danger and they released him back to class! Protocols need to be changed here. All the school had to do in this case was tell the parents Ethan would not be allowed back to class until he was professionally evaluated. well said everyone especially the Dad in the green t-shirt for going at the 'country club school'.

I understand their need for accountability but I believe that instead of going after the school they should go after the government for not doing something about the gun violence in this country since Sandy Hook. Our government is mostly guilty of all the massacres since then. They have done NOTHING to stop the slaughter of children.

  • @Buckhunter24

This is very much deserved. Nothing will make this any easier but justice has been served. Somethings wrong though, people keep blaming guns. But i dont think a gun has ever shot anybody on its own. We blame the school system, but why dont we start blaming the government for not placing more help for our schools. We all pay a lot of money in taxes that supposedly goes to our schools and what not, but does it? They want to take the easy route and try to take guns away rather than trying to fix the real problem of a mental health crisis. Until Mental Health is recognized as a serious problem and there are significant steps taken to fix it, this insanity is going to keep happening. Politicians and the Government in general are still trying to blame guns after all these year and repeating the same things over and over after these tragedies. That is the definition of insanity and nothing ever gets resolved and the cycle starts over.

The School acted in a gross negligent manner. School counselors, academic leaders staff.. are usually cooped up in the office eating cookies and they act bothered when students or parents go into the office to inquire about different matters. You dont see the Principal for months unless you get in trouble and are taken to her/his office. What about getting up from your chair "Principal" make your presence known, visit the classrooms weekly to make yourself available to students? I'd love to see phone forensics and discover how many of these school officials were carrying
on personal activities ( which should be conducted outside the workplace) - at the time of the shooting.. Such as accessing their social media, shopping online, or engaging in conversation with partners or family members while a tragedy was unfolding in the school hallways. Those students were neglected and the shooter knew these school representatives were unsuitable to protect them and most deff not prepared to stop him.

Insane for Michigan to have a 15 year max for _involuntary_ manslaughter! Arizona's maximum for that is 3 years & California's is 2-and-a-half. The Federal max is only 6 years!
For all we know, the child is a psychopath or sociopath. For all we know, he knows how to manipulate & lie extremely well. For all we know, he wrote things in his journal knowing it'd be found after he carried out his plan & he wanted to craft a narrative. We don't know that he wrote in the journal honestly.
