    THE MOST EXPENSIVE LURE ROD REVIEW - SHIMANO EXSENCE INFINITY
    I recently bought possibly one of the most expensive and sought after lure rods in the UK..... the SHIMANO EXSENCE INFINITY.
    This JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) rod is a bait casting, sea bass specific lure rod...... and it has an eye-watering price tag. I was lucky enough to purchase this rod (unused 2nd hand), at a fraction of the cost, from someone in the UK who had imported it, thinking it was the spinning version.
    In this video I will give you my review and thoughts on this rod. In the second half i take this rod on the water to do battle with some local bass!

    My thoughts exactly, I wish they would've put in an extra guide or two into their high end rods. But then again, I should've known better, the Japanese knew exactly what they were doing. Every guide is placed exactly where they belong, not more, nothing less. People will have to experience it to appreciate these expensive rods.

    Great video! Nice to see a baitcaster beeing used for UK Bass, I suppose you're one of rather few over there? I do sea trout along the Swedish shores and most here use spinning reels nowadays (me as well in icy conditions) but mostly and preferably I use my 2012 Exsence DC on a old 9'6" 6-32g BC rod. Would love to try out an Infinity 9'6" ML or even a 9'6" L if there was one.. The combination of fast recovery and slower taper, a deep flexible bend, preferably down to the handle appeals to me and it seems most fast recovery rods usually has a stiffer action. A trend of the time I suppose but imho not needed with braid and baits you work ocassionally but mostly retrive rather steady.
    Thight lines!

      Thanks mate, yes I only know of 2 other guys who use baitcasters for bassing here in the Uk. To be honest , apart from the BFS lure anglers (like me ) , most lure anglers in the UK use spinning gear.
      I did have an issue with my exsence DC SSXG (the poor man’s version of your reel)…. After 3 months it completely seized!!!!! I have returned it and I’m getting a diawa zillion tw sv to replace it.
      If you like sea trout I caught one in one of my latest videos. All the best guy

      Sorry your DC breaking down but on that note, small low profil BC reels are quite popular among dedicated Perch fishermen here so I tried my Zillion 1000 SV TW one day with the 9'6" this spring. It was as good as my Exsence in terms of distance and ease in casting, controlled. I hope you will like your. I'll look at your sea trout vid - cheers!
      PS I'd probably go with the brass geared Zillion for ssltwater or the Silver Wolf (if the line capacity suffices), mine is JDM and has aluminium gears.

      @@andersriksson100 I use a Shimano Chronarch XG 150 on a 9'6" Dialuna C 18 ML Three years now and no problems. I use a water spritzer bottle at the end of the day, and service myself. a couple times a year. I have three other Dialunas all 9'6" spinning MH/M/ML Stradic C5000, Vanford C5000, Exsence 4000 respectively. fishing for stripe bass, California halibut, Surfperch, and king salmon. San Francisco Bay Area has a lot to offer. Chronarch G is salt water rated mid price and a fine reel.

      @@ctgilcrestIntresting, been thinking about the Dialuna BC 96ML but I fear it may be too powerful. What about action, deos it bend well down deep in the blank like said in this video at about 9.40- and what bait weights do you feel is best suited? I hardly ever use baits over 30g so I'd prefer a rod that can do that but not more.

    Hi, good review. I have the exsense genos s90mh but i am interested in buying the infinity rod in either M or ML action for casting 10g soft plastics and also to be able use it with 20g metal jigs ect. Do you think the ML or M would be better suited for that?

    • @theoccasionalangler6956
      @theoccasionalangler6956  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would probably go ML…. Another rod that would excel for that application is the Apia Foojin rs springer… very fun rod

    • @Jack-tn8im
      @Jack-tn8im 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@theoccasionalangler6956 Apia are good rods but on the heavy side. I do prefer the lightness of the top end Shimano's rods. I am just not sure if should I go with the ML or M for general purpose but still soft enough to cast light silicone lures like the Fiiish ect. The rod will be 9'6 for a fixed spool reel. It's an expensive rod so I want to make the right choice before I order it from Japan.

    My S10M arrived a couple weeks ago, luckily caught two around 3lb - 4lb salmons with it. The rod has good control on those fish, casting distance is not bad probably because it has only 8 guides, but not as comfortable as Yamaga Blanks 103M which is more stable and a lot less wobbly…overall Exsence is a good rod but at this price point I was expecting it’d be made in Japan😢Yamaga Blanks better choice for the money for my needs (Shore casting for small Pacific Northwest salmons)

      @@theoccasionalangler6956 Early for Surf 103M is what I’m using this year…last year I used TZ Nano 93 (weighs only 90g), salmon is definitely not within the target range for TZ Nano but I only started fishing a couple years ago and I’ve been exploring all the rods that I could get…that TZ Nano rod gave me the ultimate fun for salmon under 5lb, but as the fall approaches more 5lb+ fish start coming close to the shore preparing to shoot into the rivers, I know TZ Nano can’t handle those fish mostly because the sea lions would grab the fish before I could land them 😂so I got the Early for Surf this year…

      @@theoccasionalangler6956 I have to take my words back…went out again today with my Exsence 100M and unlocked the correct casting technique-basically no technique required, just simple straight overhead swing the rod launches the lure far far away by itself…previously I was using pendulum casting turned out I was over complicating it with this rod…all those designs and details made it a newbie friendly rod with effortless long casting capability, amazing rod, yamaga blanks is no match😓

    Hello, do you know the action of this rod? I looked at the 8.6mh casting but I don't know the action of the rod. Thank you.

    • @theoccasionalangler6956
      @theoccasionalangler6956  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe shimano class it as a regular taper, which I agree with. So under load this rod bends down lower through the whole blank, rather than your fast or extra fast actioned rods which only bend at the tip section.

      I coupled it with the shimano exsence DC SSXG . This is a very similar to the curado DC and is specifically designed for sea bass fishing. It cast very well, but I had a mechanical failure with this reel after a few months and had to return it .

    • @theoccasionalangler6956
      @theoccasionalangler6956  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davecockayne8491 yes it’s a problem, there are some saltwater specific reels like the diawa coastal, Abu inshore and Shimano scorpion.
      Some guys get the old abu reels and put an aftermarket spool (super light) and upgraded bearings.
      The shimano exsence was supposed to be a saltwater sea bass specific reel and it died after 3 month use…
      I have used a diawa tatula on and off over the past season and no issues there
