I’m a Machinist, Welder, Millwright & been going at it for 32 years. Back in 2002 I was going through a rough patch personally, I started to question my career choice among other things personal. A great friend turned me on to Jesse and it changed my life. Watching him work made me proud of my skill and ability. Been watching him ever since and have learned so much that in retirement I will still work in my own home shop just as he does. I had to comment because I am seeing him mentor the next gen of metal crafters and I believe it is detrimental to the survival of a trade that has been generous to me both financially and mentally. Dude you made an awesome choice me I'm a teacher I teach High school in Houston and wish every day I new a trade, plumbing, HVAC, millright, or cnc machining, hell I even started taking auto tech classes at Houston CC to learn something but covid fucked it all up
I love this show. No drama. Great skills. I appreciate Jesse's expertise, hard work, artistic vision, and commitment to quality results. Most guys would rivet it and call it done. Jesse kept fiddling and iterating and adjusting until it was right.

There's been a resurgence in backyard smithing, it's healthier than you think. Try to find a good used anvil for sale, you'll see quick enough
@@wakanakapisihello5655 I couldn't agree more. My grandfather was a Smith. Now I am aswel I still use his forge and anvil but recently was lucky to get a bigger nicer anvil and built a propane forge for the quicker smaller work
@@WILLYSCHNUCK yes, when I started it was all propane and the farriers college, but the forgemaster was an Aussie who had his goal forge set up at the back of the big barn, outside, no cover. They had sought him out intentionally and man you talk about something to see. Guy hardly ever spoke, had a hide like elephant skin as dark as the aboriginies, and just did his thing. Even for demonstration he had another instructor talk along as he worked. At a national hot shoe completion in OKC it became obvious. Lotta names that were known in the field there, 3 man teams. Our guys were hot fitting the last shoe before anybody else had finished thier second. Guy was a beast. Here we are 30 years later and finally about to build my REAL forge. It will be excessively large and mostly stone, a side blast rig in the European style. All that bottom blast shit is a result of the American inclination to be mobile back in the day, mining towns, and simply new ground with more promise coming open all the time. Mobilesde sense, just like propane on a farriers rig now. I finally got same enough to stop nailing shit to horses feet so I can set up to be still now. (You don't HAVE to be crazy to shoe horses but it helps A LOT) Have you seen this super insulator called Starlight? It's frigging unbelievable man, and you can make it up in your kitchen with what's already there.
What a LEGEND... U.S.M.C. veteran with 2 combat tours. Watching you do you work is amazing as well as motivating to just go for it. I hope that one day I can afford one of your hand made firearms. Your art form is above and beyond.

It's great that Jesse still goes to apprentice with other metal workers given is skill level. He always is trying to improve which is why he is so great.

Fun times in my life... watching the early videos with my sons and then working in the shop With them the next day.
In my early 20s back in 2000 I would come home every day from work like a kid getting home from school and watch monster garage and west coast choppers because welding and fabrication was and still is my life!!!!

I've been watching jesse james since around 1998 he is a true craftsman at anything attempts and love his attitude !!!! Truly one of the best!!! He just doesn't give 2 fucks what anybody thinks
I remember visiting west cost customs and being blown away...a living legend.
I remember my van breaking down in front and nobody willing to lend me tools to put a belt back on the engine. I missed my court date resulting in a failure to appear and I had to tow my van back home. Guess we all have different memories.

Ya he doesn't buy all his stuff and then modify it and weld on ornate decorative pieces that are cut out by a waterjet and say hey I'm a bike master builder
I bake my cake and decorate them too. I build my frames and everything else but I have no tools like Jesse I don’t even have a welder right now but one day soon I’m going to have my shit to gather and standing in a empty garage and my last blank frame I built and it’s happening again. My last bike put me on local celebrity status and then boom did nothing but no more.

Sometimes I am amazed at the art that comes from common sense.Thanks Jesse for another lesson in working steel been at it for over 30 year but just getting into forge welding and I'm building my own everything to work with even my tongs,just about to turn 60 and thinking about hanging up the portable wanted to say thank you for the inspiration

Jesse James is the Bruce Lee of today's metal fab work. Bruce Lee went and found the old masters ( as i heard it) and learned from them and made his own martial arts. Jesse James did the same by finding old craftsmen like Yuri Hoffi and others and made his own style of bike building, metal fabrication. I give him great respect for showing the young kids of today what he has learned so the art forms of metal working are not lost.

I was lucky enough to always fix and rebuild my own engines growing up, then landed an apprenticeship at an Aerospace machine shop here in San Diego before all the aerospace moved out...I'm 50 now and thinking about buying some tools and getting into manufacturing, hand crafting, iron smithing etc...Don't know to what end to be honest but the criteria is 1: have fun 2: make some money

This man is a metal god a true legend and sadly a Dying Breed in today's age. I've been watching him in amazement for 20years now and these new videos still blow me away. I Still rock my ole monster garage and west coast chopper tee shirts every now and again since like 2004 lol. Oh What ide do for just a tenth of his skills and knowledge. Don't get started on one of his old bikes or the new guns ide Probably give up one of my nuts and I've grown pretty attached to it hahaha lol.

Jesse, I guess you are not wasting all that coke in order to make the steel numb so you can beat it....lol I want to ride down so badly and see you in your awesome shop. I just barely survived getting hit by a passing car that threw me into a telephone pole . There are three fist sized clots down my leg that broke loose and gave me an embolism that somehow I was able to drive myself to the hospital and survive. The surgeons said surviving what I did was like winning every lottery in the USA at the same time. I am so happy to be alive I definitely have to do the things on my bucket list. The most major one is partying and possibly building a bike at your shop .Thank you my friend for being such a great worker and role model for the important things. I probably will not marry a porn star but anything else is fair game.

He is a true metal artist. He has a God given talent and if you don't have that ability already in you then no matter how much you practice, going to school, having someone show you how to do things like that you will never be truly good at something like that. You may can get by doing some things but will never be at the level of Jesse James

God I'm jealous. I want to blacksmith. I'll apprentice with a master in Israel for a few months and drop half a million on forges, powerhammers, acetylene torches, anvils, and etc and learn as I go and become pretty damn good in like a year. Could have done a couple twists though.
